- In this video we review the Fifine K688 podcast microphone, which is an affordable dynamic microphone with XLR and USB-C outputs. We compare it to the much more expensive Shure SM7B, along with the older Fifine K658.

Disclaimer: The microphone was provided to me by Fifine for review, free of charge. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and was not paid for my review. I just really like microphones.
It’s a great mic! I have replaced my Rode Podmic with this for my channel, and am so pleased with it I no longer desire to get a SM7B! Rich audio from highs down to the lows! Great video.
Another quality review video!👍 I truly appreciate your informative and helpful microphone comparison part!
the FF K688 sounds really really good! Thank you for this .
I purchased one, and I can't begin to tell you how happy I am I did. I highly recommend this microphone to anybody because, for $80, it's amazing.
Thank you for your video. I know which works best for me now. I go for a FF K688
These are the mics I bought!!
hey steve, just discovered vdo ninja!!
love it man!!!!
while connecting airpods, there is no audio input. any work arounds?
SM7B has more lower end but overall I will go for K688. I think I like even more MV7 (and great software with it), but price is making magic. Also Superlux D421 is literally almost the same as SM7B, but I dont have interface, so...
Thanks for the great review! What is the length of the K688 pop filter please?
I'd say ~85mm, end to end
just bought this mic with a scarlett solo i noticed that i need to have at least 75% gain on the scarlett for the mic to work well. is that normal? im speaking 3-4inches away from the mic
That sounds normal. The Scarlett is a budget preamp with modest output power, so I personally might run it closer to 80 to 90% I guess, but we all speak at different volumes
@@steve_seguin what about midiplus studio 2? is it budget preamp as well?
@@aphrodence02 looks like a budget preamp. Never heard of it before. You'll probably need to run it at 100% with the K688, and even then, it might be a bit quiet. I can't recommend it personally, but it might work.
@@steve_seguin ua-cam.com/video/i_2z_qdH_FY/v-deo.html i got mine after watching that vid.. so far it works with protools first.
though im not sure which country did midiplus come from... but seems like its famous on their country
@@aphrodence02 where do you have the gain set?
