I've loved diesel loco's since I was a child. A great experience I had with my Dad many times as I road in the cab with him in these big, heavy, powerful machines. He was the hog head (drove them). A great time in my life. I just love the sounds of the turbo chargers here. I find the sound is very soothing and relaxing. Thanks to all you railroaders for keeping the country moving with all those goods. Thanks for this upload BlackAtom.
I'm not entirely sure, as Pond 5 is full of recordings for sale of various trains idling, but few are labeled exactly beyond "diesel train" idling. So what I did in this instance was find a live recording that someone had made of an EMD SD70ACe idling, and then went down through each recording on Pond 5 until I found one that sounded similar. My reasoning being if they sounded the same, then odds are it was the recording I was searching for. The videos I watched were labeled SD70s and the audio I found sounded very similar. I guess it really depends on if the videos I compared the audio to were accurate or not. Glad you like it and as always thanks for listening!
@@BlackAtomProductions you would be forgiven for doing that. The EMD 567, 645, and 710 engine series all sound very similar because *they are* all based off of one another. Only needs like myself and SpawnCoopOmega can reasonably discern the difference between how they all sound. It mostly comes down to a difference in displacement, fuel injection, and blower design. The 567 and some versions of the 645 use roots style blowers or a roots blower + a turbo, however, 710s use only a clutchpack disengagable turbo-supercharger. This means that at low engine speed it is directly driven by a gearbox, but at higher engine speed the supercharger becomes a turbocharger as it is only driven by exhaust when exhaust pressure is high enough.
Despite the unfortunate errors of identification, this is still a great sound to listen too for sleeping. Thanks for another great upload.keep up the good work mate.👍👍
Before I make any more of these, I have a few videos saved on how to identify trains properly. It takes more than a simple Google search. The sounds are accurate though, it's just the thumb nails and visuals I need to do better matching up with. Thanks for listening!
I plan on it. I purchase most of my sound effects from sites like Pond 5 and I piece the visuals together myself using various sources such as Pixabay, Pexels, footage crate, etc. I'm also working on learning a blender, so I can create my own graphic scenes from scratch.
@@BlackAtomProductions sweet!!!! I also even have Diesel engine videos I made on my channel that are looped over 10 hours. I screen record a small clip of them idling in various UA-cam videos and then I use iMovie to edit them by extending and looping the clip for over 10 hours and cover the whole video with an image of the specific engine
Those are live stream videos. When a video is streamed live it's recorded and then archived on the channel. That's the only way that I'm aware of to have a video over 12 hours on UA-cam.
Ironically before they changed the law if you worked up to 11:59 hours you were required 8 hours rest. If you did 12 hours you needed 10 hours. Most crews would make that 11:59 mark exactly lol
Good work but this is EMD idle not GE as shown. GE are 4 cycle and have a “thud” sound. EMD is 2 cycle and the winy sound you are hearing is the turbos. Both locos are kick xss
@@REDFIREVIPERthey have turbos also but work different GE will kick in the more they Rpm up. Basically locomotives are just generators that produce electricity to turn the wheels
This is the image that came up when I did a search for the EMD SD70ace, which is why I used it. I could change it, but the audio is correct. The image is less important than the sound, but thanks for letting me know. And thanks for listening.
I'll watch a few YT videos at some point to try an learn the differences and how to identify trains. Though I'm more focused on the audio and not the visuals I will try to be more accurate in the future.
The audio file I purchased for this video listed it as an 70ace and the image I chose for the thumbnail is what came up in the search. I'm not an expert on trains, so I rely on what comes up via searches though I'm not as concerned with imagery as much as I am with the audio. Thanks for listening!

You're very welcome and thanks for listening!
Gosh, I love that sound. It's like a lullaby to me it helps me sleep.
I hope you sleep well 😴
Title: EMD SD70ACe Idling
Sound: EMD SD40-2
Video: GEVO
Lmao. Still nice to listen to though.
I guess google search isn't as reliable as we've been led to believe 😂
As someone who has spent hours on a siding on red lights. This idle us spot on fir sleepy time!
Sleep well! 😴
Play this track when in my EV car while it's charging!!
Enjoy and thanks for listening!
Remembering my days as a kid staying at my grandma’s and sleeping to these giants rolling by the house every night, so somber
Enjoy 😁
😫😫😫Sounds like an SD-40/2 or an SD50 - either way I love it. Well done! ❤️☺️

It’s idling a bit fast, like it’s ready to go.
I love the sound of EMD 567 , 645 , and 710 diesel engines!!!
Glad to hear it and thanks for listening!

SD70ACes are awesome locomotives
Thanks for listening!
LOVE the train and locomotive videos!
Glad you like them!
Yes that’s an EMD.
Thanks for listening!
The 710G3B low idle is sleep inducing.
Thanks for listening!
I love this. I am tired now time for bed 🥱
Sleep well!
Reminds me of sleeping in some siding on the Tehachapi mountains.
Sleep well!
I love this!!! Please make more Diesel engine videos!!!! Also, how do you make these videos?

I want a longer version
😂 I'm afraid 12 hours is the UA-cam limit.
@@BlackAtomProductions I’ve seen a 24 hour video though

@@BlackAtomProductions ok
They would get a summons for that in most large cities.
Summons for what?
Zzzzzzz........too relaxing.
Sleep well my friend 😴
I liked this vid more than the other, just as suggestion, it would be interesting increase and decrease the volume sound in a rythmycal pace.
Thanks for listening!
sounds more like an SD40
All I can tell you is that the audio file I purchased for this video listed it as an SD70. Thanks for listening!
How long until the air pressure relief valve pops?
Thanks for listening, enjoy 😀
Sounds of an EMD with a picture of 2 GEVOs.
Enjoy 😀
Next can you do the Santa Fe super chief?
I'll see what I can do.
He has an F7 idling someways back in his videos
Karens: “IT IS NOT 12 HOURS IT IS 11 HOURS 59 MINUTES AND 59 SECONDS I WANT SPEAK TO THE MANAGER!!”
😂 Fair enough, though in my defense I need that extra second in order for UA-cam to let me upload the video 😆
To Karens: "just set the speed to .75X and you will get much more than 12 hours, jejeje"
Gets out train
Runs over Karen

Just a nerd on locomotives. good work and I will enjoy
It’s just a thumbnail; not everything is gonna be 100% accurate.
Ohhhhhh I did not know. So GE's haven´t turbos?
@@REDFIREVIPERthey have turbos also but work different GE will kick in the more they Rpm up. Basically locomotives are just generators that produce electricity to turn the wheels
lol you gotta change the pic - cause that’s a GEVO not an SD70.

This is actually a 645 not a 710G3C
Thanks for listening!
@@BlackAtomProductionsalso thee thumbnail is an AC44CW
It's a sd 40 idling not sd70

Um sir, the picture is a Gevo though
Thanks for info!
1. Doesn’t sound like a 710
2. Icon is GE products and not EMD

Those ain't even EMD's. 😂
