late one night driving home to New york. I'm on the Pa. turnpike listening to NPR Marion McPartland friday night show. I hear this incredible voice and piano. I fumble for a pen to write down the artists name. I have to know. I have to explore her. the rest is history. was lucky to see her live in Atlantic City in the late 90's.
Garrick, I feel your pain. I recorded this on VHS back when the episode debuted and I still feel it Is her single best performance. Alas, the song is not featured on any of her albums. I guess the best we can hope for is that one day, when a "Best of..." album comes out, this track will be included....btw, thank you for posting this performance. Interesting side note...at the time, a popular analogy was that she sang like Frank Sinatra. It was Sinatra who originally recorded this song in 1946.
Thanks for posting this beautiful rarity Garrick! Diana was the first jazz artiste I fell in love with. But last time I checked, none of her studio albums at least have this standard. Ps I have all her albums
Not only can she sing but she plays the piano incredibly well. Some jackasses were WAY to busy talking about her feet than her music. I forgive you. And by the way, those feet are incredible!

This was my introduction to Diana Krall. It was probably 1997 on BET on Jazz if my memory serves me correct. Thanks for posting!
