Me personally, I think Carmen was kind of dramatic. Like when she would freak out when Moira and Jenny left a mess. But, to be honest, she was dating Shane, who herself couldn't really commit. I think Carmen just grew tired of having to ask Shane to treat her like her 'girlfriend,' and to care about her. Idk. I don't think Shane belonged with anybody. Everyone says she was meant for Molly, and she didn't cheat on her. Well, she was only with Molly for a little amount of time, who's to say she wouldn't have cheated? I was disappointed with Carmen and Shane because they built them up all of Season 2, to break them down so forcefully in Season 3. I know Sarah's contract was up, but couldn't they find a better, more fitting way to break them up?
I agree with Carmen being dramatic; I mean, she always knew how Shane was and decided to stay anyway and kind of insisted on being around Shane. Remember that at some point Carmen even was with Jenny? I mean, c'mon!... We know she wasn't actually in love with Jenny. I also felt like Carmen wanted to change Shane with all the meeting the family and then the engagement, the wedding, etc. Don't get me wrong, I have no doubts Carmen's intentions were honest but it felt weird somehow, like she was pushing the whole situation. I believe, till this day, that Shane was meant for Molly! They were (still are and will always be) my favourite couple and it really annoys me that they were together for a little amount of time. I've always felt Molly was the only one who really love Shane despite knowing about her womanizing side, despite all Shane's flaws, despite everything and anyone else!... I don't know ... but you're right! who can say Shane wouldn't cheat on her.
Romina Stone Um...didn't fake ass Molly talk shit to her mum about Shane? Such a generic and vanilla couple. After Carmen, I'm glad they didn't give Shane a permanent relationship - she didn't belong with anyone else
She definitely was, and I think the creators of the show turned Carmen into an unpredictable psycho to make sure fans weren't going to be upset at her not coming back the next season.

this is a clear cut example of why they were a terrible couple. It's pretty sad you need to cheat out of revenge for someone cheating on you. If they were a good couple there wouldn't have been any cheating at all.
Hence it was doomed from the start, don't get me wrong they were a good looking couple but there characters just didn't go well together. Carmen was too commited to the relationship & Shane wasn't at all. Throw in insecurity, possessiveness, and jealousy and the whole thing is doomed. It's unfortunate but true.
