  • I recently had the opportunity to photograph a couple of basketball games using the new Fujifilm XT5 . I use the Fujifilm XF35mm f2.0 and the XF90mm f2.0 lens with the Fujifilm XT5

Thanks for giving your real-life settings and shooting process. There are far too many videos about good and bad, and pixels... for once a video that will help me in a future shooting session. I had a small X-E3 and bought the X-T5. No matter what they say on YT, for me its a huge improvement in all aspects. Great video Jorge.

How is the buffer on the xt5?

    • @ItsOnlyFil
      @ItsOnlyFil Рік тому +2

@@birjub9647 Totally agree with Jorge, and I don't also use that feature. To my opinion, there are other cameras out there for those who specifically needs high shooting rate and large buffer. Remember also that the memory card model and brand name has a strong impact on this. If you're paying high price for a card, you might get better performance.

@@jrperezphotography I wasnt happy about the battery grip too, i currently have 2 xt-3s one with and one without battery grip. I find it easier to shoot vertical with the grip then without. Iv also found myself taking more vertical shots than lanscaples :/ i have the 35 f2, 16 f2.8 and 50 f2. i want to get the 70-300 as my next lens :) heard great things about it

You must of had great light in that gym to be able to shoot 2000 sec and only use 1600/2000 ISO. I’ve never been in a gym with light like that.

I shoot for a small town newspaper and my best photos are the ones I took using my fuji 35 f2. I tried using my 50-140 but just don't like slinging that big lens around.

Could you comment on AF improvements as compared to earlier generations. I'm interested in this type of real world situation more than someone shooting figurines on a shelf. I usually shoot 2 bodies with the 90 on one and the Viltrox 33 on the other (I had the 35 f2 but the AF stopped working). I really prefer to have a battery grip when I shoot the 90, which is one reason I'm hesitant to upgrade to the T5.

@@jrperezphotography I live in the Dominican Republic and don't know anyone nearby who shoots Fuji, there's nowhere that sells cameras within 3 hours of me, and they generally don't sell Fuji anyway, so I've yet to even try anything other than my X-T2 (which has been an absolute workhorse) and X-E3. These cameras have handled everything I've thrown at them, granted I don't do a lot of action stuff, but who wouldn't want IBIS and better AF? and isn't having GAS part of the fun of being a photographer? I've concentrated on building my lens collection, but now that I have the 3 Fuji f4(ish) zooms that cover 10-200, and the 18f2, Viltrox 33 and 90, my next purchase will most likely be a camera. The Viltrox has done a great job and is probably my most used lens. It wasn't what I wanted, but I was in a bind and needed something right away, and for $200 bucks, I couldn't resist. Very happy with that lens, and there's A LOT of things on the list before I'd think about 'upgrading' it.

How much better is the H2s compared the X-T2 for basketball and soccer? I wonder if I can "get by" with the X-T5 for these and save 700 bucks.

Awesome video. Just shot a Bball game this weekend on the xt2 for my little brother. Ended up renting the 50-140 and loved it. One thing I wanted to ask is how do you move the focus point so quickly to put the box on the player when they are moving so fast?

Good to see you Jorge, as I mentioned in the past, I shot film for many years prior to switching to digital a couple of years ago, I never used any film over "ASA" 400 to avoid “grain”, you’re at iso 2000 and the images look great. When shooting video did you use a gimbal or was it handheld? very steady.

Thanks for posting this video, it is full of very useful information! How did you get the video footage that goes with the stills? Did you make the video with a Fujifilm camera? If so, would you share the settings that you used. Thanks!

Hello Jorge! Season Greetings! Great to see your work in action and the footage really supports it! I am assuming that those were jpegs. Any post editing? I have shot indoor tennis with my XT3, about 4 years ago and had to deal with the pressure of my peers regarding my decision of aps-c vs full frame.
Last year with the XT4 inside the velodrome the results were quite pleasing and can't get better using the 200mm F2.
Any particular settings on your jpegs, if I may ask? For me:
    Highlights: 0
    Shadow Tone: -1
    Color: 0
    Sharpness: +1
NR: -4 (quite new to me, didn't test in low light yet) Should produce more detail.
    Long Exposure NR: Off
    Lens Modulation Optimizer: Off
    Color space: sRGB
Thank you ahead for your time and effort and may the New Year bring to reality all of your projects either professional and personal. Cheers

@@jrperezphotography thanks for the response! I was thinking the same with your comment about the 40 megapixel sensor. That helps as I am debating getting rid of my canon R6 and ef 70-200 2.8 and the rest of my canon lenses for Fuji xt5 and getting corresponding lenses. I shoot a wide range from senior photos to basketball and want something lighter.
