There was only one Conker game. The one for Xbox is a remake. R.I.P. Rare. Like knucklejoeandkirby said, he was originally in Diddy Kong Racing.
I miss the old days...
How did Rareware go sour? It was because Rareware let go of its signature formula after the release of Conker's Bad Fur Day. They couldn't find another formula, and so was the release of games like Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Perfect Dark Zero, and other games.
As Rare's formula, look at the Donkey Kong Country games. It had smooth level design, lovable characters, godly music, et cetera. They also well transitioned their formula to 3-D, with games like DK 64, Banjo-Kazooie, etc.
yeah even Chris Seavor creator of Conker resigned from the company.
I wish Rare was still with Nintendo...
Conker :(
one of my favorites games ever was conker bad fur day
Conkers bad fur day was BADASS
I want Rare back at Nintendo....so they can get all their IPs, dissolve the company, and give all the good IPs to actually GOOD developers.
One can only wish...
Just to clarify. Nintendo owned about 49 % of rareware, when they sold out to MS, Nintendo sold their share. and well then the founders of rareware left. they are now into farming :-)
Nuts and Bolts was an honest to goodness good game, it was just wildly different. Still, Rare is just sittin on their asses nowadays, you can't deny that.
Mentioning about golden eye for n64, i also have a rant, some of the devs of goldeneye went on to create free radical design creating the "timesplitters" series.
Timesplitters series in my opinion was the best fps series ever created. unfortunately they went close to bankrupt, and was brought by crytek devs of crysis, farcry etc.
Now there not doing anything about timesplitters even though loads of fans including me are demanding it.
So both rare and free radical design follow the same pattern.
i miss rare
While there were games like Donkey Kong Racing and Banjo Threeie in development for the GameCube all of the other games that were on the Xbox would have still been released. But at the same time Microsoft told Rare to drop everything they were working on (which included Conker's Other Bad Fur Day) and work on Kinect things. So maybe it was Microsoft's fault that Rare isn't making good games, but that's the only time that Microsoft has had Rare do something like that.
Well since the stamper brothers left they were sent to make (the banjo kazooie game we never want to EVER mention) and since that "game" was a flop they were sent to make avatars and kinect games. So if the stamper brothers ever left and then they went back to nintendo they might have made a better game
Conker?A kids game? Oh nevermind Diddy Kong Racing and Conker's pocket tales.
I agree when you say who wouldn't accept the offer. People say that if they stayed with Nintendo they would have better games but I don't think anyone commenting has ever been offered $375 million. For most game companies, it always comes down to money.
good sequels probably LIKE BANJO THREE-IE, CONKER'S BAD FUR DAY 2, ETC.
Nintendo had 51% control of Rare, while it's two founders had 49%.
It may have been the other way around, but the difference is semantics.
No. 1: Diddy Kong Racing
No. 2: Conker's Bad Fur Day
No. 3: -UNKNOWN-
No. 4: Conker: Live & Reloaded
Microsoft, I curse you everyday before I go to sleep for ruining such an amazing company. In the 90s Rareware was the best in my opinion, after they were bought by Microsoft people started to lose respect for the company due to the shitty games they were developing for Microsoft. If Rareware would ever come back to Nintendo, I can only imagine where Nintendo can take Rareware, I think all its glory will return and we fans get to experience the golden age again. Rareware + Nintendo = PERFECTION!
I guess you could kinda say that. But only some of the rare workers (mostly the main rare workers that did everything) That's why retro made so many good games!
I think the stamper bros. sold there majority stock to them 51% and then left the company. So that could also have something to do with they're decline since they lost there founders.
live and uncut was going to be an original 2nd conker game but they cut it and no one but the people at the e3 booths played it
If I owned rare and if microsoft planned to hand over money I would have said no fucking way. I hope they at least give us a port of conker on the 3ds.
I miss rare's golden age....imagine if golden age rare got Sonic instead of bioware (and rare stayed with nintendo)........ NINTENDO WOULD F*ING OWN CONSOLE GAMING IN ITS ENTIRETY!!!
And my shocking momment was that valve havent realesd any games with 3 in them
Bought them, payed them off, there's no difference whatsoever. It's nomenclature. Nothing more.
my most shocking moment is the fact that valve hasent released episode 3 yet
Rare sold THEMSELVES. Nintendo started with something like a 10% share of Rare, and Rare would sell them additional shares when they needed money. Rare got to the point where if they sold any more Nintendo would have majority ownership. Instead, they decided to sell their remaining shares, and Microsoft made the best offer. They ended up with something like 51%, and rather than share with Microsoft, Nintendo decided to sell them their 49%. Nobody "bought out" anyone. Rare sold out (literally).
just a year before they made conker's bad fur day one of the best games of all time in my opinion
Conker's Pocket Tales
RARE is KING
Dude, in Conker: Live and reloaded they censored the word "Twat".
Microsoft thought if they bought Rareware they would have rights to Donkey Kong.
“I’m reading this on Wikipedia”
Me: are your lying?
Don't forget the facial expressions in Conker were worse on Xbox
I think nuts and bolts could've ben fun. Of course it went totally wrong, Nintendo helped Rare so well Nintendo added a charm to Rare. R.I.P Rare. We will have to hope that microsoft will crumble and Rare will return to Nintendo.
3 is from the video they made when they were bought by Microsoft
I think he's still trying to get work. Him getting denied by retrogames was fairly recent
Actually Rareware was losing employees before they switched over to Microsoft. They don't make bad games because they Microsoft, but because of the employees that they lost before and after the switch. Perfect Dark Zero was already in development for the GameCube before the switch and I'm assuming that grabbed by the Goulies would have been on there as well.
Chris seavor (Conker games) splits off and is now an iOS developer. Check it out.
I can sound just like him
I played Minecraft Xbox 360 and used the conker skin and just for the fun of it i played it sounding like conker
Itzleer the 1st ones frome diddy kong racing and the 2nd one is conkers bad fur day
i still waiting a new conker game :(
Conker looks cute in the Xbox version
It's just all about the money...
Lord knows what else Rareware would make if Nintendo stuck with them.
yet retro denied hiring grant kirkhope. I don't want to see a banjo game without his music.
Well to be fair many ex rare employees are working for studios that work for nintendo such as retro.
I would agree with this completely except for where you say Retro Studios is so much better. I love Retro, don't get me wrong, but it saddens me to think of all the games the world has missed because Rare left Nintendo. The Prime games were amazing, but we have yet to see what else they have in store for Nintendo on the WiiU. I would pick the old Rare over Retro any day.
We could have had new 3D Dk games, a sequel to Conker, possibly multiple new Banjo-Kazooie games that are ACTUALLY GOOD and yeah honestly Microsoft has screwed one of the greatest companies in history. They really need to sell some of their classic IPs over to Nintendo so they can get the treatment they deserve. All they've done in the past near 5 years is Kinect Sports. They seriously piss me off because clearly people want a new Banjo game but they totally disregard their fans.
@VinnyVanYiffy where did you hear nintendo is trying to get rare back?
Rare IS dead. All of the original members that worked there during the companies golden age, are gone. Remember Rare as it was in it's glory days.
Capcom turning down Megaman Legends 3, even if you imagine it Capcom will screw up something.
The point is they both stuck together
you know i wanted conker to be in the new smash bros till i realized they were bought by thr
Where did that first conker come from?
Anyone know what the 2 conker games to the left of BFD and to the right to Live and reloaded
ok the second one is the first game and the last one is the remake but what's the first and third?
Rare will always be my favorite game developing companies of all time and think they should just go back to Nintendo if Microsoft cant even use the franchises they bought. I think Microsoft only bought Rare for their name and to 1-up Nintendo not for Banjo or Conker
I just hope Nintendo buys Rareware/Playtonic Games
1981-2002 was amazing. Ghoulies was fine, Conker: Live & Reloaded was great, Kameo was awesome, Perfect Dark Zero was great (albeit dissappointing), Viva Piñata was great, Nuts & Bolts was a good game in general, but terribly disappointing.
Forgot about that one lol
i love conkers bad fur day but REALLY dissapointing ending ;_;
I want Conkers on the 3ds
They should make a New conker game for the D
Yeah, that could've been pretty awesome.
Hey, is having conker bad fur day rare or just awesome?
True, but at least the Xbox Live Arcade ports of the Fist 2 games were still great. Although I would've preferred a new game instead; with similar N64 graphics, similar gameplay (but not too similar, I hate it when sequel games are almost the same), more platforming, better boss battles (the series never had such great battles, some were too easy like Terry and Old King Coal), and NO MACHINES!!
What about Perfect Dark? That game was Legit!
on conker not all of it was like the S word proof Great mighty poos song
Microsoft people and i also wanted a new conker game
I don't know if I'd even trust nintendo with the IP. They just need to become independent again, which we all know wont happen
you live in australia they actually censored the aus version bro they never removed it
Microsoft censoring this game was absolutely disgusting. A lot of the context of the game was taken out. A M-rated game dumbed down like it's for 5 year olds and old sensitive ears to play.
No one really played conker back in the day because moron parents made sure that this "bad" M-rated title was keept unplayed on nintendo while everyone was freaking out about the M rating in ESRB. Microsoft brough this game. I wish the creators of conker would make another conker game like the first one. Now we have so many gutsy and bloody games, but no fun and adult/mature humorous cartoony games like conker.
Well conker will be in project spark
I AGREE WITH U 100% DUDE ...
Conker The Squirrel Yep hey Conker when did you find her?
Why did Microsoft buy RareWare if they didn't have any real plans for them?
did you know the founders of rareware left thr company in 2007
dude i would pay to visit you to play your conkers, i lost mine when i as a youngin, my parents diddent know about the rating =P
What there was no gore but more blood. there was blood all over the screen.
Ah, really? That's awesome! So when I play Metroid Prime Trilogy, I'm actually playing Rare?
Have to agree with you
Very true...
i know this isnt gonna be the same but i say if microsoft isnt gonna let rare make games like banjo threeie conkers other fur day ect. then why dont we make them because with the right kind of people we could make anything!
Illuminati Killed RARE!
I KNOW they could have made mor money over time with their amazing games, why didnt they see this?
Banjo nuts n bolts... Dont think that counts as a Banjo game...
I hate that stupid squirrel and game it's so violent
1-DKR 2-CBFD 3-??? 4-CLAR
Its not in the store, you have to buy the disk.
Yeah but I'm sure they could've done much better than they did with Microsoft, because I think with Microsoft they were just pushed in a direction that just didn't match their style of making games.
Look, I Iove me Conker and Banjo, but Viva Pinata is an awesome game if you actually try it. I bought it on PC though not Xbox :P
True, but then they killed it.
Banjo Kazooie turned from a very fun and successful series to crap. Have you seen 'Nuts and Bolts'?
Are most at retro now.
It makes me so angry that crytek are sitting on there arses not doing anything, other than creating clones of games already out, eg far cry3 and crysis 3 which are coming out over the next few months.
Just imagine what Rare-Ware could of accomplished if they stayed with Nintendo... Makes me sad really.
