So scary how her mom was just so happy to shove her daughter off on someone who is a stranger to her. Embarrassing her? Her daughter should be able to do what she wants not have to live a life she wants her daughter to live.
A friend of mine is Romanian. She moved to the US at age 7. When she was 24 she went back to Romania to visit family. Her aunts locked her in a room with a random creepy guy and his dad. He brought a "watermelon of love" and was told that they would be married. Her aunts told her she should take what she gets because she is too old for a typical bride. She has not returned to Romania lol.
Is she Romani(gypsy)? Because regular Romanians are... nothing like that- coming from a Romanian who was born and raised there for 20+ years. Given how a lot of foreigners seem to make rather strange associations and assumptions, I sort of want to get this out of the way: gypsies/Romani are but a minority in our country, with their own identity and customs.
When she becomes a nurse I hope she doesn’t financially help her self-centered mom and cut ties, her mom clearly did that for her own benefit. People like her mom just don’t change and she’s better not surrounding herself with that negativity.

Different cultures. I knew an Indian girl that had an arraigned marriage. She met him once before they were engaged. Maybe 2 or 3 times before married. I didn't understand it at first, to me she had too much going for her, but she has a family and still seems happy years later. I'm glad that this girl knew it wasn't for her, and was strong enough to stand up from herself though.
so for anyone curious, I did some digging, found her on FB to find out that she's married, or could be her boyfriend and she's a beautiful little girl (: shes seems to be very happy in her relationship. I couldn't find anything that says she became a nurse, but overall i think she is doing just fine!
The mother is trash. You would think that she would be proud that her daughter wants to become a nurse. It’s great that she stood up to her mother. I hope that she attended college. You guys were hilarious as usual.
I don't know anything about this man but from my personal experience I worked with 16 year olds that looked 30 due to drug use, and I also watched a friend go from looking like a healthy vibrant young man in this young 20s to seriously looking 50 years old after only a couple years using methamphetamine. It was very sad. He passed away due to that lifestyle.
why is all the gypsy wedding episodes always have a single or divorced mom trying to force their daughters to marry just like they did, cause honestly if it worked so well for you ...and your single now why do it to your kid
That's simple psychology. When they would admit how messed up this way of living and pressuring kids into marriage is, they would also admit that their own path wasn't their choice, but merely brainwashing. So they have no other choice but to continue the tradition if they don't want to be thrown into a big crisis.

I understand that its Gypsy culture/tradition to get married and not go to school, and be a stereotypical house wife, but seeing a girl with her own dreams and opinions and visions is so heartwarming to me. It’s nice that she’s thinking for herself
As a house wife I find this offensive. I still have my own dreams and opinions

The mom will never be happy if the female has an education or independence. They have to be oppressed.
@Alfonso Razo you can go to trade school for that and get a scholarship in school. That's what I did but I changed my mind about it lol. Plus she can sign up for financial aid
Alfonso Razo you’re not funny. She’s paying for it herself. Not everyone is privileged enough like you to have their parents pay for their college. That’s why loans exist.

Mom was on that guerrilla warfare
Don't the men pay the mothers for marrying off their child to them?
Mom just scared she'll have to help pay for college.

Different cultures. I knew an Indian girl that had an arraigned marriage. She met him once before they were engaged. Maybe 2 or 3 times before married. why is all the gypsy wedding episodes always have a single or divorced mom trying to force their daughters to marry just like they did, cause honestly if it worked so well for you ...and your single now why do it to your kid
That's simple psychology. When they would admit how messed up this way of living and pressuring kids into marriage is, they would also admit that their own path wasn't their choice, but merely brainwashing. So they have no other choice but to continue the tradition if they don't want to be thrown into a big crisis.
