John Popper Joins Stainless-Steel Reed Family, NAMM 2015

John Popper joined the Stainless-Steel Reed Harmonica Family at NAMM 2015. In the video he cited the "sound" and the "durability" of steel reeds as the primary factors for switching away from Hohner, after 25 years. The family of professional harmonica players using stainless steel reeds continues to grow. This new technology was developed and perfected by Seydel, the oldest harmonica factory in the world, and the only one to provide stainless steel reeds. The new top-end Fender harmonicas, including the John Popper model, are made for Fender by Seydel Harmonicas.

Great player and singer but so much of his playing is non-musical riffing. When he makes actual phrases it's really beautiful.
