One of the most fun things about the Halloween episode is seeing what the kids will dress up as. Because the Belchers aren’t at all rich, they need to get creative for costume ideas which they really do live up to. It’s also a way for Linda to interact with them, in the making of these costumes and there’s an episode where she tries to convince the family to use their share of a gift card a customer gave as a tip to go to a new sewing machine so she can make better quality costumes.
Also because they're creative but in a different way from what you're talking about, like they don't go for a regular cheap Halloween costume, they will go weird in their own ways
As a middle class kid I appreciate their costumes so much. One year my little sister (about 4) had a broken leg so he ripped up an old black dress, put her in an old stroller and used posterboard to decorate it to say “ambulance”. I think the heart and soul of bonding with your kids while making things work with what you have is what makes Bob’s so relatable to me
i agree, i really love how the show has built the relationship between the two and played with their dynamic without sacrificing either ones core personality, theyve let Millie become an ally (if not a friend) while keeping her just as obsessive and unsympathetic
Although Millie might subtlety be a sociopath since the episode "Ancient Misbehavin," when Lousie, Rudy, and Millie are in an ancient Greek class and start a counterfeit coin operation because the panopticon style seating arrangement makes it impossible to engage and participate in the class prize system (along with their teacher unintentionally favoring one side over the rest). Even after being caught and Louise and Rudy plea for their case (the class teaching style being flawed), Millie admits she feels nothing over the whole affair and suggests counterfeiting real money using her dad's printer.
I'm glad they dialed Millie back just a tad, the episode where she almost gets them killed was a LOT, and makes the character a LITTLE hard to "root for" as they make Louise her 'other side.'
@@NobodyC13 To be fair to Millie: most kids don't really have empathy switch on properly until their late-teen years. So while she has sociopathic tendencies, I wouldn't say she's full-blown.
I was thrown for a loop with the song since I know the music video it was referencing. As the little brother of a teen sister in the late 90s, whom the latter always kept the upstairs TV on either WB or MTV, I recognize the song as a parody of Backstreet Boys' music video "Backstreets Back" since they both feature each member of the band becoming a classic horror movie monster.

Did he respond in a negative or mean way or did he politely decline? I mean, if it went either way, I would've also been sad if someone decline my request but for her to be so infatuated with an animal to the point where she would write about her and the goose having kids that I just find it beyond the level of Tina's normal weirdness. Also, are the writers actually gonna go somewhere with Tina x Jimmy Jr.? I mean, I get that they're kids but for them to make some episodes where they're close and Jr. being friendly and in others where they are distant, and Jr. is being a jerk is just confusing. Also, many keep on saying that Tina deserves better, but I think people tend to forget that Tina is a stalker. I mean, she keeps things that Jr. had supposedly thrown out, and even kept some pairs of socks and has even labeled them, has gone to an extreme level of perversion where she actually crawled through her school's ceiling just to peek in on the Boy's locker-room, and stalked Jr. while he was on a date with Becky. Now, that was one of the episodes where Jr. was a jerk, but Tina isn't exactly a saint either with her stalking them. Can the writers just make up their minds? Cause it feels like they keep going back and forth on whether we should ship Tina and Jr. or not. Again, I get that they're kids and that they'll make dumb choices, but it just feels like we're getting little to no traction in some instances. Sorry for the long response. The whole ""will they, won't they" thing in this show is just getting old and I'm not gonna lie but I'm getting a little tired of Tina being down in the dumps. So, either they ship them and commit to it, or Tina looks for someone else.
@@thewillofabeast9079I think a part of it is the change in tone from the beginning of the show- early show Tina absolutely would have had a weird crush on a goose, but it’s pretty far out there for late show Tina. Same with the stalking- the early show set up a lot of extremely negative character traits bc it was meant to be more absurdist and it was before the audience had an emotional attachment to the characters. I skip a lot of early show episodes bc bob is literally evil and Linda is a typical nagging wife. In like, the second episode there’s a shot of bob making out with a cow in a dream sequence. It honestly bothers me the way they’ll switch up the characterization of characters like jimmy jr based on whether they want to pull at your heartstrings- he’s mean when they’re punching down on Tina meg-style and sweet when they’re trying to make a positive episode or ending. I think the goose thing is just a really sad extension of Tina’s loneliness that doesn’t read well as a joke. If you think of Tina as a real 13 year old girl she’s unbelievably pitiful and pathetic.
Bob's burgers does a great job with the fall-winter holidays. It does a lot for Thanksgiving compared to others but it does its best to keep Halloween scary, fun but realistic
Totally agree! Some of my personal favorites though are the episodes where the kids each tell a story that relates to whatever’s going on irl (when gene gets food poisoning, Teddy losing his handy man confidence, when Bob & Linda are mad at each other on Valentine’s Day, etc.)
It's was Mort's unscripted scream that would sell it for me. Nothing's scarier than being alone and hearing a horrible, eldritch scream where you can't see the source.
The one thing that's left out of this video is just how precocious the costumes the Belcher kids usually make. Tina's Nun of your business, Louise as the Dragon with the Girl Tattoo, and even Gene's "Fiona Apple Sauce. Fiona Apple's saucy aunt." That's such a nice little touch for those characters, and the commitment to the gentle dad pun humor the show embraces.

the episode where they scare louise is one of my favorites of all television. one of those episodes that has me feeling lonely because i don’t have this kind of connection, and hopeful that one day i could have this kind of connection. all of their holiday episodes leave me feeling that lonely/hopeful combo. truly fantastic. i adore this show. i find so much comfort within the belcher family, and regular sized rudy.
The way i see the Fetal Pig episode, is that they get away with the dream sequence is because we mainly see dream sequences from Tina in the show (Jericho, Zombie fantasies, Etc.)
You could argue the pig episode is the show doing a "Nightmare on Elm Street" parody since it deals with Tina being haunted by a wisecracking entity invading her dreams
My partner and I had just watched the original nightmare on elm street before seeing that episode and theres some *exact* shots recreated in Bob's burgers
I love how toxic and co-dependent the relationship between Linda and Gale can be. Linda always puts her sister's feelings first, will do everything for her, and Gale kind of unknowingly takes advantage of that. Linda enying herself of a win to avoid making Gale sad is sweet but also says a lot about the relationship.
I watch the Halloween specials every year! I think my favorite part is how supportive Bob and Linda are of the costumes whether they get it or not haha
I loved the most recent Halloween episode, because while we've seen Gene stand up for himself before, I feel like this is the first time we've seen him stand up for someone else, where there's no benefit to him, and he simply does it because it's the right thing to do and he's a good kid. And it's so perfectly in keeping with the character's personality that I didn't even think twice about it. While some characters have been Flanderized (Teddy has gotten downright annoying), the main five have simply continued to grow as people and I love the show for it. Teen-a Witch is probably my favorite Halloween episode, because I freaking love Billy Eichner as Mr. Ambrose.
Also there was a episode where they go to a house on the mountain or by a lake and the whole thing was the family worried about the home owner is going to kill Teddy and it ended in a creepy way
The skull monsters from Apple Gore-Chard is the Mari Lwyd, a Welsh Christmas figure that goes door to door, challenging the homeowner in a musical battle as each side gives reasons why the Mari Lwyd can or cant come in. If the Mari Lwyd wins, it gets to enter your house and drink its fill of your alcohol. Why it's included in a Halloween episode, I have no idea. The only through line is the use of Celtic folklore. Brahm mentions Lugh, an Irish god. And the Mari Lwyd is Welsh. Beyond their shared Celtic origins, there is no other reason for the Mari Lwyd to be present.
I agree. If there's one subject that should be covered, it's the Bob's Thanksgiving episodes. Especially the ones where he doesn't get to, or barely is able to cook a turkey, which he puts just so much love into. Except the one where they just play Minigolf. It's not a bad episode, but it could have taken place on any day and could have been just any episode.
I genuinely can't think of a single BB episode that I can confidently call "bad", there are just episodes that are "lesser than others", that's the worst thing I can call them.
@@herotyranus6540 yeah the black garlic one is painful. When they put Gene's mindless selfishness as the plot point for the episode i can't stand it. Something really neat and noteworthy that you didn't mention about The Wolf of Wharf Street, the Bob and Teddy subplot is a direct reference to the movie/book Misery. Teddy is a nurse, and Bob has a broken leg.
I had to stop at the very end to watch the latest episode before coming back to finish, and I was riveted the entire time. The moment you see Louise try to say something in response to Gene's lack of invite, the intrigue is piqued.
The Apple Gore-Chard episode is one of my favorites. The calls to the Wicker Man are amazing, with Louise being terrified of the human sacrifice that's depicted in the original and the Bob being obsessed with the bees with the remake. The combination of the two are hilarious and amazing.
One thing I love about the Halloween episodes is that all the episodes include different ways people celebrate and experiences Halloween. Wether it be Trick or Treating as a kid, having adult Halloween parties, watching Horror movies, going to those Scary Horror Farms or going out to find something scary etc. its just makes the episodes so much more fun.
I gotta say, I never thought that I'd have more than one thing in common with Teddy: I am also a horder, though my family helps me and its on a small scale. Also genuinely, sometimes I wake up with scratches and sometimes bites on myself
What’s interesting as well for comparing Louise and Millie is that Millie is Louise without the love and friendship of the people in Louise’s life. Bob and Linda are both very involved yet self-aware parents (a bit less so for Linda but she’s still far from the worst animated mother by a very long shot), she has a close sibling bond with Gene and Tina and she has a circle of friends, which work to emotionally ground her. Millie lacks this, fixating on Louise at the expense of a sense of restraint in how she expresses it (she’s made her room like exactly like Louise’s despite never entering the Belcher apartment on screen).
I remember the very first episode of Bob's Burgers I ever saw was the first Halloween episode they ever did (season 3) and it immediately got my whole family hooked on the show. I love Halloween and Halloween episodes of media in general, but Bob's Burgers Halloween episodes are always so special to me
I like all the Halloween episodes, but the first few are definitely special. They have a very 90s feel to me, like when my friends and I would hit the neighborhood. It really feels like they could have been inspired by events from the writer's own childhoods.
Bob’s Burgers is GREAT at holiday episodes. The Thanksgiving ones are my favorites, of course, but the Halloween episodes are also fantastic. Second only to classic Simpsons imo.
I can’t stress enough how much I love Bob’s Burgers. You’ve earned a subscriber. I also appreciate how you’re not one of those UA-camrs to butcher the content onscreen with a filter or by flipping the video.
It's really cool how Bob's Burgers uses these holiday specials to introduce new characters and settings that continue to appear throughout the series. Millie and Kings Head Island are two great examples of this. They could've easily abandoned these plotlines after their respective episodes but decided to keep them (which I really respect)
The outro songs of all the halloween episodes are such bangers. Tina’s nun-of-your-business candy rap at the end of The Nightmare on Ocean Avenue is my absolute favorite.
The Angry Orchard is one of my favorite Halloween episodes. Jessica is Louise's true best friend, she's the only one who can go toe to toe with Louise. Millie may be crazier than Louise, but Jessica and Louise seem to bring out the best friend in each other.
My favorite Halloween episode is the FortNight! I love Darryl and obnoxious, creepy Millie--plus Bob and Linda trick or treating in the dragon costume is hilarious
The Haunting is definitely one of the best episodes of Bob Burgers ever. I always come back to it on Halloween and through out the year. Also the credit scene of the family dancing to Boyz 4 Now is so wholesome. Especially how Bob gets really into it
Thanks for covering Bobs a ton!! It’s crazy how consistent this show has been the past 15 years and I think it deserves more recognition, especially the Halloween episodes, not a bad one in the bunch!
2nd Halloween episode also has that great one liner from Mort, "why can't all women want that?" To Linda's "you don't have to be good, you just have to be fast" 😂😂
Tina and the Real Ghost is definitely top Halloween for me, and a favorite in general. This line always gets me: Tammy, meanly: "Where's Tina? Crying into her butt?" Tina, emerging from the shadows: "No. My butt is dry... and strong."
The episode where they succeed in scaring Louise is a fantastic episode on first watch!! It brings genuine horror and then the end reveal makes it a must watch more-than-once episodes from any show!!
seeing louise do that weird doi doi doi hand thing absolutely destroyed my brain. i had no idea anyone else in the world besides me and my friends growing up did that
One of my favorite Bob's Burgers running jokes is how Gene rarely ends up with candy on Halloween. Every year, I hope that he makes it home with a full bag.
This video is again proof why i love your videos. Checking in how many time is left and seeing im halfway in and can enjoy another 25 min is such a good feeling. Thank you
42:55 I feel like you'll enjoy knowing the history and cultural significance of the "skull monsters" 😂 These costumes are a welsh folklore tradition of a spirit called the "Mari Lwyd", which I belive is usually more of a christmas/midwinter thing. But basically the Mari Lwyd is a creature made from sackcloth and a horse's skull with bright baubles for eyes and an articulated mouth that the costume wearer can use to speak to you in-character essentially. They roam the city chasing people around and stop by random houses to engage in a contest of rhyming or singing with the homeowners to try and gain entry into the home. If Mari Lwyd is succesful they will enter the home and begin eating all the food in the pantry and drinking all the booze stored in the house, but in exchange the home will be blessed with good fortune for the year to come
Bob’s Halloween episodes are my comfort on Halloween for sure! Everything you said about the episodes in this video is 100% accurate! Wonderful work as always Johnny!
I thought this be a cool fact (didn’t watch the movie so I don’t know if this was mentioned in there) those horse costumes in apple gore-chard are actually Mari Lywd, a Welsh tradition that has some pretty interesting practices around it :D
About Heartbreak Hotel-oween, as someone who's squimish about needles and is afraid of the idea of giving blood, I just can't stand the way Linda, Teddy, and the Blood Donors guilt trip and force Bob into doing something that makes him scared and nauseous. Plus the part where he keeps fainting with the needle draining his blood while the Donors are partying with Linda and Teddy angers me. (It kinda reminds me of that Victorious episode where Tori ends up giving up too much blood) And for The Pumpkinening, I just don't care for the "characters think someone is a murderer because of coincidences" trope
this is awesome!! thanks to the halloween section on hulu, I've been watching the Bob's Burgers halloween specials all of October practically on a loop! they're just so fun and I watch them all at least once as a yearly tradition 🎃
I was so disappointed last season when they weren't able to make a dedicated Halloween episode. But, I just consider the documentary style zombie episode of that season to be their *kind of* Halloween episode.

I gotta say, I never thought that I'd have more than one thing in common with Teddy:
I am also a horder, though my family helps me and its on a small scale.
Also genuinely, sometimes I wake up with scratches and sometimes bites on myself
Maybe bite yourself during the day and you won't be tempted at night
I'm a big fan of the recent rise in frequency with your Bob's Burgers videos.
Best Halloween episode is the haunting cause it’s a big twist at the end that the audience didn’t know was coming! Loved it 😊
I remember the very first episode of Bob's Burgers I ever saw was the first Halloween episode they ever did (season 3) and it immediately got my whole family hooked on the show.
The Dragon with the Girl Tattoon was such an amazing idea for a custome
I love how the spider “grabs” the bat to finish the job, quick and subtle 🤣
I can’t stress enough how much I love Bob’s Burgers. You’ve earned a subscriber.
I also appreciate how you’re not one of those UA-camrs to butcher the content onscreen with a filter or by flipping the video.
It's really cool how Bob's Burgers uses these holiday specials to introduce new characters and settings that continue to appear throughout the series. Millie and Kings Head Island are two great examples of this. They could've easily abandoned these plotlines after their respective episodes but decided to keep them (which I really respect)
Louise was so happy to finally be scared.
FULL BARS!? How does this not topple your economy? 🤣🤣🤣 love the Halloween Bob's Burgers episodes!
🗣️🗣️I STAY MELLOW WATCHING JOHNNY 2 CELLOS🗣️🗣️
12 Halloween episodes, yet the kids still haven’t aged.
As much as I love the Halloween episodes, I will be a Thanksgiving episode stan forever
The outro songs of all the halloween episodes are such bangers. Tina’s nun-of-your-business candy rap at the end of The Nightmare on Ocean Avenue is my absolute favorite.
if i wanna put some sweets all up in my teeth it’s nun of your business!
The monster costumes 43:32 look to be the Mari Lwyd which is a Welsh folk legend that comes around at Christmas in Wales (UK)
When he said 15 years I was shocked man, no way the show is 15 years old now man started to make me feel old now 😂
Because it’s not 15 years old yet. It came out in 2011, 13 years ago
The Haunting episode got me when Mort made that croaking noise! I laughed so hard 😂😂
I love Darryl and obnoxious, creepy Millie--plus Bob and Linda trick or treating in the dragon costume is hilarious

missed opportunity to say
"see what tricks make these episodes such a treat"
Your bobs burgers videos have become some of my favorites of the channel man this stuff rocks
Linda and Gayle teaming up in the Halloween special is good I always like episodes that add backstory
Tina and the Real Ghost is definitely top Halloween for me, and a favorite in general. This line always gets me:
Tammy, meanly: "Where's Tina? Crying into her butt?"
Tina, emerging from the shadows: "No. My butt is dry... and strong."
The episode where they succeed in scaring Louise is a fantastic episode on first watch!!
It brings genuine horror and then the end reveal makes it a must watch more-than-once episodes from any show!!
Man I can’t wait for the other holiday episodes! I liked the last Halloween episode. We don’t get a lot of episodes about Gene’s school social life.
That Boys For Now Music Video Is Great.
can’t believe i got here so early!! i just subscribed to you yesterday, i love listening to your vids when i draw
Welcome! :)
seeing louise do that weird doi doi doi hand thing absolutely destroyed my brain. i had no idea anyone else in the world besides me and my friends growing up did that
One of my favorite Bob's Burgers running jokes is how Gene rarely ends up with candy on Halloween. Every year, I hope that he makes it home with a full bag.
This video reminded me we haven't seen Darryl in forever in the show I really liked his character
those "skull monsters" in the apple orchard is Mari Lwyd! :) part of a folk custom from Wales!!
22:15 Not set in a magical world? Pfff, yeah, right. Next you’ll tell me Chet ISN’T a store mannequin who came to life. Ridiculous.
I'd say a two-butted goat is pretty magical
17:35 Hearing BOB from BOB’s Burgers as BARB-enstein and not BOB-enstein is certainly…something
This video is again proof why i love your videos. Checking in how many time is left and seeing im halfway in and can enjoy another 25 min is such a good feeling. Thank you
These episodes are definitely a must watch for me every year. Same with the Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes.
42:55
I feel like you'll enjoy knowing the history and cultural significance of the "skull monsters" 😂
These costumes are a welsh folklore tradition of a spirit called the "Mari Lwyd", which I belive is usually more of a christmas/midwinter thing. If Mari Lwyd is succesful they will enter the home and begin eating all the food in the pantry and drinking all the booze stored in the house, but in exchange the home will be blessed with good fortune for the year to come
Louise's zombie film needs a special mention as one of the best Halloween adjacent episodes!
I am so happy with these bobs burgers videos
The skull horse thing is Welsh! I recognize the use of bells
The holiday episode are the only content i will watch out of their respective seasons because their that good.
Another Bob’s Burgers video? And about Halloween eps no less? What a treat! (No pun intended.) Perfect watch for spooky night!
Please keep making Bob’s episodes it’s one of the best and most consistent shows nowadays
Bob’s Halloween episodes are my comfort on Halloween for sure! Everything you said about the episodes in this video is 100% accurate! Wonderful work as always Johnny!
Just to let you know those horse skull guys are a Mari Lwyd. They are a part of Welsh wassailing tradition. They're more of a Christmas thing.
Teddy dressing up as a nurse the ONE episode that the town gets foggy has to be a silent hill 2 reference it HAS TO BE 25:27
15:11 almost made me choke, I thought you were gonna describe Tammy with another c-word
@31:54 my school with biology only gave us earthworms. How much funding does Tina’s school have that they can afford baby bacon
I never even got to dissect anything 😢
Well done!!! These holiday episodes are so, so good!
Now, spend the next month compiling their Thanksgiving installments!
Nun of your business is a great Halloween costume and might be my favorite of the show lol
I thought this be a cool fact (didn’t watch the movie so I don’t know if this was mentioned in there) those horse costumes in apple gore-chard are actually Mari Lywd, a Welsh tradition that has some pretty interesting practices around it :D
I am really happy you’ve been doing more Bob’s Burgers content lately now that I’ve actually been going through the show myself.
would love another hour long video of all of the thanksgiving episodes!! They were a staple to rewatch every year when i was a kid
(It kinda reminds me of that Victorious episode where Tori ends up giving up too much blood)
And for The Pumpkinening, I just don't care for the "characters think someone is a murderer because of coincidences" trope
Bob’s Burgers, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas episodes never miss
0:04 I feel like the few episode we've gotten since the end of the writer strikes have just been amazing. Who would've thunk
Hot take, each bobs burgers halloween episode is always better than a tree house of horror episode
this is awesome!! thanks to the halloween section on hulu, I've been watching the Bob's Burgers halloween specials all of October practically on a loop! they're just so fun and I watch them all at least once as a yearly tradition 🎃
Thanks for the wholesome vibes, Mr. Duo Cellos♡
The hauntening is my favorite. It's such a wholesome episode.
Louise as Ryan Gosling in “Drive” always makes me laugh in the shoebox ghost episode
I have to say my favorite episode is the first Halloween. Gene screaming "IT'S HELEN HUNT" is hilarious. 😅
They always kill it on holiday episodes I love rewatching them every year. Billie is so well done by molly shannon
I was so disappointed last season when they weren't able to make a dedicated Halloween episode. But, I just consider the documentary style zombie episode of that season to be their *kind of* Halloween episode.
I hope you do one for their thanksgiving episodes. I personally believe that is the holiday that defines the series as I've not seen many other animated shows have a Thanksgiving episode so consistently almost each season
War Thunder: Please don't leak national secrets on our forums.
Thanks for this awesome video! Love all of your content!
Happy Halloween 🦇 🎃 love this ❤❤❤
