I couldn't help but feel my heart warm up when Phelan cradled Ziggy in his arms like a little baby. Seeing him display such fatherly affection towards his little fur baby despite her mischief was incredibly wholesome.
I admire his ability to force his attention from the cute cat to the boring, boring puzzle story
Sheis so precious!
Ziggy Time!!

Phelan gives off "husband holding his wifes purse at the mall" energy when he's listening to you read the story 🤣
"We're in a hell of our own making."
The delivery of that killed me.
More people died in the comments of this video than in the story.
Allison is the opposite of Redlettermedia: If there's nothing to salvage or to work with, she will upload it anyway.
Nothing but garbage for me!!!
@@AllisonPregler i mean, you DID watch that first Superman movie. That's not that bad.
It's so adorable how Ziggy's all curious about what you're up to and wants to join in the fun.
This video proves what I've suspected about Allison and Phelan all along: That they're adorable and intensely goofy regardless of what they're doing.
When i saw the title i was like what the hell is a mystery puzzle. Glad to see that you two seem just as confused as I am. I love your content together. Your love of campy weird schlock is so wholesome when it's in the context of being a married couple with a cat.
that's not a bad cat, that's a puzzle halper!
I got a mystery puzzle at a garage sale once like 20 years ago. It matched the picture on the box, but when you put it all together, there were glow-in-the-dark bits that revealed the secret hidden in the puzzle. Always liked that gimmick, but now I appreciate it even more for at least letting me know how to put it together first.
The best part of this is Phelan hugging cat :)
I realise you used it for aesthetic, but that table cloth made your puzzle much more taxing than it needed to be 😂
Very thorough job with this one, but I have one correction. Several people have pointed this out already, but that is not a bad cat. That’s actually a very good cat.
Phelan holding Ziggy was adorable. She's growing up so fast!
I used to be really into puzzles, and I tried a few that didn't have the picture on the box, and it just sucks all the fun out of it, both because it makes it much harder to assemble, and also because the picture is inevitably disappointing.
The recaps of the kid's baseball games were truly riveting, but there is something that could have made the story much better: MORE PEAS!!! :D
Yeah. You think "oh fun, a mystery!" and then later you realize that "mystery puzzle" to a sales-type business jerk means put 99 percent of the budget into the COVER ART and promotional copy on the back, and then the actual contents can just be painted glass shards and cigarette buts they swept up in the parking lot and a story somebody's uncle wrote on a napkin because if they SHOWED you the contents of the box before you bought it that would spoil the "mystery." Like the Goosebumps-style skeleton umpire is brilliant, and then the puzzle is brown dirt with scraps of paper.
I had a few Bepuzzled jigsaws back in the day and yeah, not giving you a reference picture was kind of their thing. The ones i had worked just like these except they were murder mystery themed. So basically the stories were a Murder She Wrote knock off instead of a Goosebumps knock off. I thought not having picture made for an interesting challenge, not sure what that says about me.
I've done the murder mystery ones, too. I really enjoy them, but also think if you're expecting a normal puzzle it's probably annoying.
It actually IS a Murder She Wrote rip-off. There was a series of MSW mystery puzzle games just like this, except they had the decency to release them as PC games with a changeable difficulty setting so you didn't go nuts trying to put together a real physical puzzle. You'd listen to a (terrible, unintelligible, exhaustingly-long) story and then try to solve the mystery by putting together a crime scene puzzle and then study the picture to "work out" the solution (to the boring story you couldn't follow that ate up 80 percent of the playtime with its suckage). These games were terrible for the same reason Spider Tales was terrible. They failed to realize that the MYSTERY was the selling point, not the puzzle, so they didn't bother to hire good writers who could make it fun.
Literally watching this video with a very demanding kitty cat on my desk right now trying to monopolise my attention. So really getting the full experience.
It's spooktober in september: the second most frightening month of all
Ah, the unofficial hard mode of all puzzles, Kitten On Table Mode.
Hello Ziggy you are adorable!
it's so nostalgic to see you two together, been watching here and there for over a decade now
I just realized we’re gonna see these two doing videos together WAAAAY more now that they’re married! It’s a content mirical
Aye it is tons of fun 😊
Total win for us! Also, Allison always looks great with dark hair. I still have no clue of what her actual hair color is but it hardly matters.
@@markiangooley it's actually ever changing, like one of those light up keyboards
Wait when did they get married? I remember Allison announcing that they got engaged but i didn't hear that they're already married
I would actually love an R.L.Stine book cover art puzzle. That would make for a fun halloween activity
Ohh... a Goosebumps puzzle... nice.
I love you two together. Even the crappy joke book made me laugh.
I couldn't help noticing this Spider Tale didn't have any spiders in it. I also noticed a lack of spooky skeleton umpires. And it was more of an anecdote than a tale.
Doing any sort of jigsaw puzzle with a cat around is just asking for a world of hurt.
I actually had a similar puzzle, because my mom didn't feel like buying a Nintendo game for my birthday. Read the story, assemble the puzzle, and then use the completed puzzle to solve the mystery and check if you were right at the end. Or in my case, assemble the puzzle, skip the story, and skip to the answer. It's like spending hours cooking a dish that no one wants to eat.
Allison and Phelan starting the spooky season early 👻
Spooky season starts in September!
It's Septober!
In doofy voice: Anyway, to make a long story short, no one killed anyone.
Giving how challenging this puzzle was, it was extra bold of you to use that tablecloth! 😁
Watching this gives me warm memories of Allison's Modelland read-through. I still give that one a watch regularly when I need some joy in these trying times. Thanks, Allison! *punch*
3:40 Ziggy tries to leap into Phelan 😆
Don't Allison and Phelous realize what horror sights they'll see if they put together a spooky puzzle board game?
Seems like a decent idea but with really bad execution - can't imagine why it wound up in a thrift store! I liked the What We Do in the Shadows clips. Also your kitty is adorable.
Ziggy isn't bad! Ziggy just wanted to help solve the mystery!
Me: Ziggy isn't bad, just drawn that way.
You: that doesn't make sense. Ziggy's a real cat, not a cartoon character.
Me: I know. I just wanted to belong ☹️
Love little Ziggy! So curious, such a cutie.
I imagine this "game" was so pristine because past owners got too bored to complete the puzzle and put it back in the box!
The real terror was the puzzles we completed along the way
5:59-Almost thought it was post production, but Ziggy did a little squeak, so cute!
Phelan has to use all his power to stay awake! It's a tough one!
I love that tablecloth!! Phelan is such a good cat daddy🐈⬛
So…It's not really a ghost story as it is a story about sexism and jealousy in little league baseball. Why the spooky title and artwork then? Did they tack it on last minute? Did the original draft get immensely toned down? Was this rushed?
Professor X: We will never know.
I’ve never tried baseball 😅 aw Ziggy is so cute, must love the camera attention as well as the cuddles 😊
That TMNT Mutant Mayhem video was only a month ago and I already forgot Ziggy the crazy tortie kitten and her antics
GOODMORNING Allison and Phelan! between you and the two shots of crown ive had, this is a great start of the day!
Man even Sisko would find this ball game boring!
5:59 Ziggy cries “Bored!”
My mom got me some of these, and I absolutely hated the books. The puzzles were okay, though.
I had a golf one, an art-themed one, and one with a really awesome old car on the box.
I remember I actually bought one of these as a kid. Except, it was Clue-themed. I vaguely remember the mystery not being very compelling, even though I actually enjoyed reading the Clue novels in the school library (they were these chapter books with a different mystery every chapter. Really easy to figure out)
I'm enjoying this Game Night simulator. Has Phelous and Allison played a spooky board game called Shrieks & Creaks?
It looks awesome!
@@AllisonPreglerIs Phelan single?
@@creatormanualdarytendotmve4748|| Nope, he's her husband.
19:01 "Iiiiiiiiiiiiit's pointless padding scene time" ding
Deep cut!
I've done a similar puzzle/ murder mystery that had no reference image but there were a bunch of words on the puzzle to help you and the image was clear so it was fun. This looks puzzle looks like an annoying nightmare
Halloween with Allison and Phelan must be so much fun!
Also, I feel like the concept of this is pretty cool, but the execution is lacking. The writing is terrible 😭
Thank y’all for bringing Halloween month a lil early this year, keep playing with toys y’all, & at first I thought Lupa’s shirt was a Star Trek shirt lmao, like a Gorn but I guess not lol, oh & omg THAT KITTEN, ok so on June 3rd, a kitten was born & I kept her & named her Mew Mew. I named her after the Black Panther from Son Of lion King review Phelous did, & SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE THAT CAT YALL HAVE! & it’s so awesome, is that cat an offspring of Ash? If so that’s so beautiful, I still cry whenever I see Ash in a review, but y’all gotta keep this stuff going,… especially for Ash
look out here comes *ZIGGY!*
I actually had one of those as a kid, but the one I had was set in the Clue universe (spoiler alert: it was Mr. Green).
when i was a small child, I'd do puzzles upside down, so there was no image. There's an insanely hard one with the image on both sides of the puzzle. I still remember it. The devil is trying to do a puzzle and unicorns and other animals are mocking him.
My god, there was so much crap in the mid to late 90s that was trying to emulate Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? and hardly any of it ever succeeded.
Seriously, how much cooler would this puzzle be if it was actually a funny horror story about a skeleton baseball team who are going to kill you if you "strike out," as in, don't solve the puzzle? All the other games in this series have the same kind of horror-themed artwork and titles, but the first one you fall for spoils all the others. The one with flying witches on the cover isn't going to have witches in it, etc.
It's like they said "find all the brown things we have" and took a picture of it.
Did your own VO for the two hours later meme. Mad respect!
Those earrings brought me back to life.
Yay Halloween content!!! We love Ziggy!
Cool! I love puzzles🧩🧩D'awe Ziggy is so darn sweet😻🐈⬛
Aww cute kitty!
I am left bepuzzled.
The real murder was there enthusiasm
Ziggy is just too cute
Reviewing a Goosebumps-adjacent thing while wearing an ermahgerd-adjacent t-shirt. I feel like one of them conspiracy theorists, reaching for these connections.
Princess Bride quote for the win!
"Triss found Stacey sitting on the grassy hill behind the field"
-"What are you doing here, Stacey?"
-"Just waiting for the president's car to arrive..."
Have you both completely lost your senses?! playing with occult forces can only lead to trouble. Don't blame us if your missing socks suddenly turn up.
Nice vid!
*Hello Allison & Phelan! I want to play a game!* - Jigsaw
Huh, didn't realize you two were married. Good job.
Phelan needs a What in the world t-shirt 👕 with Tom Arnold
How you could see what you were doing against that table cloth I'll never know.
You two are just so adorable
Oh man, a dramatic disassembly would've been nice (I get why you wouldn't want stray pieces flying about for the cat to find later though.) In my house you either glue/frame it or tear it right back down once everyone's seen it. Tearing a pain in the ass puzzle down with extra violence at least gives you a little satisfaction for all that wasted time.
Also, a bit of a letdown conceptually since I assumed the book and puzzle would add up to something together. Like if the book left certain things open ended but the puzzle gave you visual hints to come to the right conclusion? Shame.
My older sister had this! We lost some pieces before we could finish it.
Ziggy was right- should have cuddled the baby instead
That book is an inaccurate portrayal of a baseball game: it needs to be 30 pages minimum
I think you solved the crime of the century!
Holy hell that story was boring. But YOU TWO are hilarious 😂😂😂
I had something similar back in the 70's. It was based on British tv cop show the Sweeney. There was a story book to go with it. And the story ended with the police chasing the criminals they'd been after, and unmasking the mysterious leader of a gang. Or something. It was actually quite interesting but I think my immediate reaction to finishing the puzzle and seeing the picture in full was 'which character is that again?'
"A Hell of our own making?" Watching Charmed, summed up by Phelan!
Why does Green Knuckles have Lego 4x2 pieces glued to his shoes? :P Also, did Mello die of a drug overdose? I knew the Sonic Archie comics were often dark, but not that THIS dark...Btw you should called the episode "The Terrible Puzzle Mystery Book (We Found at a Thrift Store).
What an entertaining video! Maybe I should punch the Like button...
Phelan saying the Puzzle drove them insane? Obviously a lie. They were never Sane to begin with, the puzzle would just push them over the edge to the point where they might actually do something naughty, if Alison and Phelan actually could be bothered to do that, of course.
Spider Tales? Man, Peter Parker really chose some very poor marketing decisions.
It always throws me off a bit when your channels do videos in the *wrong* sets.
Yay spooky puzzles ❤
Maybe the Spooky story was inside us all along. Nah... they said there would be sandwiches.
Cat's the best part.
💯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 🙀
too much spoopy! 😱
Reader bewaaaare… you’re in for a … ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz
Something about this video reminds me of something... Something recent...
Hey! Stuff! Oh my goodness me! 1994, oh gosh. 😳
But the real question is, does Stay's mom got it going on?
Cat Attack!!!
Tortie prowler!
Ziggy! 😺😺
And then they took it all back to the thrift store and punched the door on the way out. _~pssch~_
With how misleading the packaging was and how weaksauce the story turned out to be, I'm GENUINELY surprised there wasn't a Bible verse on the last page.
