Me and my wife just seen her and her cub a few days ago at Grand Teton during a bear jam. We asked the ranger if she was 399 and she said " Yes, she's 399" We had time to see them from a distance for a short time then they both left into the thick forrest. We were so fortunate to see 399 with her cub. Before then we seen 1 black bear and after 399 and her cub an hour later we seen another bear jam and seen a mother grizzly with her cub cross the road. A couple of days after my wife read that a bear died by a car. I believe it was in Grand Teton but maybe it was in Yellowstone. I forgot what park she told me. That was sad news..

Thanks Donia! The odds are beginning to swing in our favor. When she has newborn cubs, she typically emerges in May. If she doesn't reproduce, she might stay in the back country and not be seen at all. If she's too old to have cubs, she might never come down into the park again.

Hi Gunner! We are heading out there this Wed. for two weeks. She hasn't emerged yet but I'm not too worried yet and hoping she waits until we arrive. We were just talking about how we'll miss you out there this season! Hope all is well with you!
