Tori please consider uploading doing side quests on UA-cam. The side quests in this are much better than the first game because they really improve the characters, a lot.

Got a giggle out of you going all heart eyes over Sif when she's so annoyed with Atreus, and your excitement to get into a godly bar fight. Which you handled expertly, btw. And I know I joked about being in love with your look, but I'll be real, your personal tangent is why I actually love you. Looking at someone in that kind of destructive situation, and choosing to relate, to connect, and find compassion and empathy-even for a fictional character in all-too-real circumstances...you've got a good heart, Tofu. Never change.
I was right there with you during The Big Twist™, except my reaction came with a lot more cursing. Your little "Aw man, I really should've done more side missions" after that though was a dose of needed mood whiplash. lol The brief hunting trip is also _such_ a good character moment. They've come so far since the beginning of the last game. And Sindri's seen was just devastating. 😢
The Spark of the World is probably one of my favorite mythic/cosmic landscapes in...anything. It's so beautiful, the artists really went above and beyond. Gotta agree with you about Surtr, too. It's a really cool take on the character that feels weary and true, while also really standing out from the way he's showed up in other recent media. But look, there wasn't a thing on this earth that could've prepared me for you to _moan_ during the heart-stabbing scene, you fucjing goofball. We went from "no one make a joke" to literally _all_ the jokes in record time. 😂
And the return of "poke-poke-poke," my favorite battle cry lol
I really enjoyed and agreed with your analysis of Thor and the struggle of masculine expectation vs abuse. But you never miss with your character analysis, so that's no surprise. Overall, great video, Tofu. ❤

i find is really cool how kratos is comforting atreusin a way that would have also have helped younger kratos from the first games. in those games he was all alone and placed all the blame onto him self even if it seemed liked he deserved it. and i love how that was further explored in Valhalla.
its crazy how much new stuff you can learn from a game after youve finished it.

@QueenTofu - I hope everything is going well. All our sympathies in this hard time.
As ever, Tor, this was an absolute delight of an episode and a wonderful accompaniment to me finishing up some side stuff in the game myself. I feel like I say it every time, but you're just so charming, funny, and all around pleasant to watch and listen to. Your videos are always and without fail a great time.
The whole Tyr/Odin reveal and Brok death scene were just such a collective and unexpected gut punch. It was a moment I was equal parts excited for and dreading seeing your reaction to. They kind of touch on the idea that some of Tyr's behaviour makes more sense in hindsight after the reveal, and to that point, I think they struck a good balance where in retrospect it almost feels obvious but in the moment you never really felt you had reason to doubt him. I do wonder if there were tells along the way that might seem super obvious on a second playthrough when you just wouldn't have reason to pick up on them the first time around. Ugh, and Brok... It's honestly tough to say who I felt worse for between him and Sindri, but in the end, it was probably Sindri. I mean, he clearly already felt guilt over the circumstances of Brok's prior resurrection, and now he has to live with the knowledge that he basically cost his brother an afterlife because he couldn't accept losing him the first time. I probably should have foreseen something happening to at least one of them, but I was not expecting that level of tragedy to befall them.
I have thoughts about Odin in general as a villain in this game, but I'm going to save those for the eventual finale. Having finished the game, I don't want to accidentally colour your view of what's to come or even slightly spoil anything. Same with Thor, actually. Suffice to say, though, I love how they're both handled, both as individuals and in terms of their relationship. There's a great depth of humanity to their writing that I think adds tremendously to their roles as villains/antagonists.
As I said, Tor, this was a delightful video. The gameplay was exciting. The commentary was fun, engaging, and thoughtful. The editing was sharp and on point as always. And the look? I mean, you already know in detail what I think of this look, but I'll happily tell you again that - much like yourself - it's absolutely stunning. Thank you as always for this video, Tor. Ragnarok really has been one of my favourite series you've done so far. I think about the only thing I don't like about it, in fact, is knowing that we're nearing the end. But at least I know there's still some really good stuff ahead that I can't wait to see you react to.

I'm entertained with your videos. You have well made cosplays/costumes, jokes I never expect, long life-stories about personal stuff, if it is about disorder, or how much time and how you make your wigs and makeup, explanation for everything you doing, and I never had any further question, because you are always straith forward with what you are doing, always well explained. But you mentioned the word 'patriarchy', and I become insanily courious, to explain your thoughs, feelings and maybe your experience in that subject. So I tested my grubby hands on the keyboard with the hope I will ever have a full length explanation in the future somehow-someday. There was 1 a.m. when you finished, here is almost 4 a.m. when I finaly become entertained. Keep up the good work Milady!
Queen Tofu-garyen First of Her Name
That overly long and personal tangent is hitting me real hard right now. I wrote a big comment explaining all these things that are putting me in a negative headspace and erased it. I wish I could vent but there isn't much point online. I'll probably just go to bed early but please know that you helped me navigate these negative thoughts and feelings today.
I really love how they use Atreus, who is much more open and expressive, in a clever way to show us what's going on inside Kratos, who is MUCH more stohic and reserved.
They are different in many ways, but when it comes to things like family, emotions or anger management, they are very similar. In both games Atreus always worked perfectly as a writing tool to humanize Kratos. In fact I think his most powerful scenes were always in relation to Kratos. In this game he increasingly became his own character, which is the most teenager thing to do. Sometimes it worked well, some times not as much, but overall it worked fine for me. They managed to tell his story without taking away from Kratos', props to the writers for balancing that out.
But back to what I was trying to get at:
I find that short exchange about "hunting deer" so powerfull. In the first game we were just starting to get to know the new Kratos and we had no idea what to expect of him (other than his old bitter, vengefull, suicidal self). His "in the direction of deer" comment came off as a sarcastic joke, as he delivered it with his cold voice and stone face, staring at the burning remains of his wife.
But now with Atreus saying the exact same thing, it gives this scene a new context. Now what most people percieve as a joke at first becomes a powerfull and tragic character moment for Kratos. He wasn't making a snarky comment, although this is his kind of dry humor. As many of us probably already assumed, he was so hurt by the loss of the love of his life (for a second time), that his brain went into auto pilot as his mind was in shock trying to process Faye's death, while having to keep it together for his son.
He looks cold and indifferent on the outside, to us and to Atreus, but on the inside all of his sensations are numbed by the bomb that just went off in his family life.
I love this game series. Without notice God of War silently climbed up my favorite story game rankings, to now share the number one spot with Mass Effect.

Quick reminder that with the context of Thor’s attempt to quit drinking, many of Odins comments are directly undermining of his sobriety. Probably because it’s an act of self determination that makes Thor harder to control. Odin has said stuff like “your no fun anymore” “I liked you better as a drunk” which I get is the least of his crimes, but just imagine a father saying these things to a son who’s a recovering alcoholic, it’s very much emotional abuse.

Once the main story is over there will be extra side missions that weren't available before the end of the main story. One of those side missions is one called A Viking Funeral. That one gives you the "true" or "secret" ending to this game. Please make sure that you get that mission on your playthrough. Thank you.
I’m sure someone will mention it but anytime the characters reference Tyr the y in his name has a ‘ above it.
Any time Odin disguised as Tyr speaks the ‘ is missing. It’s subtle but there’s a ton of hints of his deception.

In the original Norse mythology Fenrir is the child of Loki and Angrboda.
And in a way Giant Fenrir is too. Angrboda told Atreus/Loki that he had a soul in his knife. Atreus/Loki figured out that the soul must've been Fenrir's and put that soul into Garm so that Fenrir could be reborn. It took both Atreus/Loki and Angrboda to make Giant Fenrir.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: You put more effort into your looks than I have anything in life, and I envy that. It helps make it a little easier, so thank you ❤While that might have been the longest tangent in a video in a little while, you've certainly had some good ones on stream in the not too distant past. A good Tofu tangent is always a treat.
The Tyr twist is so good because all the pieces are there, we just didn't put it together. There's even some subtle hints in stuff like the subtitles! Whenever Tyr (Odin) speaks, it doesn't have an accent on the y, but when talking about the real Týr it does. Crazy cool details that really add to it once you know. I'd been looking forward to you seeing this moment, and I have to admit that you handled it better than I had expected. Sindri's reaction is what gets me the most. Brocks story in this game is just so tragic, but excellently done. They really did a lot with his character.
You know, if you recruited that crab thing at 1:32:26 you'd be unstoppable against Odin. Just a thought.
I just want you to know that I did the puzzle at 1:38:30 without knowing that you could expand the bubbles. It was hell. That was the most painful thing in this game for me. I'm glad you are wiser than I. (though you did just have 2 wisdom teeth removed... so maybe we're equally wise now! That remains to be seen.)

I watched both my mother and sister battle alcohol addiction for decades. It finally killed mom in 2020 because she relapsed hard after my grandfather died. So the scene with Thrud and Thor hit closer to home than I expected a God of War game to hit.
But I also developed some weird OCD tendencies back when I was doing kidney dialysis throughout the 2010's, so 10 years or so. Along with the physiological changes like weight loss, lowered body temperature, fatigue and the occasional kidney stone which usually led to a trip to the ER because the pain was......ridiculous, I also developed some psychological side effects too, which apparently happens with people on dialysis. One, I had to close the toilet before entering and using a bathroom, and if it was open, had to walk over and close it before opening it again and using it, EVERY trip to the bathroom was like this and still is since that one stuck around. I was obsessed with my face feeling dirty, so I'd exfoliate several times a day, that feeling went away after receiving the transplant. Oral fixation was one, chewing on things like pens, toothpicks, etc, when before I never did anything like that, and it's also gone after the transplant. I genuinely felt gross all the time, internally like I was wrong, just disgusting, which again also went away after the transplant. I wonder if this is a common things with patients who are undergoing treatment for debilitating illnesses, probably have been studies done, I don't know, never really thought about all of it after I got cured, except the toilet thing, still have to close it before I officially "go" to the bathroom, Lol.
You talking about your skin picking compulsion is so relatable. Ive had severe psoriasis for nearly 20 years and I will just pick and pick at my skin but its never smooth. Parts of my body started healing a few months ago and yet the compulsion to smooth out my skin is still there. The brain is a very weird and fascinating organ

Then when Atreus says to Kratos " I thought we were his family too" and Kratos replies "We were" you can hear Sindri begin to sob in the background.
