    Great to see how you place emphasis on the safety aspects of repairs. In the event of a crash, you certainly wouldn’t want your frame rails to be lacking in structural integrity. Also good to see that your repairs always look as good as it came from the factory.

    I couldn’t help to notice that WIA Miller Tig welder in the background the yellow machine. That is one excellent machine.
    I did notice the western star you boys built. The stainless work was next level.
    Darryl you must have learnt some stuff over the years. Stainless steel is the hardest to make custom finish. The rear piece you boys made was art. Now Mick has your knowledge and he continues it on.
    Hopefully you boys build another truck.
    Keep the videos coming.

      I think the boys must have some good gear in the back shed. Darryl definitely knows his stuff. He has shown Mike the ropes. They seem to like the old welders. This car has definitely been a mission and they just make the whole thing look easy. Even with the older machines.

      Absolutely you are right there Colin. It’s so important to get your car back to safe rolling shell.
      The knowledge Darryl and Mick are sharing is priceless. I am amazed Darryl is sharing his profession to this degree. But it’s so worth it for the young beaters building cars in a safe and correct manner.

    • @colinmiles9390
      @colinmiles9390 6 місяців тому +1

      @@restorationkingsking if professional coach workers like Darryl and Mick don’t share then there won’t be anyone to share with the youth of today as most of the young generation think they know it all and can overlook so many areas where thankfully these boys aren’t afraid to show the real workings of how a car rebuild should be based upon. I was lucky growing up thanks to the teaching of my father who was classed as old school but as I’ve learned myself over the years, there is no replacement for old school teaching . Too many just browse over the mistakes these days instead of teaching the underlined damage caused which I’m thankful these two fine men meet that head on.

    Those crappy front sections were a good pick-up, it's has been a real slapdash repair .. with pigeon s**t welding, it's not difficult to get good penatration on material of that thickness .Image if the vehicle sustained a serious accident? That sway bar is a mystery it would have to have been driven miles rubbing to produce the large flat. Could it have it been caused by a dill using a grinder? Keep up the great work, boys.

    Hi Guys, It has been great watching your work that you have done with the XU1. I have been restoring a GTR and purchased a K-MAC front sway bar for the car which has the same mounting as the bar that the XU1 has. What surprised me was that when you tighten the U-bolts the flat plates of the U-bolts locks the K-frame to the chassis rail which I thought was strange as the K-frame is an insulated joint. I know you are building a concourse car but because I'm not I manufactured special 6061 aluminium brackets to allow the K-frame to be independent of the chassis rails. Look forward to what you find out about the XU1 bar from people that have accurate information on these cars. Keep up with the excellent work. Cheers Andrew

  • @jrs0071
    @jrs0071 6 місяців тому +3

    They always rust out there. The LJ I owed 30+ years ago had rust in that part of the chassis with a similar dodgy patch....

  • @Louie2309
    @Louie2309 14 днів тому

    Regarding the sway bar wear, I had a lowered car that saw track duty and at full suspension drop at speed ground a similar flat spot on the car. Nothing like wheels falling off had happened, just a hard working suspension system coming in contact with the road. This is one of the reasons 100 mm ride height is required for road use to stop components of the car under load coming in contact with the road with potential to dig in.

      The rail was not bad enough to cause any gap problems. These are only small repairs.
