Why does it still surprise me that a fantastic soundtrack can make a movie for me? It seems like magic that music like this can evoke such an incredible emotional response without me even thinking about it or knowing how it works for me.....no words, no facial cues, no lighting, no set, just music. Magic.
I love when Marty tells him "I hope so." and Doc reassures him that it'll all be fine not realizing that it's Doc that MArty's worried about. That whole part accompanied with the score really delivered. Score perfectly accentuated the drama of the clocktower scene.
Agreed. If they make a remake, I would revolt too. This is a cinematic masterpiece of historical proportions, and my personal favorite movie (and trilogy) of all time.
I wouldn't want a full remake. Mini episodes maybe. Say it starts in 2020, see what would confuse Marty in 1990 and what he'd be wearing from 2020 to confuse people. Then poke fun at what is happening in 2050. Like Britain still hasn't left the EU and they've just released Star Wars episode 20.
@fermie125, this is definitely Silvestri's best work. I find it kind of astounding that he didn't have a whole lot of experience doing full-orchestra score stuff before BTTF. Even Spielberg was very reticent about giving him this job. (Apparently Spielberg hated the sort of upbeat pop-sound of Romancing the Stone's music.) But guess what? Silvestri knocked it out of the park, creating a main theme as iconic and spellbinding as anything from Star Wars or Indiana Jones.

Another thing...looking back...I think reality, or at least the car, was on Marty's side. EVERY time the Dalorian stalled...if it hadn't... The whole STORY would never have happened... Hmm. Arigato. @johnkerry7 - It's a moment between two friends, one an older man and the other a teenager just becoming an adult. The friendship between Marty and Doc is the reason these movies work so well - without it, they would still be good, but they wouldn't be great. During this scene, I get emotional too and I'm not sure exactly why, but that's what great movies do - they pull you in completely and get you totally emotionally invested. You don't think about anything else until the credits roll.
@Brad2325 definitely agree. Nothing tops the visions as a child of the delorean maing it's death-defying escape to the future. The writing was brilliant. The filming was immaculate. It was a home run on both sides.
@HotaruZoku, in regards to how "non-vulagr" the swearing felt in 80's movies ... I gotta say, I think a lot of that had to do with how natural the cinematography and warm analog sound used to be. Compare BTTF with the latest Nike ads to promote the sneakers inspired by BTTF2. Those ads look like plastic, and everything just kind of sits on screen like a dead fish. But when things used to look/sound natural and warm, pretty much anything a person did in a movie felt "justified" and natural.

While the sequels have their good points, they feel kind of cartoony and shallow in comparison to the iconic, magical perfection that is the first one. I wouldn't be pleased either if they decided to remake this classic.
The first Back To The Future is one of my favorite movies of all time. Parts 2 and 3 were great but nothing can touch the original IMO... I hope Hollywood realizes how perfect this movie is and never tries to remake it. I will definitely show it to my kids one day so they can see what a great movie really is. "They're your parents, you must know them... what are their common interests? What do they like to do together?" "... Nothing."

BUT what if there were a series of shorts that acted as reimagined version of certain points? Say Marty went from 2020 to 1990? There could br confusion about his uggs or gay pride jumper maybe. And he inadvertently references multi channel TV and Donald Trump as president. Then flipping forward to 2050, Britain has still to leave Europe and they've just released Star Wars episode 20. It was actually an official 2-CD release from INTRADA. Unfortunately, I checked just now and they're currently sold out. I suppose it's possible they'll produce some more in the future. (I seem to recall that after the very first pressing came out, there was a lull, and sometime afterwards it became available again for a while.)

The first Back To The Future is one of my favorite movies of all time. Parts 2 and 3 were great but nothing can touch the original IMO...
