Cause the amount of energy and resources used to produce windmills (and sometimes solar panels too, with all the rare metals in it) has a bigger impact on the environment than they can compensate in their average lifespan, so actually wind Mills aren't that good, nuclear power is way better. Old video, but I guess it's worth leaving some corrections and clarifications. Computer recycling is not profitable at all, you can ask anyone that works with it. The video is ok, but misleading. All contacts, traces, pins and whatnot inside computers that have some gold in it is just nanometer thick layer on top of some other more common worthless metal, as is most precious metals used in such electronics. This means tha in other for you to get a bar of gold like that, of reasonable purity, you need tons of discarded computers and multiple process steps. Further, the processes and chemicals used are very expensive at volume, as is the process of safely handling and discarding them. And then you have all the logistics and transportation necessary in between. Recycling cocmpanies struggle hard to break even. This is why most of the computer and electronics recycling these days is made in some poor african country: because they skip safe usage and disposal of chemicals, no protective gear or welfare for workers, and they can also use cheaper, more dangerous and less environmentally friendly processes to extract precious and rare metals. Which is the whole reason why we need government subsidies, or laws and regulations to force electronics manufacturers to at least partially subsidize recycling operations.

@@timbroski4487 Sure did, but I don't see what that has to do with anything. While it's true that all metals-by simple virtue of being metals-are decent enough conductors you wouldn't want to touch them while they're electrified, it's also true that compared to the standards set by other metals, gold is actually a pretty poor conductor. The usual counter-argument I hear to that is "Nuh-uh, gold conducts electricity quite well, that's why they use it in electronics!" But that's not true at all. The reason it's used in electronics is because it doesn't corrode/tarnish like many other metals do. They put a layer of gold over any location where copper wiring (the far superior conductor) will be exposed to air, to act as a protective barrier to keep the copper wires from tarnishing and becoming useless. They plate it on mere atoms thick so as to also minimize the impact it has on passing electronic currents between one set of wires and the next. So the simple fact of the matter is, the video's claim that gold is an excellent conductor is patently false.
