That's how a son should address his Dad, especially after he is told to do something. I think it honestly should be "Yes sir", or "No sir."
Calling you're father "Dad", perfectly fine, but when you're told to do something by him, you should always respond with: "Yes sir."
Or if it's your mom, you say: "Yes ma'am."

@@thecowboy9698 only in America. In Europe no one addresses their parents as sir or ma'am as it would be strange in non American culture. Its too formal in the family home we would always use mam/mum and dad or a variant of that. As an adult it would be unthinkable to answer to your parents in such a way as sir or ma'am. Other people would think you're stupid as when you have your own family or not even living at home any longer you don't answer to your parents any more. The only 2 people the average person answers to are the person that pays them wages and the law of the land.

That's what a lifetime of exercise, hard-drinking, hard-fucking, and hard work does to you. I have guys my age who've lived a similar lifestyle and we all look about 10+ years older than we are in actuality. My wife is actually ten years (roughly) older than me and nobody ever guesses that she's older than me. For some it's not until they come to our place and see our graduation mugs that they figure it out. Personally at my age I'm grateful for how much more serious people take me when I speak my mind. But when it sucks is when you get up in the morning, or sit down somewhere that's a bit shorter than what you're used to!

The last clip makes me think deeply and gives some sympathy to Goro Miyazaki, Hayao Miyazaki’s son. They rarely spoke to one another, If old Hayao spent less time honing his craft and spent more time studying how kind, loving, empathic, American fathers treated their sons, his relationship with Goro would be much different but better. Instead what he “taught” Goro was that he was less important to him than ordinary people who’ve never seen his face, in person, in other parts of the world, and Goro learned it so well, it’s perhaps the catalytic reason why they don’t get along so well.

"Did I ever tell you to eat up? Go to bed? Wash your ears? Do your homework? No, I respected your privacy, and I taught you, self-reliance." A lesson for each dad to learn. I'm gonna try that method when I have kids. Especially since my parents are too damn nosey! I'm almost 16 now, and my parents haven't taught me anything about relying on myself yet. They haven't taught me how to do taxes, how to maintain a house, they nag too much, and all of it has caused me to depend on them for EVERYTHING!!!!!! If I'm ever going to do my homework or chores, I need them to nag me to do it first. If I have anywhere I need to go, I need my parents to drive me there. I can't even buy shit for myself without their permission. I know they mean well, and I love them more than life itself, but they need to do a better job teaching me how to live on my own before I move out.

That's a very mature view of the world you have there... That fact that you "know what you don't know", is rare. You will do well.
And remember, "the pen is mightier than the sword"...

To think so many of today's snowflakes, who want to perpetually extend their adolescence, admire this guy

Some really good acting chops from both of them when the late Anna Mary Jones is brought up. Ford sounds genuinely bitter, and Connery deeply hurt.
It's harder when you see her in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, and see how much both her husband and son loved her.
