  • This Honda Passport `02 had the 4L30-E transmission fluid leaking from the bonded circular accumulator cover for the 3-4 clutches. Located on the right front of the transmission, this is the second replacement cover to be installed. It shrinks over about an 8 year period, and leaks. It involved removing a fluid line, clamp, a big C-clip, and the bonded cover itself. After repairs the fluid level check procedure had to be performed at a specific fluid temp range and dex III or equiv fluid added to the pan. I got the part off amazon, as the oem`s don`t sell it anymore.

    Great video! But what is the size for accumulator piston o ring?

      This video is about the cover not the accumulator. The cover is bonded in rubber.

      Myumi Molovaco. I put a long bolt in center out close to frame, and used a piece of wood, or metal to pry between long bolt and frame till it went back into its bore against spring. (Prob 45 lbs of force). It has to go back straight, and it will stay down while the clip is being put back into its slot.

      Thank you for replied .While I tried to pry it in and I damaged the part now i have to wait few day for new part coming .My question is with the long bolt put from out side how to measure about 45 bls of force...is it special tool or more technic ? and sorry for my low level of this.From beginning of work. I did not use 17 mm and 21mm and 12mm to release the transmission line as your video because I think it has enough space to work .Is it problem ?)

      Myumi Molovaco I use this video to remind me of the exact amount of items and time, minimum, to do this job. I wouldn't try it without removing the lines. There was no exact measurement of bolt length to frame. The length was estimated by the thickness of what I was prying with, like a ("1×2" wood) 20" long, and a "3/8 drive extension, with say a 13 mm 12 point socket on the end of extension , and then i would insert socket end, into center of the rubber plug coated plug. I found a hinge point on body or frame with tip of wood, and use a long enough "3/8" extension to reach wood prying piece at an exact angle that will push bonded rubber plug exactly in center, down length of bore hole. (Without lines in the way) The bonded plug would have to be lubricated with fluid, and watched carefully, that it starts in bore evenly and square to trans housing, as it is re-inserted. Otherwise damage to trans or plug may occur. If I damaged a plug, I would practice inserting it once or twice. So that didn't happen again. As the plug enters bore, it has moderate drag, and then gets a little easier.

      The owner said, the only problem they had with the trans, is this cover seal goes bad. Every 40k miles or so. Thanks for watching

    hey, thanks for posting this video! I need to change mine because it is also leaking. But I have a question. did your vehicle give you a check trans light? my vehicle is giving me a check trans light and is shifting hard from 2nd in to 3rd but only after the light comes on. I was wondering if you had similar symptoms with your vehicle before you replaced this part??

      Auto Dr diy, thank you. I have a honda passport 01, im wondering if they are the same size or not

    • @AutoDrdiy
      @AutoDrdiy  4 роки тому +1

      @@ericksonramos2186 I dont think the size is relevant, but the inside shape is different I believe, to accommodate the different function of the spring and piston, of the 2 diff bands. But it is always the 3-4 that goes bad.
