Thanks for the shout out Keith but I need to be clear, I didn't invent the Mul-Tbar. Colton Howell gets credit for that. I just seen his build and decided to make my own. These Mul-Tbar rod racks are amazing and strongly recommend them.
TA DAY is fathers day! Happy Fathers day! The new boat is broke in and the walleye have been filleted! MMMMMMM! Cajun breading and we are eating! The best part was we caught two big catfish on spoons and we had them for breakfast! I will be making these for each side of the boat! Thank you, stay safe, tight lines and keep on catchin!
Thank you very much, I like the design and and simple to make. I know I can make it from steal because aluminum is not that common where I am, but paint is always around. I looked these up online and saw $450 for a pair. That's ridiculous, with such a easy design and a few tools. Thank you again
I used your rod holder hack only I shortened the top and put my fish finder on it. It really cool, thanks for the idea and keep up the good work. I’ll be watching .
Very nice. Cool build. 😎. Thank you for sharing this with us. Hmmm.🤔. (thinking). If a guy made one of them with just the upright part (not the horizontal rod holder part), your buddy could put an action camera on it (GoPro type) and it would be adjustable. He could put it on the front (facing back) and film a whole day of fishing and not have to hold the camera. Just a thought. Have a great day on the water.
Brother, i'm so glad you were able to get back on the safety-train and address the need for PPE! That aluminum shrapnel might have killed you! Great content as usual, sir!
Even though I have no idea how you built this rod holder, I gotta say it's pretty damn cool. The fact that they lay down and are adjustable makes them sweet. You got talent boy.
You have been such a Giant help to me ! You have some of the gosh wonderful ideas, I have seen in a long time !!!!!! So glad I found your channel ! Thank Ya !
This video is awesome. I was thinking about building some rod holders for my boat and you come out with the video on how to make them. You are the MAN!
My fishing hack is you take work out matts and cur them to fit the bottom of boat and cover up carpeting. Nice on the feet and easy to clean. Easy clean up of fish slim. I love them. See it any one else can come uo with. A hack on work out matts that go together like a puzzle. Thank dave !!!!!
Great rod rack just built 2 but instead of tapping for bolts I just through bolted and offset where bolts came through block it was a lot easier then tapping and works the same Thanks for the video!
I really like those they would be great for spider rigging out the front of my boat or long lining out the back I love how they can fold down for storage awesome video keep em comin
You have some of the best ideas , I have seen !!!! I just want to Thank you Again for all of the information you are putting out here on YTube ! Keep up the great work !!!!!!!!
I had some Rigid cordless tools purchased about 16 years ago from the Homeless Despot and my first battery charger caught fire and burned up. At least it wasn't in a place where it could cause a disaster. The store gave me a new Rigid cordless tools set, but that was wierd and the only time I have ever seen a battery charger blowing up like that with Sparks shooting out. It is rare but things can be defective and be hazardous.
Change the bolts on the bottom and top to wing bolts so you can do it by hand and won't need a wrench when you want to adjust things. Great job, looks totally useful and cool.
The idea is good but will never work. Even with nuts, and tightened with a wrench it will still move. Thats why the original manufacture of these exact rod racks (MulTbar Rod racks) Uses a set screw in conjuction with stainless steel nuts to lock everything in place.
A lot of drilling and screwing (okay, threading) but dang nice looking.... But I think on my ProCraft, after some thinking and looking, I'm gonna do a metal rod contraption that will hook under my cleats that will hold the rod holders on a similar adjustable angle, and removable from the cleats, where they could be stowed away.... What I liked about this one just now, was the aluminum stock. That's even better than the steel I was going to use. But words are nice, I just need to to start fabrication of it and get it done. I got this idea from one of your subscribers on the FB channel.... and I'll give him credit when I do this.
@@coltonhowell3049 you are and I have seen them. If I didn't already have rod holders and electronics mounts that I was satisfied with yours would be on my boats
@@SquirrelHunter1 That's the problem today, everyone wants to make a $ million over night and charge 10,000% of T&M. Build your own and save $900 or more. I have, and also added a lil tweak how you mount them on my particular boat.
Hey man, I got another simple DIY idea for you. I just started using an Alabama rig for bass fishing and needed a way to fit it in the Plano 3600 style box. I ended up just taking the plastic ring off of a Coke bottle and flipping it inside out. Then I cut all of those little teeth off of it and slid it up onto my A-rig to keep all of the wires together. Then I cut a small v in the top of the center divider on the Plano box for the neck of the A-rig to sit on. Then when I want to use it I just take it out of the box and slide the ring back off. The wires automatically spring right back the way I have them bent.
You can also make one something like that to use to make a adjustable base for your electronic fish finder for more adjustability .. Check out Corn Field Crappie and see how theirs is done . I made one it,s great . While your at it check out their rod racks for transporting your rods in your boat . Made some of those from black cutting boards from Amazon ,use a router and a clove bit to clean those up. Just a few ideas .. I,m going to make some of those rod racks you did . Cool...
Another grand slam DIY video brother...you are a master craftsman!!! Love your sense of humor too...that PPE zinger was unexpected and was a belly laugh. Love your channel!!! Happy Fathers Day!
Instead of using WD-40 when cutting aluminum take a cheap white emergency candle and press it to each side of the blade while it is on before you cut. It won't let the aluminum build up and clog the teeth
As everyone has said that is awesome, only thing i would change would be using wing bolts to be able to adjust it without a wrench or ratchet, but otherwise another grandslam.
That got a subscription from me… I’ll be using a RAM ball & socket mount I have laying around instead of machining out the material. Thanks for the idea
I watch all your videos and love them! Thank you forgot taking the time to making them so detailed. Also, every time I am working on a project at home, I hear the music that you play in my head. Lol

I know that you like to promote the company's that sell these products. This design is by MulTBar Rod Racks on Facebook. The guy that makes these is named Colton Howell out of Iowa. He is a solid guy that makes a great product. This is probably the most well thought out and versatile design I have seen come out of the catfish community. I use them on my own boat. If you do not build them yourself, please consider Colton's MulTBar.
Yep i talked to him today and I wasn't aware he sold em . But I am now . So ima try and put him on the map . Sometimes some of the best builders aren't very well know
On your video on rod wrapping , i discovered that using baseball bat wrap looks and feels awesome too and it's cheaper than sniper wrap try it sometime if you haven't already.
I love baseball wrap . I was going to do a video on it back in the 90s when I carp fished . It was normal to get syrup on your rod handles . Using baseball wrap made em comfortable and it was easy to change when they got all sticky
How about a good DIY Rod Holder system for a Pontoon boat? Few options out there other than Monster that are really good for Pontoon rails. Personally I only get to fish reservoirs, so I pretty much have to fish out the side. Problem I have run into is, the seat placement, and the bimini top can get in the way. Just seeing if you might have a solution. Thanks!!
They look really good. Will that one bolt on the adjustable bolt and nut hold enough on a big fish takedown? Guess a body could drill another hole and insert a pin to lock it down.
For sure a copy from MulTbar . One thing I can see is by making the bottom swing forward and backwards could be a problem. Vibration will loosen bolts. MulTbar locks one way which I think is a good thing. Still your version is a lot lighter and that is nicen
Love it, but have 2 questions. 1. Did you put nuts underneath the deck for the 4 mounting screws on each base? 2. Is the screw that goes down through the block just tapped into the base or does it go through the base and deck? Thanks!
I really like the adjustable rod rack and want to build on for myself. I managed to get all the dimensions except for the top plate that holds the rod holders and the very bottom mounting plate. I really enjoy watching your channel and appreciate everything thing you do, it's PRETTY AWESOME
Did you use a carbide bit for the deeper-block holes? At lower RPM? Diving into this DIY....bought cutting wax to help with heat....have titanium coated bit for holes pre-tap.
