    I'm a big fan of both companies. I've purchased and used the AM8, K699D, PD100X, and PD400X. The AM8 gets the most use because I can just hook it up real quick and it just sounds fabulous for meetings, presentations and voiceovers when I'm at home. I also think the PD400x deserves more attention and love. Maybe it's because people expect a lot at that price point, where the Lewitt LCT 240 and other great mics live, but to me it delivers nicely.

    • @DaveSoltura
      @DaveSoltura 2 місяці тому

      Agreed! The AM8 is definitely one of the best for plug and play use. And I concur with your thoughts on the PD400x. It’s very pricey for a brand associated with being budget-oriented, but it performs like a far pricier mic.

    Love the video! Nailed it perfectly. For me, the PM500 is my favorite maono mic, darker condenser mic. And the fifine k669d with the big SM7B pop filter is my favorite fifine mic.

      I just checked your PM500 review out, and I can hear why it’s your favorite! And yes, the K669d with pop filters is brilliant! Tames the highs, and improves an already exceptional plosive-resistant mic. We should do a video podcast for geeking out some time!😀

    Hey Dave new subscriber here after watching so many videos, I was wondering if you would recommend the a6v from Fifine or dm20 from Maono for gaming and streaming at a beginner level

    • @DaveSoltura

      Thanks for the sub!! Either is fine! A6v has very slightly better quality, dm20 has noise cancellation built in. I’d pick the dm20 for beginner streaming!

    As someone who's just getting into Streaming and Creator Content on another Channel, I realized (a week after I began streaming recently) that the RODE NT USB+ I bought for $150, was a mistake. I should've gone with a DYNAMIC Mic, such as either of these two. For me, the Maono PD400x on another guy's video sounded so good. It sounded like the famous Pod Mic from Rode, but better because it didn't sound as Harsh in the Highs right out of the Box and it had some better Lows that really seemed to give the guy's voice just a small but nice touch of warmth when compared to the Pod Mic from Rode. It also has way way way more bells and whistles that are actually functional (for my use case) and that are beautifully implemented such as the Touch to Mute feature and the Gain Knob on the Front.
    I wish I hadn't bought the Rode NT USB+ Condenser Mic because now that I realize it, I always have background noise from (primarily) an AC Unit that always needs to be on (or else it gets UNCOMFORTABLE AS HECK in this room) and also, now that I think about it, I LOVE the idea of a Mic having a XLR *AND* a USB/USB C input! I thought the Shure MV7 was the only one that did this but no! These two companies are leading the way as well with the future of that design style. That's so amazing and flexible IMO.
    I missed the Maono PD400x Lightning Deal on Amazon last night by like 1 hour man and I feel so stupid. It was selling for only $112 with 10% off, I think. That's such a killer deal when I compare it by both its Sound performance and it's physical Features (both Virtually, and Physically)
    Seriously, the fact that "RODE CENTRAL" is all I get for my RODE NT USB+ is laughable when compared to Maono's. It's SO barebones compared to Maono, a Brand I've never even heard of before until today. I think they recently just updated their Link software right? It looks AMAZING. that's what a Microphone Software should STRIVE to look like IMO. It has so much function and great colors going on and it just looks so clean and fun to look at IMO.
    For me, I think I will be getting the FIFINE Low Profile Mount Arm since it's basically just the already really awesome EL GATO Low Profile Arm, and slap the Maono on top of it. These two deserve to join forces. That was the conclusion I came to even beofre I watchedt his video just now.
    Can't wait.
    Great video by the way. I loved those comparisons and thank you for reminding me about the Bit Rate!!! One of the reasons I chose the RODE NT USB+ over the RODE NT USB, was because it had 24 bit over 16 bit! I could hear the difference! Gotta love that 24 Bit Rate.

      Update: I got me the FIFINE LP Mic Arm, it's great, but it just wasn't up to standard so I had to return it and get me the ELGATO LP Arm cause for once in a lifetime, it was on sale for 80 instead of 100 lol. Amazing! And it matches my desk in a gorgeous white.
      Issues with the FIFINE? It's a bit too stiff for my liking at the joints, so it's a bit of a struggle to lift the mic up. I noticed it also struggled holding up my SAMSON G TRACK PRO USB microphone because I tightened it very very close to 100% of the way at the joint and I noticed at least a couple of times a day of using it, it would drop or at least it would TOO EASILY go down just from a smalllllllllllllll small push.

      @DaveSoltura Місяць тому +1

      The Rode NT USB Plus has a brighter tone that fits singing better. The PD200x is closer to a podcast/content creation mic. Just note that the NT USB Plus could possibly capture more room noise, because it's a condenser mic.

    Also, I love that you shot this (or part of it at least) in 1080P but Outputted it in 4K so we could benefit from the Lossless 1080P shot-footage! That's literally what I was just talking to my Brother about tonight because he said he wanted a 4K Camera for UA-cam. I was like NO MAN! The trick is to get a solid 1080P Camera and then output your footage (when rendering yk) in 4K. It looked great man

      @DaveSoltura 2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for the kind words! :) I definitely started by recording in 1080p and upscaling to 4k at the start, as this helped me save on storage tremendously. I now shoot in 4k as standard (except for that one shot, to illustrate a point), but it is a tremendous investment, storage-wise. It helps, but isn't absolutely necessary. :)

      @@DaveSoltura Yeah haha that's the only thing I'd be worried about, is the storage space.
      What would be a good number of GB to Aim for? I was thinking much later in the future when I get a 4K Camera, that maybe a 2 TB External Drive might be enough but what do you think? It would probably be holding around 30 Minutes of Footage per project while holding onto maybe 3 or 4 projects at a time.

      @@TheMillionDollarDropout 2tb is rock solid! I just use 1tb drives. Anything higher than that makes me anxious about losing more footage. I also use a 512gb SD card per camera, for about 16 hours of 4k footage each. That way, I’m not constantly worried about running out of space per project.
      It’s pretty cool you found me on the official amazon listing! We do have a great partnership. :)
