Mark Rober hi
Awesome vid!!! Luv u mark!
no problem :D
Third
he didn't comment first on his vid this time
Coronavirus: Shuts down school
Mark Rober: *Look at me, I’m the teacher now*
Correct 😋
’jhg’fh’y’k’ll,
And he's better at it than my teacher, too
yep beeter then mine
haha totally
Imagine Mark Rober actually being your science teacher
That would be your best science year ever.

+1 for me, at least he's better than mine...
I wish he was my teacher. That would be so cool.
I agree
He is beeing our teacher in a way. 😁
fart rober
I agree as well
RIGHT?!?!? I so want his to be my teacher.. SO JELLY
Mark: Science isn't about memorizing facts, it's about understanding principles.
Schools: we don't do that here
LDVNK so true
We have da same profile pic
What is this *SCHOOL* you speak of
Most tests that you would take ask you to answer by using information that you learn. In order to answer them, you have to understand the principles.
@@sherlyn.a I passed my physics and math finals in college because they were the exact same problems we solved back in high school. I memorized the solutions from all those years ago.
Tl;dr "well yes, but actually no"
Mark: My dream job is to be a high school physics teacher
NASA: AM I A JOKE TO YOU!!
Why is your dream job a high school physics teacher?

mom:get out
😂
Lol
Doesn't make sense if you didn't watch
mark rober: Life jacket gives you more volume.
Me: makes a life jacket out of watrmelon.
also me: sinks and drowns.
You might not have oxygen, but at least you have plenty of food and water. (I’m not sure how you would make a watermelon life jacket though)
Lol
Make these as long as you want, we aren’t exactly pressed for time here (:
@Yolow-pal14 YT you do know this was streamed live... right?
Time with Mark Rober is time saved
Exactly
SoccerTurtleCuber lol
Yea and in Michigan no more school for the year
I don’t need school, I need Mark Rober.
Amen
im waiting for someone to get wooshed
Everyone can agree
Same here😂
agreed
Professor: I'm better!!
Teacher: NO I AM!
*"Amateurs"*
"What was that, punk?"
Mark Rober: *Amateurs*
lol im funny

Bonus college answer: Yes, you're gonna weigh more - but your mass will be lower.
Hmm what do you mean?
@@kimreevemorales6770 Because your body is more dense. Farts are less dense than air so when a fart escapes, then you think of it like air is taking place of the fart. Since you are more dense, you weigh more.
Yes, because those farts have mass. By releasing them, you technically lose mass. And, because they're less dense than air, when you release them, as explained in the video, you become more heavy.
Overall, you become more dense because you're losing something that's less dense. It has volume, so, when you release it, your volume goes down. Since the loss of mass is less than the loss of volume (because it's less dense than air and gases tend to have a high volume but low mass, hence low density), your volume decreases far more (relatively) than the change of mass, your relative density actually goes up.
As he explained in the video, the more dense an object is, the less upward force from boyancy the object experiences. As a result, the downward force of gravity has a greater vector, AKA its force is greater, so the weight actually goes up.
Weight =/= mass, but they are related. Weight is a function of mass and the gravitational force. If gravity is weaker, like it is on the Moon, you weigh less, even though your mass doesn't change. If gravity is stronger, like it is on Jupiter, you weigh more. Regardless of where you are, though, farting increases your weight but decreases your mass.
Joe Schmole Good post but just a couple clarifications: you become more dense no matter what you fart out. Even if you farted Sulfur Hexaflouride, which is more dense than air, your density would still go up because you’ve replaced the gas in your body with the solids (intestines) around it. Your volume actually goes down slightly too.
@@jimmy79889 It doesnt make sense. Density doesnt directly relate to how much you weigh

I low key want him to have his own show
Honestly who wouldn’t watch a Mark Rober & Bill Nye team up man it would be E P I C! Mark Rober the Science Guy.

you're lucky!
honestly i feel like you're going to be the only teacher that everyone's going to remember after graduating
I hear ya!!
Yea

Something about watching Mark Rober teach live and uncut bc he wants to be a physics teacher is so wholesome and heart warming.
I am 38 and you make me like science! My mom made sure we loved history by making us to listen and watch history as fascinating stories that gripped our attention. You’re like THAT for science! You make it come alive and matter in a way that words on a page in a boring textbook cannot do! Thank you!
"I've always wanted to be a high school physics teacher"
Well then, great taking the little steps and working for Nasa ..
One step at a time
Then being a UA-camr, which is probably millions of people's dream job.

Mr. Heuten

He's the kind of teacher I wish I had.
Someone who's a teacher because he's got a passion for it not because it's an easy career choice
He has a passion for science and thus he can tell these things on ELI5 ways. And yes, he would like to be a teacher for somebody like you (are or were). I would like to see Markie Boy also to be a teacher where ever he lives. :)
Yeah this is so true, Someone who likes teaching not for the money but because he likes his job
Xyr2x4 LMAO, no one teaches for the money, the pay is pathetic.
I’ve only had one teacher like this and it actually makes school fun and interesting. By far that teacher is my favorite to this day haha
It's not an easy career. The most work teachers do is 'behind the scenes'. Thank you for discrediting the hard work.
Dear Mark,
Just a mom here that wants to thank you for making science so fun, exciting, and understandable for kids. My kids are always waiting for your new videos to come out and they are some of your best advertisers. We will definitely stay tuned :)
Mark, we have been watching your videos for years now, and we are so excited to have you as our science teacher now. Week 3 of lock down in Germany. Thank you. We love you

"I really need to make these shorter!"
*everyone disliked that* xD make them as long as you need to Mark!
"xD" is kinda cringe
That cool guy Cole if you think so xD
@@Jeremy-ly5iq lmao tryna make me look like the bad guy I see.
Whatever, have a good 24 hours.
"MOM, Little Jimmy keeps increasing his density and reducing his buoyancy, MAKE HIM STOP!!!!"
Don't make them shorter, the more examples you give the more I understand and the more "whoah, no way" moments I have!!!! I've watched the last live stream you make, the tenth or something, not sure. It's amazing how much better you got through this process at explaining and teaching. I really wish you were my physics teacher, especially in your last video about the 5 mile fall. You're amazing and I want to shadow a teacher like you in the classroom, you're amazing. You make me want to be back in high school again (I'm 20) because I love and miss those "Ahah" moments I used to have everyday. I've gotten that back with your videos!!! Thank you so much. This is amazing. Keep inspiring! You're doing great, keep be yourself!
I'm a first year applied physics student, this is actually a better explanation than my teachers have on some of these subjects. Keep it up man!
"it is a leaky metal tube"
Is the most anxiety provoking description of an airplane I have ever heard.

Exactly lol
Worse, it’s aluminum and built like a soda can, and equipped with a personal flotation device for water landings but no parachute for non-water landings.

I'm a Survey Engineer, Studied for 7 Years, have a Master's Degree , had my fair share of Physics classes and I was convinced in the begining the answers would be yes. Thank you Mr. Mark Rober to taking me to class again , I loved the line of thought you put into this!
Every teacher should be as motivated to teach as you are. You'll change a lot of lives teaching high school, and you'll be remembered by a lot of people. To hear someone who worked at JPL saying their dream job is to be a high school teacher is super inspirational

Wow ! Another type of Heroes we need right now ! I even loved the countdown soundtrack ! I wish I could hear it all day while working at home !
absolutely loving your teaching skillz , your opening my mind , like kuato from total recall ; )
As a high school science teacher who has watched your videos for a long time, I love what you're doing here and your ultimate goal of becoming a teacher. With that said, I do have a quibble with today's livestream. Weight is the force due to gravity pulling down on an object, which is mass times acceleration. A scale that we step on doesn't actually measure this; it measures the net downward force on you, which, as you mentioned, would take into account buoyancy. Thus, you answered the question "If you fart how does the weight measured on a scale change?" not "Does farting make you weigh less?" The answer to the latter is yes, farting does make you weigh ever so slightly less. Farting removes a small amount of mass from your body and if you take a smaller mass times the same acceleration you get a smaller force due to gravity, or weight. Giving the answer you gave will likely lead to misunderstandings about what weight is. While I understand how you arrived at your answer and what you were saying you have to be careful with word choice in education so that you don't cause new misunderstandings in students.
Zachary Dunn haha leave it to a teacher to ruin it.

to make it float by adding more metal, use the metal to enlarge the surface area that the metal will take up in the water. The larger this is, more of the water will be able push up while the metal pushes down at a constant rate
For some reason I read “does farting make you lose legs”
Eject, boost to stratosphere
Me talking to my grand kids: You see I farted so hard, I lost me legs!
Why yes, in fact it does.
That makes no sense but I make no sense either..
31:06 Why is the sky blue: because of Rayleigh scattering in the upper atmosphere.
The colour blue scatters the most in the visible spectrum (violet has the highest frequency/lowest wavelength in U.V light but blue has the highest frequency in visible light) hence we see the colour blue.
I learned that from the anime Aldnoah zero
om prakash Panday Actually, it is because there is more blue light than violet light. And violet light only gets a little bit more scattered than blue light. So overall, blue light is seen.
When he talks about the "tug of war"between forces, I feel its important to point out that on the way up the buoyancy force is winning but when floating at the top buoyancy and gravity are tied.
As a high school math teacher, I aspire to be you one day. Keep up the awesome stuff!!

As a physics teacher, I love these videos and would love to use them in my classes, but the auto-captions that they currently have do not meet ADA standards for my Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. UA-cam makes it pretty easy to go through and edit the captions for grammar and accuracy (ie adding punctuation and correcting any words that did not transcribe properly). I know some of your videos have full and proper captions, would love to see that for this video as well!
