    Once you see the "iron man" faces in the vinyl design, you can't unsee it.

    That's one ugly dash and what's up with the throttle control? One lever for 2 engines?

    I own a 19' jetboat. I don't think boats this size should be jet powered by PWC engines. We used to own a Larson Cabrio 270 cabin cruiser that was way heavier than this boat. It was powered with twin 220hp Mercruiser V8s with Alpha one drives. We could run 55mph in that boat. Used to burn lots of fuel too. I can't imagine how much fuel this boat is gonna burn through with 600 supercharged horses. That's a lot of power and fuel to only get you 55mph IMHO.

      a seadoo 300 burns 25-26 gal/hr wot so this boat would be over 50 gallons per hour easy

      If you even have to consider the cost of fuel then you shouldn't even be looking at this boat. In my boat I just expect to burn 75 gallons a day in the summer when I am skiing with the family. Size your boat to your budget. You can always leave people on the beach or in a cove and cycle them in and out throughout the day.
      It is always nice to make friends or family so you can have multiple types of boats in your friend group. I have a ski boat, my brother has a pontoon, and our dad has a fishing boat. Covers all out needs. Party barge for hanging out and hauling people, ski boat for skiing, and when we go on a fishing trip we take my dads boat. We also have a friend with 2 jet skis and one with a jet boat that does about 80 MPH. Really covers all our bases.

      Yes, it will be thirsty but no more thirsty than an xr1800 yamaha was. It could also burn 25 gph per engine and had a 50 gallon tank and I would go through about that in a moderate day of tow sports. Obviously full throttle I'd used as a blip a few times a day to show of and you burn a third of that cruising...And that was a super light 18 footer with gp1200r 2 strokes. If you want fuel economy, your 19' yamaha isn't even as good as sx230 ho at about 3.2 mpg. Maybe you are just justifying your budget, or lack of it. I like the 190s for where I am but have a 2008 ar230 because it is bigger. If I could afford it, I would have a a 242 Ltd s, and once I had that I would wish I had a 275. I would not want this scarab because it is a big ugly plain looking boat....

      These engines are probably better than stern drives assuming seadoo adds some additional changes for longevity over the standard watercraft. Stern drives are heavy, large, and the stern unit is terrible to service.

    Love everything except the engine compartment. No way you'll ever be able to service these engines. They should move the waterbox and hoses aft and allow access from the rear so that the interior does not get oily during repairs. The service intervals for supercharger rebuilds is 200 hours although the clutches tend to slip at 100hours.

    • @OSkyFireO
      @OSkyFireO 4 роки тому

      you are not correct. On the previous generation of Scarabs right up until the 2017 models the ROTAX supercharger repair was at 200 hours, not 100. From 2018 onwards the superchargers are of a new design and require no re-build.....ever.

    • @joshuakravitz1524
      @joshuakravitz1524 4 роки тому

      @mike force I agree however a supercharger rebuild is substantial compared to typical engine maintenance given the tight access. The supercharger has three bolts holding it on, one under the engine and one that needs a special tool (thin wrench) to access. With little room on a twin engine the repair becomes a huge headache. Hence why moving the water boxes back and allowing rear access would allow this to be easy. I am speaking as a owner and mechanic for several Sea-Doo and rotax boats, and the supercharger maintenance is the one blemish on these otherwise very low maintenance (and easy to work on) engines. Rotax should have used a different bearing /clutch design but unfortunately was stuck upgrading the design from the original 1503 engines that had issues.

    • @joshuakravitz1524
      @joshuakravitz1524 4 роки тому

      @@OSkyFireO rotax did not change the design on the supercharger washers or bearings. The superchargers are the same design and were pushed to a higher interval. Please someone from rotax correct me if you switched suppliers or engineering tolerances and how you base your repair interval. Most clutches still slip after 100hrs on the newer engines, 200 on boats.

    • @joshuakravitz1524
      @joshuakravitz1524 4 роки тому

      @mike force I'd also like to add that typical engine layout for marine systems is setup for sustainment and worst case maintenance. If you look at this engine compartment accessing something like the starter motor, exhaust manifold, intercooler etc. can become major repair headaches despite the relatively easy actual repair given appropriate access. Yamaha does a good job of providing ample access to the engines in the compartments since they give large engine access and separation in their boats (especially the newer ones), whereas Sea-Doo has typically avoided this additional engine design layout as far back as when they put the 1503 in their boat line.

    It doesn’t seem like the boat has the fit and finish that the Yamaha 275 has. In addition, there are way more extras to purchase that you don’t have to one the Yamaha. Just saying!

    • @BoatingMagazine
      @BoatingMagazine  Рік тому

      This boat is Yacht Certified. Such boats are built to a high standard, and captains should use their experience and judgement in loading the boat ( and other things)
      Also, per federal Law, only boats 20-feet LOA and shorter are required to state capacity.. Per NMMA specs, boats under 26-feet LOA must display capacity.
