  • 🕎Join Ashleigh Wilson as she guides us through the Torah Portion of the week which is Torah Portion Tazria🕎 In this Torah Portion we encounter the laws and commandments in the Torah pertaining to the state of a woman after she gives birth in contrast to the laws of clean and unclean. This Torah Portion begs the question of why do women who give birth to girls remain unclean for longer than boys? If you have ever wondered why are women unclean longer when they give birth to a girl, then check out what Ashleigh has to say in this Biblical teaching.

    ►►Our Vision◄◄
Founded In Truth exists to build a community that bears the image of God and lives the redeemed life Yeshua gives.
⬤⬤⬤The Three Pillars of our Community⬤⬤⬤
    ►►Yeshua◄◄
We are a community formed by the teachings, life, death, and resurrection of a rabbi from Nazareth named Yeshua (Jesus). It is through His spirit by which we find our common bond. Through the paradox of His death on the cross, we find the way to God’s love, the truth of all He is, and the life that only He can provide - one that is eternal. The gospel of Yeshua is the foundation for our community locally and beyond.
    ►►Family◄◄
If there is one thing we celebrate at Founded in Truth, it is family. Whether your household is small or large, local or far away, you are invited to take your place here with us. We thrive together to build up an atmosphere that shows forth God’s love in a very real way not just to be a fellowship but also to teach the children in the community what being an image bearer is all about.
    ►►Fellowship◄◄
We value each other. In the Beginning, God said it was not good for man to be alone. We were meant for fellowship, and we believe when we come together, we celebrate God’s goodness, promises, and grace. We know God has called our lives to intersect, so what better way to fulfill the command of scripture to love one another?

Shabot shalom! I wonder if maybe the longer purification time for a daughter was to allow for the situation where a baby girl bleeds from her vagina in her first few days of life, having absorbed some of her mother's hormones in utero.... More blood needing more purification follows logically. So does Ashleigh's idea, and I like hers better.

Was thinking about this as well. Abba knows our needs. It would certainly be a gift of time for a woman, from her husband who might be inclined to rush a recovery after not concieving a male child. This book was meant for a people who were in a relationship with their God, yet it is often used by those who do not know His nature. He gives His girls grace, opportunity, and responsibility in equal measure...just as a loving father should.

A possible reason for waiting 80 days after delivering a girl baby is to do with the mother's oestrogen being higher than after the birth of a boy. I'm sure it's for the mother's good.
Also, I was encouraged to learn from a rabbi that "clean and unclean" are not to do with clean and dirty, but rather about being unfit for heaven (or the Temple which represented heaven) because of having a mark of the fall on one. (Bleeding, sickness, death and deformity are not going to happen in heaven. )
Being unclean is a normal part of life, and not bad, it just meant you couldn't go to the Temple until you were cleansed and baptised. You could still be hugged and worship in the synagogue. You were not a reject socially. Husbands and wives could still be affectionate during menstruation, but not have sex because that is a holy activity within holy matrimony. She must be baptised after her bleeding and then could engage in sex. The passage about any person or furniture one touches when unclean, becoming unclean, is about awareness. The woman would still sleep in bed with her husband and not on the floor as, apparently, some have misapplied it.
