I have had these for 3 years now and do approx. 5,000 miles a year on pot holed roads. I weigh 220lbs and I have never had any problem with them whatsoever. They are absolutely brilliant and were a significant and noticeable upgrade on the wheels that came with the bike.

I am 220 lb and I have never had any problems with my Mavic wheel set. I bought my wheel set in 2013

I've been riding some 2015 Ksyrium SLs, recently hit a pothole so hard it knocked me out of my pedals and twisted my seatpost (didn't crash, but holy moly). It pushed my rim brake off center, so I had to open it up a little bit (recentered it after the ride), but the wheel suffered no damage whatsoever. It's as true as an arrow, with no hop. Amazing.

That's gotta be one of the craziest stories I've ever heard, I'm glad you're ok though.

I've had these for over three years now and they have been amazing. They rarely ever need truing and are very low maintenance wheels. I've ridden these wheels non-stop since the day I've bought them and they are still as fast as day one. You are right about the oversized spokes catching the wind. On a windy day its like riding with tired legs and you do get pushed around in a cross wind. They really shine on the climbs and accelerate extremely well in or out of the saddle. Racing wise I'd prefer something a tad more aero but these are definately bombproof!

I use these for cyclocross in my local forest. They are tough and very stiff but do ding quite easily. They are good though, just straighten them out again! (165lbs here)

I would like to thank you to have shown the tecnique to remove the left side "nut" using your hand/ I could not find the details of first gen 2000 made Ksyrium SSC which shares the same system. Those original 2000-2001 manuals are just not available online anymore! Thanks a bunch

Had mine 1 week and font spoke snapped on the flat and smooth road,I previously had the scs sl wheels that are still good after 24,000 miles and never trued.Think the problem lies with the skinny spokes, just to save a few gramms. I,d rather a thicker spokeAnd feel confident in the wheel lasting when i,m 30 miles from home.

These wheels are fine for people who weigh 250 pounds. It just depends on the type of roads you ride on. If you ride into potholes at 25 mph... well,,,, you will have problems..with any wheel..!!!

Why in the hell would you buy these if youre 250lbs?! Saving 200g wont make a difference at 250 lbs lol

I have cracked the rim at the insertion spoke site 4 times and broken spokes twice. I do a lot of Hill efforts and full gas sprints. I use a lot of upper body leverage. I feel the shaving of material to make the wheels lighter has weakened the wheels.

It's rated at 220.5 LBS - 100kgs according to the data sheet. I bought a rear wheel broken spoke and missing it's freebody hub for $10, hoping i could use it for spares for some other aero spoked wheel, but these have nipples attached Lol

The Ksyrium SLS came with my new Cannondale purchase. Put about 1000km on them and just broke one of the carbon spokes in my rear wheel. I'm 6'6" and 230lbs. Based on reviews, I'll be looking for a stronger wheel set.

I've just got a pair second hand and found that the cassette (Shimano 10spd) doesn't fit snug onto the freehub so after locking it tight there is still a little play visible by pulling the cogs with hands. Any idea on how to fix it?
    Apart form that great wheels!

    • @adrinsham1309

The nylon bushing on the freehub body is worn out. This causes the cassette to have some play. You can rebuild your freehub using Hub Doctor's Mavic freehub rebuilt kit. You can find them on Ebay. Costs less than $40 shipped. You get a new nylon bushing and pawls, among other things. I've rebuilt my Mavic freehubs numerous times and these kits are great at keeping ownership costs down.

hello i have just bought these wheels but they were really hard work to get going and seem to slow down very quickly. i think the hub might be to tight. the front wheel spinning for 1 minute and the back wheel for about 15 seconds when the bike is upside down. there is nothing rubbing at all. really upset as they are an upgrade from the standard poor wheels the bike came with but in fact the old ones seemed better and faster...any ideas anyone????

I have had mavic ksyrium for years but had to stop riding them.. I hate the freehub plastic bushing crap that wears out and causes a lot of cassette play which wears your gears faster. Mavic could put a nice sealed bearing in place of the cheap bushing but it saves weight so they claim and keeps you buying freehubs...

    • @adrinsham1309
      @adrinsham1309 7 років тому +1

Don't buy new freehubs when your nylon bushing gets worn out. Just buy Hub Doctor's Mavic hub rebuild kit. It costs less than $40 shipped. You can reuse your old freehub after rebuilding it and it will work like new.

I have the Mavic Ksyrium Elite S wheels and the back wheel cracked twice now. Worked great for a year then it cracked. They gave me a new one and now it cracked too. Cracked where the spoke threads into the rim. I guess I got ripped off 800$. Does anyone make a strong lightweight wheel set that can handle a heavy 220lbs rider? I hate the heavy stock wheels that came with my bike. Heavy and constantly going out of true.
