You are absolutely right! And The truth hurts for anybody who is offended about what you say.
To get a decent paying job you need a college degree the majority of the time. And if mommy and daddy don’t pay for it you will be in debt for many many years trying to pay your student loan off every month. It will affect you buying a home and even buying a car.
Cost of living has gotten out of control here in the states the past 5 years. Mass shootings are out of control.
Yeah and I think it's going to get worse it's important to make adjustments.

Seriously, I know so many people, myself included, who go to bed and before their 3.5 hours of sleep pray that they'll just die of a heart attack or a brain aneurysm just to end it all.

That's so true about the midlife crisis part and I think for millennials that midlife crisis will be even worse than it was for gen x. The rate at which people have chosen to go to college has increased from 40% to 60% over the last 25 years but people are continuing to get less and less out of their education and the costs of college are leading to more and more debt, so much debt that people are finding they can't dig them selves out of it until their mid 40s, this is not the American dream and the sooner people realize they've been had the better.

Access to capital and largest economy in the world. Makes it alot easier to make money.
Not being American I never quite understood the American dream... to me it sounded like living to work (and not the other way round) until one gets rich. Being a very minimalistic person I've never quite understood that. Personally I'll never earn 6 figures, but I managed to own a small flat in my city and renovate a medieval house near the sea by the age of 37. Having 6 weeks paid holidays in summer, I can really take advantage of my second home. That has always been my Italian dream (being Italian)... even though the burocracy was certainly worse than in the US. Personally I do not need anything else, but that has meant a lot of elbow grease and discipline in the beginning of my life and postponing having a child so that I could take care of him debt free. I could do it all because I won a scholarship to support myself during University... not something unusual in Europe (I won both an Italian and a much more generous German scholarship). Should I call it my European dream then?
Perhaps. But what you're writing about speaks to the major differences between the two societies. I try to tell people the American dream is horrible. The thing I like about America is access to capital and employment opportunities and less red tape
@@Karl__Pierre access to capital was not a major issue for me, but the red tape in Italy (and Germany, in a different way) can constitute a major drawback (actually humongous in Italy!). Being from Milan I've never had a lack of opportunities and there are many vacancies throughout the EU at the moment, but I unfortunately notice that there is a huge reticence against moving around our continent even for the younger generation. I've never been to the US, but probably people there are more inclined to take risks. Am I wrong?🤔 I've never experienced a culture as risk-averse as mine unfortunately, which is a huge obstacle even in our personal lives.
@@mimmiblu6138 access to capital may not be a major issue for you but to get business loans, mortgages, is much different in Europe than in USA that's what I mean access.

American dream has never existed, its been called the land of opportunities. Those that call it american dream just fall asleep and do nothing. Dk what is it with you people talking bad of this country. I can tell you this country aint dead is just been poorly managed but if you smart you can do it. Im 40 and back in school getting another bachelors cause a company paying it, im working, i do like 2-3 jobs in which other country in world can you do this??? Youve lived in colombia which has way more problems and talking crap of this country. Ive had many good opportunities here, colombia is more annoying and im from there
Here we go again. Again what did I say in this video, there's alot of opportunities here and if you like it here....stay here and enjoy working 2-3 jobs. There are people who don't prefer that, and would prefer to be in Colombia or other nations that suit them.... look at you for example youre from colombia and dislike it there, why others go there and love it just like you and the USA.... I think to earn, and live in a "comfortable functional " country, for access to credit etc it's good.

@@Karl__Pierre i work 2-3 jobs cause i like it. Colombia is too disorganized, food tastes like nothing, country looks worse since the 1990s. And people like you who know crap of colombia talking shit. I went over there thinking to do something watching stupid videos like these and colombia aint good. @@Jean_villegas hahaha 😆 😂 🤣 no one has to agree with you and you don't have to agree with me, I actual enjoy engaging with people with a different point of view it allows me to learn something or atleast see things from another perspective. In this particular case my parents see the USA as you do, i also think it's a great place to make and spend money...what I do know for sure is that MANY people are finding it harder and harder to make it to a quality of life they want for themselves. They are working over 40 hours a week on dual incomes and still not seeing the upward mobility people just 30 years ago have. Then you have others who have extracted value from the USA, disagree with the lifestyle or politics and rather than stick around they go in search of an alternative life.
I'm glad you love it hear, really I am. I'm speaking to an audience that wants to have that same experience as you, where they are happy to call a new place home for their reasons...except outside the USA...

You are one of the very very few people that a company is paying for a college degree. And you can work as many jobs as needed in other countries.

The best thing Americans can do is not go to college and instead invest in a business, if they accumulate to much debt from going to university for 4 to 6 years they'll be to over leveraged to be able to get a loan in most cases, but for whatever reason when I tell most people this they'll come back at me with things like "getting a college loan is so much easier than a business loan" or "in order to be successful in life you have to go to college even if it's just to learn business"

Most Americans aren't built for entrepreneurship. They just need to go to college to get professions. I don't advocate for less education or entrepreneurship for all...it's definitely not for all
@@Karl__Pierre Understandable, but there comes a point where inflation has gotten so high and the returns you're getting on that education vs the amount you paid for it just doesn't add up, something it the states is going to break before to long.

Great video. I think you have your finger on something important. I've been thinking about similar things, though I'm old enough to be your Dad. I'm a retired Boomer. You are spot on, in your thoughts. It think it's about people under 40, reinventing many things that half worked for some people, of my generation. It's time to invent a new American Dream. The American Dream 2.0. This is a great time for young people, if you realize this is a great world, there is way more opportunity for a better life for many people. When I was a kid, there was no internet, no color TV, just a few black and white sets. Now endless information is at your fingers, to reimagine your dreams. But the key is, young people will have to reinvent many things:
Pessimism comes from failure of imagination. Millennials are dropping out, often for good reason. Many of the old answers from previous generations don't work anymore. Their lives won't be the same as their parents. That's good. Their lives can be better than ours was.
Many Millennials won't buy a house in the suburbs, won't work for a big corporation, spend their lives paying taxes, making the banking 1% even richer. They don't believe in perpetuating a system that makes a few rich, while leaving everyone else a peasant. There is a ton of online documentaries on cheap alternative housing and alternative city construction. Elon Musk lives in a cheap alternative house.
The world of opportunity has never been greater, because technology has never been greater. People under 40 are so, so lucky. 🍀I hope they know that. Pessimism comes from expecting your parents answers to work for you, then being upset that they no longer work. For complicated reasons, the future can't be what the past was. Won't work. So: Imagine an alternative instead. A far better alternative. The future can't be the past, but it can be a far better future, than the past. The hard part of solving many things, is reimagining the future, reimagining many things.
President Trump wanted peace in the middle east. He imagined that endless dialogue about past historical grievance was a waste of time, that if he set in place practical measures to increase local wealth, peace would follow. Thus he came up with the Abraham Accords.
Joe Rogan talked to Matt Taibi about the Twitter scandal. About how social media companies corrupt politics. Matt as an independent journalist said it's obvious big media is disappearing, is being replaced by decentralized media, such as this channel. People under 40 don't trust Big Media, they shouldn't. They will invent better alternatives.
Cities need to be reimagined, for what people want.
A friend of mine just retired to Florida called The Villages. Videos online. It was planned for the needs of retirees. It's heaven on earth, for some retired people. Our cities are a wasteland of malfunction, don't work anymore. They need a complete overhaul. There are lots of online videos about city design in Europe. Much better than American cities. Very walkable European cities like Amsterdam.
Banking and money are being reimagined: Crypto will replace central banks and the American dollar.
Elon Musk is busy imagining the future is electric. It will be. Nuclear fusion is coming for unlimited free energy, but even our current fission nuclear is getting so good, we can eventually redesign our energy system, stop using fossil fuels. Soon new nuclear and strong batteries will replace our current fossil fuel energy system.
The young should be taught to imagine a better world, then build it. The future belongs to people like you, who have the vision to see it. You do. Good luck!

@ENTP LIFE I'm not homeless yet. I live in Seattle and it's fucking pathetic that every job you get, without a degree won't pay you enough to live. The people I homeless camps are either unemployed beggars on the street or the people working three jobs just to support their kids. America is the richist country on the planet and yet we have the highest homeless and unemployment in the world. Yet every article, every statistic, everything ignores it and just posts about things that aren't as important as roe v Wade being overturned or how companies are continuing to make record profits. The real world is a bunch of pack mules with blinders of media on fighting to survive in a system that is doing everything they can to keep the wealth gap larger and larger.

Here's my point of view. I am pro-life, I love children and the chance for them to come into existence. I have also had 2 abortions one which was not my choice and the other medically necessary. At the time that my partner had the abortions the law made it her choice and I respected the law and her opinion even though it differed from mine.
My overall point of view is that people should operate within the laws that govern the land they live in and make the best choices they can for themselves. This is why I advocate for people to perhaps find home in another country that fits their point of view rather than going around trying to convince their peers to agree with them.
Have you ever been through an abortion or know people who have? I think there's alot to learn from them as to why they exercised that option or medical care that required it. In some cases it's not a form of birth control while in others it is.
Lastly these belief driven arguments are pointless since it goes nowhere.
