I'm really looking forward to the Dragon Ball Super anime coming back; I read all the manga volumes that I can get my hands on and I'm excited about all the new characters. I wanted to make original, fan-made themes for some of them, and this one is for Merus, the galactic patrol agent. I'm very interested to see how they depict his character in the anime, and this theme is the way I felt when experiencing him on the page. Excitement, Grace, Finesse, Heroism etc. I wanted the feel of the Galactic Patrol aspect of him to feel spacey, but heroic, since he really is a hero amongst the rest of the agents. Then his melody transforms when we realize who is truly is, an Angel disguising his true identity. The angelic choir singing his melody represents that realization. Then, breaking the Angel law, he intervenes in mortal matters causing him to fade from existence, in a final sad, but heroic decision. He remembers his time with Goku, and the Galactic Patrol, saying his last words, "I've come to love this galaxy; this universe full of excitement.. please protect it all"...

This theme is honestly perfect. The heroic melody fading out to a divine chorus is so god damn cool.

Listening to it now, it just feels like that would be the kind of theme Merus would have for sure. It's like, his righteous ways are both amping him up and conflicting with his more godly side, as in the song, you can tell he wants to act, but he must refrain himself and remain neutral, as we can hear the calmness that comes with the choir at the end. Yet he still ignores his laws (when it goes back to the heroic rythm) to help save the protagonists. Truly a wonderful character you've brought to life really well with your music. Good job man !
PS : Bro that chorus with the same melody as the begining has me in utter awe, I would like more like this lol. It sure sounds godly as well as heroic. Very well done, again.

I know who this is but I have absolutely no clue what he does, but based on this theme alone I can tell he's pretty cool
He’s definitely very cool 😎 I wasn’t gonna read the manga at first because I wanted to surprised when they brought back the anime but it’s taking so long 😫 haha so I couldn’t resist. But I’m glad I read it because it’s great, and makes me even more excited for the anime. Glad you liked the theme!

But yeah, I get the feeling. I was about to give in and read the Four Knights Of The Apocalypse manga (Seven Deadly Sins sequel) but then the trailer released like last week so that was convenient.

I can definitely see a song like this being played in super. Especially with the choice he makes towards the end of the arc. Being vague to avoid spoiling people, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

@@GladiusThemes Oh gosh, I honestly wasn't expecting you to reply to this! Yeah, keep in mind he lost his angel rank but he didn't lose his galactic patrol rank, he could definently still be a recurring character the same way Jaco, Beerus, Whis, and Broly are! I saw a good point from a comment, Granolah has no reason to really be a recurring character since he wants nothing to do with the Saiyans, while Merus does still hold Goku's respect!

I know you've been seeing me everywhere, so at risk of seeming annoying or fanboyish, I really wanted to give you props for Merus's theme. I only listened to this about 2 days ago, and this song, specifically the leitmotif is in my head, playing on a loop. I think you've got a knack for doing remakes of classic tracks, with unique instrumentations and samples(saw your making Pikkon's theme, that's also a great remake) that either bring a new spin to the theme you're copying, or completely doubles down on the tone the original wanted to carry. However, your original stuff is honestly iconic, and so for that, GLADIUS, I really urge you to keep this going, because this is some really good stuff. I really can't wait to see what else comes out of your original songs because you've gone 2 for 2 in my book, between this and Granolah's themes.

I’m stoked you liked my Merus Theme, i think it’s pretty niche since only a some of the DB fan base have read the manga but I knew I had to make it when I started reading it cos I was hearing this tune in my head. I would love to hear if you have any ideas for originals I could do, specifically DB related, and also anything else! Also, I’m not sure if you’ve heard my original album on here, it’s in a playlist on my channel called “reviving the soul of the imagination” ☺️ I’m writing a storyboard for it so one day it will be an animated film!
