      wow ! it's a small world on the internet - I surmise even today government departments and their staff have limited people skills or empathy and seek a bonus or promotion for getting a job done without delay at low cost - I often wonder do we vote in politicians for the needs of all or politicians only cater to the needs of the corporate world !

      @@urbanaerialexplorer1885 thnx for ur reply .........? the deal was sold to us as being for the greater good of the economy & local growth , both certainly happened ! new housing & shops went up instantly , the town was declared a CITY with great fanfare & a series of street parades , I was part of it all , riding on a timber jinker pulled by a very large team of bullocks ( man I feel old now in reflection ) the nong hospital grew to 35 beds , new crime & new prostitutes was followed by more cops , the mind of this simple young country boy expanded BIG TIME , lots more to lay on you if your interested ? I remember in the 80's falling asleep on the train after a night tutorial at uni and by passing Dandenong Station. I got off at the next being GMH. It must have been around 10PM on a pitch black night. It was like being in the twilight zone waiting for the train from Pakenham to come thinking to myself this place would be prefect for a murder! All I could hear were crickets. Thankfully in the dim distance a light appeared and I caught the train back to Dandenong.

    Used to work at Toyota in the body shop (1989-1992). Most of the days I went to work were by train using this station. I remember quite a few blokes never bought tickets as we were always on the 6.05am Warragul train.... a few inspectors were waiting one day but we were usually pretty smart by travelling in the carriage that was at the east end of the platform..... This particulare day the inspe tors were datchi g the first 10 or so people while 3 of us walked the other way, off the platform and back to Hallam Station.... was only a 10 minute walk..... we bought our $1 ticket and happily showed it when we got off after catching another train back to the plant! A few days later we did the same again and not long after this we always carried scratchy tickets that we would scrape off the date if the inspe tors were there!

      The council might want it protected - People might own the land but council dictates what you can cut down, dig up, build, do, grow, pets, use, store or remove from your property - This might highlight how your "castle" does have limitations !

    Awesome vid. Thank you. Great drone flying. Careful as "they," the non believers like to engage the PoPo or worse "CASA" when one is trespassing and you must not operate your drone in a way that creates a hazard to another aircraft, person or property. This means a train full of people. Stay safe and thanks again for taking us down memory lane. Cheers ;)

    • @urbanaerialexplorer1885
      @urbanaerialexplorer1885  Рік тому +1

      The drone is under 250 grams - no signs about no trespass or keep out other then using the pedestrian overpass; there is also a service lane along side the rail line with no signs saying not to enter there either at the road rail intersection further up. The line was also closed for maintenance - I'm Certified and Accredited with CASA ... doing some homework before you fly is important as is the understanding for drones and their weight category restrictions - ignorance is no excuse, as is some that make assumptions - What many people don't understand is that I use a CASA nominated software (as do many others) to fly the drone and know my weight of the drone in use, location and flight path it's all recorded.

      @@urbanaerialexplorer1885 I thank you again for your efforts and documentation of history. I am equally as careful when I have my drones in the air and always look at the CASA maps on my phone. I watched this with great interest. Thanks again.

There is a DJI Mavic Mini 3 (just came out and also under 250 grams) but are a little pricey for me now and will wait until some that get it as an unwanted gift or lose interest and resell !

    If you want an adventure, take the drone down to Omar Street Maidstone. You'll see the entrance to the Medway Golf Club opposite a big shed that the century before was M.G. PENTREATH sand and soil. All the tip trucks were in there . Behind it is a creek you can access down the small hill . You can see 3 tunnels running underground. The creek runs thru the golf course and empties into the Mairybrynong River. It was an adventure playground for all us kids growing up in the area. The golfers were the enemy we had to avoid be they the Japs or the Gerries.
    Also if you get around the corner to the end of Ashley Street there's a wire fence, (had a hole in it in the 70's) which leads to the river and a pipe bridge you can cross and take the short cut to Avendale Heights. Well you could in the olden days.
    You might find it interesting but maybe only if you knew the history. Between Omar St and Hamstead was was all paddock and a metal foundry named Extruded Metals PTY LTD. I can't imagine the extent of the toxic chemicals they dumped into the creek which flowed into the river but it's all housing now and I imagine the creek is now a pipe under the houses.
