The cool thing is : I know what caused the error xD The bot tried to attack and spam many actions at once, but he didn´t calculate that malygos will become a taunt and tried to attack face, most bots only check the current stage at the start of the turn.
Jonas Platz He called it in case the shaman hexed Malygos (which ended up happening) and thats because it is a very common bot bug. Afaik the bot calculates its entire turn before it plays its first card. In this case there was no taunt frog at the beginning of the turn (since Malygos wasn't hexed then) so one of the other creatures (prolly Gnomish Inventor) was chosen as the target to be killed with Rockbiter. However since Hex added a taunt the designated target could not be attacked and the bot bugged out. Kripp basically only called the hex while the consequences were to be expected.
cgtoche Today I learned in Math class that if you were to travel back in time you will most probably land in space - of course depending on the time span you have been travelling back. Bc earth and sun are themselves travelling through the universe. When you travel back in time you'll end up the same place you started your journey just in another time - so the earth wont be at the same spot you are standing right now. Sick shit right there, guys!
Ikari1212 actually, you would end up in space no matter what, since the earth moves around the sun which moves around the black hole in our galaxy which is constantly moving as the universe expands
He must've holding this secret in hand since the beginning, because mad scientist only takes secrets from the cards that are still in the deck, not in hand
I wonder if a bot would be smart enough to know what to do if Kel'Thuzad gets played. Would it keep trying for the efficient trades on other minions, only to get confused when they rise from the dead? Or would it know that killing everything else is futile while KT is alive? Here is what I think would happen to the bot: >NEW MINION ON FIELD. NAME: KEL'THUZAD. STATS: 6/8 RARITY: LEGENDARY >UNABLE TO KILL AT CURRENT TIME >COMMENCING TRADES WITH OTHER MINIONS >ENDING TURN >ERROR: THE MINIONS HAVE COME BACK >KILLING MINIONS AGAIN >ENDING TURN >ERROR: THE MINIONS ARE ALIVE AGAIN >RECALCULATING >RECALCULATING >RECALCULATING >3RR0R >3R00R >$^#%& >SHUTTING DOOOOWWWNNNN.........
+Slenderman'18 People that program bots have a giant loop which will find out the best plays, also bots are programmed to know exactly what to do for each creature and find the best outcome
+Slenderman'18 Correction: Process would be more like - Turn Start: Check enemy cards in play, See Kelthuzad, can't kill, go to kill other cards, kill other cards, run out of moves, end turn. A good bot will just try to kill the kelthuzad, like removing taunt cards to hit it etc.
Kripp aperently doesn't know because the second person was not a bot. but the obvious way is that a bot never mouses over a card so you never see the red outline.
a bot makes actions within a certain set time. Also, against a bot you will never see the "mouse-hover" feature from your enemy, cards will just be played instantly.
The amount of pain I went through reading all the "but Kripp, I'm unable to recognize simple patterns, how could those have been bawts" is too damn high
Wait do bots choose what they draw etc. or do they just make the best value plays as if they were a very good player under the usual circumstances? Im a bit confused...
Some might be able to however I would assume most don't. The ones that do probably go off a predetermined list like trumps card scale and always choose the best value. Some might factor in mana curve but I highly doubt it. It is possible they exist but it's unlikely.
When normal people target minions for attack you can see a red circle around minions. The bot just attacked with nothing showing. Also it's impossible to select a card in your hand without the card hovering hence it was a bot
+Byakuya bou When you play a card or attack something there's an animation, but since the bots do it instantly there is no animation (notice how when cards are played they immediately come out and don't hover for a moment). Also, every turn the bot needs a few seconds to think before it does anything, and after each play it takes a couple seconds to think some more.
+Byakuya bou From Botting when I originally started Hearthstone the conclusion is Humans are smarter than code programmers. We can think turns ahead and play style where as bots will chose face or control.
+Jimmy Evans It's not that programmers are more stupid than the average player; it's that making a bot that plays better than the majority of players is difficult.
Thaddeus Pitch Also, while machine learning can be quite good, there aren't any bots which are capable of identifying which type of deck they're playing against, which is something very important to know and can drastically affect how you approach the game. This is the main reason why bots in arena can be so successful, since all the decks are seemingly random and it just comes down to making the most efficient play. There isn't any information that you can know as a human over a bot in arena.
+Byakuya bou They don't. Actually, I'm not convinced that those are bots. Humans take time to think too. Also, due to network lag, the opponent's actions can sometimes appear delayed while they're not. And finally, those red arrows don't appear if you're playing against someone who uses a mobile phone or a tablet. At least, they don't always appear in the same way. Think about it. If those red arrows would be _the_ way to identify bots, wouldn't the bot programmers just make them appear by simulating the mouse movement at human speed?
Am I the only one who noticed that the bot started with a death rattle that brings a secret onto the battlefield for him but when it triggered he got nothing but then late game had vaporize? I am really confused.
maybe he had the vaporize in the hand? Doesn't the deathrattle say "put a secret from your deck..." ? So, if the secret is in the hand, then it is not played.
***** Thats how u always get games in arena, they stick bots in to fill. Same goes with ranking (less in rank tho) but not everybody has the same score or similar as you in arena at that time when u queue. So blizzard puts bots in.
***** It used to be a huge problem back when this video was recorded, mostly in ranked though. Since then Blizzard has done several banwaves of players using automation software - nowadays you basically don't see them at all anymore. I don't know if Bobby Lin is trolling or not, but everything he said about Blizzard populating arena and ranked with their own bots is completely false. Any AI opponents found outside of practice and adventure modes are player accounts running automation software - which violates the terms of use of the game.
Like I said to another comment, bots can highlight cards now, will greet you and won't play cards at a fixed speed. You may have played against dosensns of bots without knowing. There are a lot of different bots, some better some worse.
***** well... one of the bots that I fought against had a targeting arrow but a very buggy one, if i am not mistaken one of these bots went against trump some time ago.
RobisBobis777 So, what makes them bots? I see the opponent waiting and thinking about what to play. That's not the sign of a bot. A bot calculates things much faster. This is a human.
it was definitely a bot, why would a human player play rockbiter, hex a target and not attack the frog with a rockbiter? Plus the movements were very structured and there were no targeting arrows.
Jan Ham well i am sure the user checks on his bot from time to time to see if it gets stuck? obviously these bots still need improvement in condition handling
Love how the bot tried to attack your minion, just because something went wrong with this hex :D Maybe it was a misplay exception that wasnt handled :D
I like how this dude gets so salty... U got every fuckin card bro. Ur one arena don't mean shit whatsoever. Look at chess engines, they can outplay most human players without thinking for more than a second.
Because a chess board has a finite amount of plays and moves, therefore program them all isn't hard, and duplicating them. They can make the best possible move, so they could be beat before, now they know how to take risks and make bad plays to make future plays possible making them near impossible to defeat, It's different with heartstone with addtions of new cards and mechanics in the game, give it sometime and there will be a perfect bot. And btw he's Kripp, and i would be salty if i lost to a bot lol, but that draft is amazing
Steven Ye That is actually untrue.Moves and their combos are significantly more in chess than in hearthstone.Hearthstone is definetly a simpler game, it's just that you 'll never see MIT designing a hearthstone bot.
***** Ofcourse they are, but imagine if hearthstone would stay unupdated for a hundred years and people would be making bots for it, how advanced they would be. And these bots are what, few months old.
There was a bug against the second bot lol. At 15:13 Kripparrian kill the Mad Scientist and doesnt came up a secret, but he put a secret laster on at 21:56 Or was in his hand from the start of the game..
Regardless, try to add these "bots" as friends from 'Last played' in friends list. Try to send them hero messages and stuff. Probably they are just real players! Although this first match looks suspicious I must admit... 9:25 it seems to want to attack a minion behind the taunt, while it can't because it did rockbitter -> Hex -> Attack, but then the minion behind the taunt is protected :P
I'm pretty sure the first bot fucked up because of the Hex. It used Rockbiter Weapon with the intention of killing the 2/3 but it didn't reassess after taunting with Hex, so it just kept trying to attack the 2/3 through the taunt.
the bot works fine but i have 1 problem the bot is bugging when for example throw (living roots) in druid the bot bugging and it cant select one of the 2 spells of living roots please help me
It used to cost 0, but then Blizzard noticed the incredible amount of burst damage this gave to warlocks, who could almost always OTK you by using soulfire to break taunts for free after they already played all 10 mana getting the burst ready. So what they did is they made it cost 1, so the combo couldn't be played. Sa,e Idea for increasing the cost of Leeroy and Auctioneer, but for Miracle Rogue.
Bots can beat humans in almost every computer game, when a good amount of effort is put into programming them. Humans can't compete with machines in more and more areas of life.

Now, what I don't understand is, why doesn't Blizzard hire the people who made the bots so that they could fix the Ingame AI?
+blinxguy you sir are a genius
+meaturama really? why?
+meaturama yeah why
meaturama I haven't heard that before.
hearthstone makes alot of money

I love how the bot BMs when he has lethal
just a program
I know, that's why it's funny
how did he BM? by summoning all the cards he had left?
Yeah
***** It's for exp not for BM.
Thumbs up for an excellent terminator reference.
He just srsly called that bot crash. Krip Illuminati confirmed!
Jonas Platz
He called it in case the shaman hexed Malygos (which ended up happening) and thats because it is a very common bot bug. Afaik the bot calculates its entire turn before it plays its first card. So we're going to have to send Kripp back in time to stop Hearthstone from ever been made?
Come with me if you don't want to become a sellout casual
Kripp, you have to learn some Kung Fu... the past is dangerous!
cgtoche Today I learned in Math class that if you were to travel back in time you will most probably land in space - of course depending on the time span you have been travelling back. 1:47 since skripperino didnt exist yet
AfonsodelCB thanks
15:10 = no secret from Mad Scientist
21:57 = casts secret
the heck?
It casts the secret from the deck, but he had 1 secret in his hand. Mad scientist can't cast a card from your hand. This comment is a cluster fuck.
Mad scientist only gets a secret from his deck
He must've holding this secret in hand since the beginning, because mad scientist only takes secrets from the cards that are still in the deck, not in hand
oh yea forgot that
I drew the secret turn 2 actually, terrible RNG

Slenderman'18 you can just count out everything that will happen, "evaluate the resulting board" and go for the most value play.
+Slenderman'18 People that program bots have a giant loop which will find out the best plays, also bots are programmed to know exactly what to do for each creature and find the best outcome

9:38 who was that?
😂😂
That's WoWHobbs!
That was Rania
am i the only one almost died laughing at 13:28 when he said: "I lost the game, but he lost his account, basically the same thing" xDD
Lukas Andersen Probably yes. You guys from the north have strange sense of humour :))
FeelsBadMan ...
Kripp that was the best video you've released to date, that first game was hilarious. Skynet cannot overcome Hex easily.
5:36 The Shaman briefly high-lights the Felguard. Still a bot?
actively started to upvote your videos again, nice to see you up the effort/content's quality
how to you identify that you are against a bot?
Kripp aperently doesn't know because the second person was not a bot. but the obvious way is that a bot never mouses over a card so you never see the red outline.
Exactly 2 seconds between each action and no unnecessary card-movements.
a bot makes actions within a certain set time. Also, against a bot you will never see the "mouse-hover" feature from your enemy, cards will just be played instantly.
Andreas Bendorff and that mage never did mouse over...
I saw a highlight at 5:35 watch closely at the taunted minion.
The amount of pain I went through reading all the "but Kripp, I'm unable to recognize simple patterns, how could those have been bawts" is too damn high
firedrake110 Seriously. It's so blatantly obvious, especially when the shaman bugged out
But wait, how did you realize it is a bot
Kripp has the accounts with the bots if you can't tell by looking at the reflection on his glasses
+SolDiTV because of the attack times
+SolDiTV There are no arrows when it attacks something
+hopyfullyapro it hovered over something
+hopyfullyapro HearthRanger does that now so I'm not sure how to tell which are the bots.
9:38 "Stop trying to attack your other minions" Wtf please tell me im not the only one who heard that XD
Nathan Parker who the hell was that?
God knows, either way is creeped me the hell out XD
Nathan Parker it was the voice of God
Tom Scorpion
Damn its like an Epiphany
I'm pretty sure it was one of his mods on stream saying "he's stuck trying to attack your other minions"
Did anyone notice that the Mage Bot got no secret from Mad Scientist 15:07 but then played a secret at 21:56?? WHAT THE FF
maybe he already had the secret in his hand?
thats because mad scientist effect only applies to secrets in your deck not in your hand.
oh right, forgot about that possibility ahaha sorcery xD
Loved the Terminator quote! That was one of the best lines.
Skynet is ruining our arena experience... they hit us where it hurts the most.
at 5:37 the you can see a red outline on the Fellguard. is this possible for a bot?
i struggle to get 3 win... this brotha is insane lol
Then u just have a shitty arena deck, learn to use curve
TheBadassEagle don't be a dick. you can have the best curve in the history of the game, but get terrible cards to draft from
Shawn Brock That's exactly what I meant but this guy just needs to use curve
TheBadassEagle But you didn't tell him what that even means
You basically just told him "you suck" and nothing else, kind of rude bro
Pseudo Arch He probably thinks he's 'badass', meh.
This summer, Kripp will rise against the machines... DUN-DUN-DUN!
Oh man this is a long one!
Wait do bots choose what they draw etc. or do they just make the best value plays as if they were a very good player under the usual circumstances? Im a bit confused...
Anyone else notice the mad scientist didn't play a secret but later, the mage played a secret?
What was that life tap with Soulfire on hand?
Mursa he knew that he could play anything he drew
I was rekt by a face hunter bot
8:45
Kripp called it
Kripp was playing MalyLock in the Arena many months before it was discovered in ladder
I wonder if the bots draft too.
Yes
No they dont
Some might be able to however I would assume most don't. The ones that do probably go off a predetermined list like trumps card scale and always choose the best value. Some might factor in mana curve but I highly doubt it. It is possible they exist but it's unlikely.
NoobyRussian They play all the cards, which is much harder. Why is drafting them unlikely?
CHRLPTRSN Of course. Every well programmed AI is better than human. Humans make mistakes. AI without bugs...holy shit...we can go screw ourselves.
How come the mage had secret, Mad Scientist didnt proc anything at 15:08 while it died but he had a secter to play at 21:58?
He already had a secret in his hand
So question: How does he know it's a bot, exactly? Can he be sure of that, how would he know?
He hardly hovers over the cards....
When normal people target minions for attack you can see a red circle around minions. The bot just attacked with nothing showing. Also it's impossible to select a card in your hand without the card hovering hence it was a bot
xDxFURIOUSxVx It did hover over the felguard at 5:37 though :P
Shawn Ho Yee Jing Bots can hover over cards though (just saying)
Hardly
Why not life tap at 25:25 before shadow bolt?
How do you guys know it's a bot?
I am a new player, so it's a legit question. ;-;

maybe he had the vaporize in the hand? Doesn't the deathrattle say "put a secret from your deck..." ? So, if the secret is in the hand, then it is not played.
True But it looked like he top decked it but he most likely had it in hand as you said.
Lol that really made me laugh when you were like "Oh shit he recovered :O"
It's kinda sad that the bots in Hearthstone are better than Blizzards own AI for this game.
Don't know if its a bot. At 5:35 you can see the red mouse-over outline on the Felguard.
I didnt realize there were bots in the game.

crowleyswhitehorse Yea I wasnt buying that arena had bots from blizzard.
@bobby no a lot of people just play this game
+Bobby Lin man you have no idea what you're talking about
I love these longer videos Kripp!
lol error error... cant press the thing I need to because of sudden taunt. xD
How did he bring the card back into his hand from play at 4:05 ?
Rigth click XD
Fredd PlaysTheGames actully i think he pressed Esc
I don't thnik the 2nd guy was a bot. He highlighted his minions when attacking. Might just have been an Ipad player
Like I said to another comment, bots can highlight cards now, will greet you and won't play cards at a fixed speed. You may have played against dosensns of bots without knowing. There are a lot of different bots, some better some worse.
Thats an interesting point... I wonder if it draws an arrow when you are playing cards on an iPad because you simply just tap the cards....
Pretty sure it was a bot, just look at the intervalls between his moves
***** well... one of the bots that I fought against had a targeting arrow but a very buggy one, if i am not mistaken one of these bots went against trump some time ago.
I was also playing against a Bot that was hovering over his cards for 0.5 second but he always needed 2 seconds after an action.
Another Hearthstone video, another like.
GOD I hope I am in this video!!!!
What exactly makes you think those are bots? What's the indicator?
☑ “HE HAD THE ONLY ALGORITHMS THAT COULD BEAT ME!”
Right when 9:18 happened, ive got blue screened...
Holy fuck, that scared the shit out of me
So much misinformation in the comments about bots...
Just count the timing between every move / play, it's the exact same every time
His mouse never hovers over the cards in his hand either.
The first Person he played was not a bot, you can tell because the person checks Kripparrian's Felguard at 5:37 something which a bot would not do
Adam Vatai pay attention to the pauses between plays - they are always of the same length
Bots don't inspect cards in the hand or on the board. First one was not a bot.
They absolutely can inspect cards in hand, they can also do targeting arrows like normal players now, too.
Arthas Leks Hearthbuddy does but it looks like a different program.
RobisBobis777 So, what makes them bots? I see the opponent waiting and thinking about what to play. That's not the sign of a bot. A bot calculates things much faster. This is a human.
obionedogan You've obviously never used a bot in hearthstone if you think it calculates instantly.
Nrammar Gazi
That didn't answer my question. What are the sure signs of a bot that can't be imitated by a human?
Why didn't the mage's mad scientist put his vaporize onto the field when it died?
Someone is good at the game. ITS A BOT
Someone has to go to the toilet/do something else mid game. BOT IS HAVING AN ERROR!!
it was definitely a bot, why would a human player play rockbiter, hex a target and not attack the frog with a rockbiter? Plus the movements were very structured and there were no targeting arrows.
5 seconds to decide every move, seems odd for a human to count to 5 before doing every move.
+Pure Gaming on iPad (iOS 7), the game crashes a LOT and it takes 30 seconds to a minute to reconnect.
it was a bot, you didnt see it scroll over or target any cards lol.
Matt Almeida I'm pretty sure iPad users don't have that either, although I could be wrong.
How do you return the minion that does two damage after you already placed it down...
Battlecry cancel. If there's a minion with a targetted battlecry like that card amd you don't pick a target, the card returns to your hand.
Thank you for telling me, altough i figured it out on my own. You get a golden star sticker for being a helpful person thought
How do you know if you play against a bot? lol
MrJoeyShow They never show the red circle when hovering over a card, hero portrait, or hero power.
thanks
***** (not to seem like a dick or nitpick) around 5:40 it did "hover" over the Felguard, just wondering what happened there.
Jan Ham well i am sure the user checks on his bot from time to time to see if it gets stuck?
obviously these bots still need improvement in condition handling
this was before mobile version was released so it is bot
Love how the bot tried to attack your minion, just because something went wrong with this hex :D Maybe it was a misplay exception that wasnt handled :D
Omg. he seemed so much happier before.
is he that tired of hearthstone?
Why did the bot crash on the first fight?
So bots are better than I am
Seriously I think im gonna read a bot algorithm to learn about arena
Is it possible to draft two of the same legendaries in an arena deck? like 2 dr.boom .
Yes.. It's random so you could get a deck of all the same card yet almost impossible
Anti Sinicle It is impossible because of the different rarity of the cards. You can't get all common.
I like how this dude gets so salty... U got every fuckin card bro. Ur one arena don't mean shit whatsoever.

Sorry but the math in hearthstone is sped compared to chess.
I am sorry. I am wrong.
***** Ofcourse they are, but imagine if hearthstone would stay unupdated for a hundred years and people would be making bots for it, how advanced they would be. And these bots are what, few months old.
How come it didn't have any Secrets first and in the end used one ? Don't get it... 22:10 .
Melchisedech85 The secret was in his hand the entire time
thnak you for this motivation video, after this i finaly decide to find and try bot, 8 wins after first arena run, nice start i think
There was a bug against the second bot lol.
At 15:13 Kripparrian kill the Mad Scientist and doesnt came up a secret, but he put a secret laster on at 21:56
Or was in his hand from the start of the game..
The mage bot played a secret at the end, must've had that from the beginning since mad scientist didn't deploy it
I wonder if the bots drafted their own cards, or if the user has to pick the cards before running the bot.
At 5:37 he hovers over your Felguard...why would a bot do that?
I'm pretty sure the first bot fucked up because of the Hex. It used Rockbiter Weapon with the intention of killing the 2/3 but it didn't reassess after taunting with Hex, so it just kept trying to attack the 2/3 through the taunt.
This is Kripp Connor, if you are listening to this, you are the resistance...
His Twitch chat is full of pure gold during his games against bots
How did Kripp call that hexing the malygos would crash the bot?
the bot works fine but i have 1 problem the bot is bugging when for example throw (living roots) in druid the bot bugging and it cant select one of the 2 spells of living roots please help me
chris pro don't use bots...
Oh, the memories of 0 mana soul fire. FeelsGreatMan
I like how he says "I lost the game, but he lost his account" lol
I don't understand how 5:50 that play made him realize it was a bot and not killing the buff creature instead of the 2/1 ?
Even Malygos answers the call to join the war against the machines.
Good stuff. Like the terminator reference.
How do you get the number of opponent wins in the Arena?
You are paired against people with similar wins
Wait how does your soul fire cost 0 mana
Breandan Kong back in the day back in the day
Does it not cost 0?
TheBadassEagle no
It used to cost 0, but then Blizzard noticed the incredible amount of burst damage this gave to warlocks, who could almost always OTK you by using soulfire to break taunts for free after they already played all 10 mana getting the burst ready. So what they did is they made it cost 1, so the combo couldn't be played. Sa,e Idea for increasing the cost of Leeroy and Auctioneer, but for Miracle Rogue.
The Bots are learning and evolving.
Are the bots players trying to farm or are they Blizzard making sure there are enough players for matchmaking?
of course its players there is more then enough People on hearthstone.
How can you tell if someone's a bot? There's been times where I've though they were but not been sure how to check
They don't hover over cards in their hand and there is no attack arrow when they attack.
The bot didn't have a secret in his deck when the science guy died, but still later in the game he played a vaporize?
"If you hex the Maligos your software will crash."
Kripp's a hacker.
Bots can beat humans in almost every computer game, when a good amount of effort is put into programming them. Humans can't compete with machines in more and more areas of life.
The second one had a secret( he played it later) yet it didn't come out when the mad scientist died! Weird....
"perhaps skynet is real" lmao
That shammys deck was CRAZY
I like the whole idea of these bots it makes the game more fun when you face them
How is this possible? at 15:08 kripp kills the mad scientist. Then at 21:55 the same player plays a secret? Something's not right...
The secret was in his hand the entire time. Mad Scientist plays secrets from your deck not your hand.
That's how my hearthstone looks from my phone on WiFi when it's laggy. Your paranoid bro.
Insane! Didn´t know about the bots... Do they activate bots only if servers are empty? or all the time..? anyway it´s kind of weird! =)
Alex Trojer A bot is just a program playing on a real player's account. Like 24/7 (so the player gets close to unlimited rewards).
Tom Scorpion yeah learned it a few months ago! Thx anyway for the answer dude =)
Mankind's counterattack begins today.
Predicterino Kripperino
7:43 - just keep watching for a few minutes, there's a combo prediction
There is no way telling if that's a bot or not. At 5:36 you can see a hover over the Taunting 3/5 Demon. Also, the time he spents thinking varies.
Precisely... this is a dumb video.
My bots programmed to do that automatically and hover over cards or even respond to emotes. This is old stuff.
