The brand "theflower iris" is an ethical cut-and-sew slow fashion brand. It will be known for its heavy feature of florals, whimsical silhouettes, and rainbow moods.
the brand is dedicated to the iris flower for its symbolism of rainbows. Every colour in the rainbow is tied to a specific emotion and the brand is meant to follow you through it all.
it is a love letter and a hug to one's self.
theflower iris's core design direction and lore are led by its colour story, floral motifs and nostalgia.
The silhouettes are simple and familiar. This simplicity is paired with floral and textured fabrics from cotton to silk to wool sourced anywhere from Japan to South Korea to Canada. This relationship personifies the calm yet fantastical storyline of the brand: simple yet fun.
My fashion sense and style aesthetic moved away from streetwear and into the 80s and 90s McQueen and Mugler. I now look to a conglomerate of designers from Alexander McQueen and Dries van Noten to Theirry Muger and Jacqumus for inspiration. These brands give me a visual mix of femininity and masculinity, minimalism and drama. All the things that I use in building theflower iris.
I am currently working on my first collection for my upcoming small business. I am documenting the process and journey with studio vlogs. I wanted to share the behind-the-scenes of the process for people to watch, enjoy, learn, and follow along.
