I think there is a difference between 'good' and 'selfless' that you seem to be missing.
People can be good and still act selfish from time to time. It doesn't make us evil it just means we aren't perfect (and that we sometimes we need to work on improving ourselves).

It's not his fault, the second the heroes defeat an enemy, a more powerful one shows up. Heroes are actually pretty lucky when you think about it since they always seem to run into villains in the right order. If Naruto had run into Pain or Goku had run into Buu or Brolly in episode 1, they would have been really short shows.
Edit: Originally used the androids as an example for Goku but someone pointed out that Buu or Brolly are better examples.
How is that luck ? If Pain or the androids (16,17,18) didn't exist back then ? Everything comes for a reason lol
@@lapure2220 I'm saying that heroes in stories run into villains in the perfect order. If Goku ran into Cell or the Androids without fighting Vegeta or Freiza first, he'd be dead. If Naruto ran into Pain without all the experiences he picked up beforehand, he'd be dead. Heroes are lucky that they run into villains in the order that promotes their growth, because otherwise they'd get bodied.

As a boss: Op stats across the board. Excels at everything. So fast he takes three turns before you get one.
As an ally: Outside of ultimate skill does less damage than your other already trained up magic users. Dies if someone sneezes in his general direction. Oh and his speed is crap now too because screw you. Most late game battles start with him almost immediately getting one shotted.

I know this video is about anime villains, BUT the same thing would happen in Power Rangers ALL OF THE TIME! Remember whenever there would be the 6th ranger/extra ranger/evil ranger that eventually joined the team?
They'd defeat opponents the entire team couldn't defeat as a group, have super speed, be stronger than the core ranger team and have an awesome zord. However, after joining the team it made them get depowered so much that it was ridiculous...
everyone else leveled up and the monsters of the old team has to be extra powerful because the leader knows his most powerful ally turned.

I thought I was the only one who noticed this trend. Fat buu vows to kill no more then instantly gets man handled by evil buu. Gaaara seemed unstoppable at first then turns good and get the hands by kimimaru, if not for kimimaru dying by illness first, he would be dead. As soon as reiner and Annie turns to help stop the rumbling all of a sudden flonch and the randos are good enough to beat titan shifters without the main cast, I mean it never fails.
reiner was fighting much better when he joined the good cast. Kimimaru is literally op, he and orochimaru killed gaaras dad.
Lol this really just reminds me of when Trent turned good in Dino Thunder. He went from being the most ridiculously op enemy, able to take all 4 Dino Rangers without even trying and then turned good and became exactly as powerful as any one of them. It's kinda hilarious how they'll always be talking about how "evil isn't more powerful than good" but then literally prove the exact opposite to be true whenever a villain turns good.
I thought about this too. He would do that speed dash on the rangers or do the arrow move from his dagger and instantly beats them. Then suddenly even the way he transforms becomes less cool after he joins them.

I remember in DB Tien was hyped as some enlightened perfect warrior who unlocked third eye and could use any technique, in very next arc he was completely useless. He doesn't even copy kaioken or some other moves that could have helped him stay relevant longer. He was just nerfed into the ground, it's not like everyone else got much stronger, he himself become weaker.
He wasn't important enough.
Writers went: bitch who gon care for some bald ass third eye wielding warrior that could potentially be one of the greatest fighters of Earth? That shit crazy, here krillin go into the tournament of power and represent universe 7 better
He even died, crossed Snakeway, reached King Kai's planet, and trained with him for months, and yet in all this time he never learned Kaioken or spirit bomb, and was hopelessly outmatched by every other character for the rest of the series, despite it being canon that all he does 24/7 is train and strive to be the best martial artist. Then someone like gohan has a training montage and suddenly he's SS2 and can clap perfect Cell with ease
don't forget that one character on the team who is still skeptical of former villain and then former villain tries their best to gain trust which leads to both of them spontaneously and dramatically opening up when they're awake and can't sleep at night.

Vegeta didn’t get nerfed though, just goku was getting stronger. Vegeta started out stronger due to having more dangerous battle experience, but when goku also got that experience, it closed the gap. It’s not like vegeta is below anyone else besides goku though, besides the gods.

Kimimaro wasn't even closed to paralyzed. Weakened? Sure but his jutsu and the curse mark was doing the majority of the work. Kimimaro could fight against alot of the strong characters and hold his own. He'd lose only against like Kage level ppl

Besides that, hashirama cells are a retcon, so he founded the Akatsuki and manipulated a big chunk of the series and went toe to toe with Minato. On top of that having one of the coolest MS abilities aside from Shisui.

Well that is MOSTLY true... I can think of few exceptions though, particularly Hiei from "YuYu Hakusho" (who I don't think ever got nerfed) and - arguably - Kurei from "Flame of Rekka" (though - admittedly - Kurei turning good may be a bit of a stretch). They were still formidable throughout the rest of the story with both actually slaughtering some of the "big bads" after the turn.
Obito is a prime example also.......the moment he turned to the good side got fucked and couldn't even protect his shit ass from madara
Hiei is actually the complete opposite of this cliché bcs he was weak af when he first appeared and fought mc but after joining the good side he exponentially grew stronger and by the end of the story he was a literal boss. The only reason why he seemed strong at the beginning is bcs mc was weak as well.

As a seven deadly sins fan (this is for people how watch it), Zeldris was the big bad villain who could destroy anything in his path and was considered one of the most powerful characters in the anime until he was reunited with gelda (season finally). In the movie I was like... 🤔 is this the real Zeldris that I knew in season 2.

Zuko had taken PLENTY of Ls before he joined the team. His only “loss” after was against Azula coz 1.she cheated and 2. she was one of the best firebenders alive at the time
@@j.g.3293 This is the comment right here. Zuko’s firebending skills essentially remained the same throughout the whole trilogy. Even when Iroh tried to teach him the proper techniques, he would get impatient and rush through them. He couldn’t master transferring the lightening right away either. Plus, even when Zuko lost his ability to firebend after joining team Avatar, that didn’t last long at all. It actually did make sense for his character, who used hatred and his desire for his father’s approval as a means to propel him forward, to now have difficulty finding a new drive.
But he got much stronger after that, and almost beat Azula in the end
