Very nice model of a great airplane! I grew up a few miles from the Philadelphia International Airport at the end of WWII, we spent a lot of time, my Dad and I, at the airport and loved watching the DC3s coming and going. So that particular plane is so familiar. I have a DC3 hanging over my HO layout. Great review, Terry!❤
Ahah! I think I have caught a glimpse of that airplane over your layout somewhere along the way. I saw quite a few DC3 airplanes as a lad. By then mostly backwoods or small freight. They still fly a few in the far north in this country.
@Terrys-Steam-and-Cobi They are an amazing airplane, to still be flying after so many years. The episode of "Band of Brothers", with the C47s on D-day, is my favorite.
A great review of one of my favourite aircraft. Cobi seemed to have crammed in a huge amount of detail like the three piece wing and astrodome. This seems reflected in the detail on the figures as well with the 101 Airborne Div patches, face cam and Mohican haircuts, what a wonderful tribute. I live just four miles from what was RAF Upottery where 98 C47s took off on 5 June 1944 carrying amongst others, Easy Company of the 506 Inf Bn, 101 Airborne Div as portrayed in a certain famous TV series. Nice one!
Thanks Steve! Yeah, these models are definitely a great tribute. “Astrodome”! That’s the word I was looking for but couldn’t remember. It was on the tip of my tongue but I couldn’t quite get it. Lol. 😝 Their figures really are accurate and well done in all their kits. They definitely do their homework. Is that airfield near you still in use?
@@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks Yes, not so much for aviation but for cars and bikes charging up and down at great speed. I have used all the runways in the past and mostly they are in a usable condition. Taking off from 24 as was gave me goose bumps the first time I did it. There will be and event this year to mark D Day+80, inc a couple of C47s
Im thinking having no glazing in the cockpit isnt a bad thing. Instead of shiny looking windows from some angles it looks like smoked glass. To me anyway.
That is a very nice model. I like early passenger airliners a lot. If they make a civilian version, maybe the Penncross railway could run an air shuttle service? Just a thought. Thanks for the video!
Ive been waiting on this one as its my favorite plane ever. I think the single central pilot is a bit distracting. I would omit it myself. Do you have a referral link to the website to buy it? Id like for you to get something for your effort making this video. Really sad story about the fate of the real Lilly Belle II.
Hi Everett. I don’t know where in the USA you order them from. I always promote my friend Craig’s business. I don’t get anything for promoting his website but as a friend he does give me his family discount on my orders. www.brickarmy.ca

@@johnlazar7582 nice. I may have to rewatch that movie.
Beautiful model Terry! Great looking fuselage for a brick model! 😎
Indeed Brian. I am very pleased with COBI.

@@watchfordpilot oh cool. No doubt you felt the depth of that heritage. Too bad I’ll miss the event.
Shes a real beauty. Another great review Terry.
Thanks Dave. 😊

Lol. Indeed. I could make up a logo for Pencross Air. 😊
Another great plane Terry.
It sure is Hunter.
Another significant aircraft, layout idea: transfer yard?
A transfer yard would allow for more locos…
Good looking plane
The DC-3 is one of my favs. So the military version was a must!
Still in use today
Yep. Awesome airplane.
do you think you're going to try to get the 1:48 scale hawker hurricane that's already out, or 1:48 scale hellcat when that comes out?
@@soggynugget6741 if I could afford it I’d have everything they produce. Lol. My train hobby takes up a lot. But yes, I want them.

I had not known the fate of the real Lilly Belle II. So I looked it up! Thanks for causing me to do that and to learn something new and interesting.
