Visakhapatnam Junction railway station is a major railway station located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is on the Howrah-Chennai main line and administered under the South Coast Railway zone by Indian Railways. The station is a terminus; trains must either end their journeys there or reverse out of the station.
Visakhapatnam has been a busy station since it was part of the East Coast Railway zone to today. Platforms are not always available for incoming trains, and the average train's halt period is at least 20 minutes. If a train is late, trains after it are stopped at Duvvada or Vizianagaram.The Route Relay Interlocking (RRI) system is an arrangement of signal apparatus, preventing conflicting movements through an arrangement of tracks such as junctions or crossings. It is a cause for trains being delayed after they pass through Duvvada.
Over 5,000 people per day travel between Visakhapatnam and Secunderabad, which are connected by over 18 trains. Another route, the Godavari Express of the South Central Railway, passes into Visakhapatnam.

@@shrabanisen4364 actually after Visakhapatnam Dead end because of sea threre is no Direct track go to Howrah after reaching Vizag engine Must be change for reverse Direction. Train Route also change . That's why that's called junction station. One more clarification for you Visakhapatnam to Koraput Route also there instead of Howrah line

Station looks beautiful. But lot of rubbish on the railway track as well as on the ground. Railway Ministry should appoint one cleaner in every train to collect rubbish so that passenger avoid throughing rubbish outside.

The gap between the platform and train is dangerous and must be closed. In the meantime the railways should at least put warning signs. Also, garbage and littering on tracks must not be allowed. IR must take passenger safety and cleanliness seriously.
