A friend of our family bravely fought bone cancer for 18 months before it finally took him. He had 'Bright side of life' played at his funeral. I've been to plenty of funerals where everyone sobs their hearts out, but I've only been to one where we laughed a lot. Tony was a funny guy and so it was only fitting that he should go out with songs that make you laugh.

I'd never heard of them until the Holy Grail movie came out in '75, but they'd just started showing Flying Circus on KERA in Dallas.-the first time they were on tv in America. We never missed the show after that. They were also showing some other British comedies at that time-The Goodies and Ripping Yarns are the only ones I recall the names of. Loved those shows.
I'm so glad my mum introduced me into python. I'm 14 now and have been watching it since I was 9 (don't critisice she didn't let me watch the extra bad things) I was lucky enough to go to the live show and it's one of the best things ever.

But yes, Eric Idle was generally the most musically gifted of the official members and performed the majority of the songs, and Neil Innes contributed a lot behind the scenes (and in the case of Sir Robin's minstrel, on screen) for the TV series, movies, albums and live shows.

The two of us had also seen all the Pythons live in 1980 at the Hollywood Bowl, the shows which were released in film format sometime after. Sadly, it's two down and four to go now.
