Yes, but I prefer -- a hundred times over -- glorious singing with Italian-inflected French, rather than perfect French with mediocre singing. Et quoiqu'elle ait un fort accent italien, son français n'est pas si mauvais que ça.... C'est parfaitement compréhensible.
In my youth, back in the Sixties, when I still lived in New York, I made the pilgrimage to Modena, just to see the place where Mirella had grown up. And it was worth going there, because the town is lovely, and the Duomo (cathedral) is an unforgettable gem of Romanesque architecture.
