Wall of text below because Im not gonna respond to every individual comment related to this
Editing my previous comment bc of the compensation five star thing. First of all: good on Kuro for doing that, it will make the new player experience better, and that does help balance out many of the issues people have had in the game.
It also gives less reason to spend money right now, since that is more characters to have fun with during the game's start. Theyve also committed to fixing some things in the game. I hope they remain open to tweaking the game to make the player experience better (though I don't want them to be too aggressive with changes; they need to properly test whether or not some ideas make sense and not blindly follow a vocal minority).
So yeah, that IS more generous compared to Hoyo with Genshin and how they compensate for issues. But again, as with the actual gacha systems in the game, that is only if you compare on a superficial level. In the specific context of compensation 'generosity', Genshin has never had the scale of issues compared to the issues WuWa has had at launch, and WuWa has really hurt their first impressions to a lot of players launching in the state they have. (Genshin also released at a time that benefited it heavily, WuWa has to fight an uphill battle in the open-world RPG gacha space) Hence necessitating Kuro giving out a free five star to earn some good-will.
It IS good they did that, but calling it generous is still a bit silly by nature of this is a gacha game dev company doing damage control. They are not being your "bro."
They are a company, their goal is to make money. This was a smart play on their part to try to keep some of their potential playerbase that they may have turned off due to whatever issues.
I'm sure they have plenty of individuals at the company passionate about the gameplay experience (which is evident by the fantastic combat experience, imo), but the entire organization has a goal to make money.
That's why this is a gacha game--they want to make money, and a lot of it.
Generousity is not a factor for Kuro games as to whether or not they decided to give the players a free five star, and if you think them doing so has invalidated anything I said in the video, you've missed the entire point I have been trying to make.
It is genuinely funny seeing people in my comments doing exactly the thing I satirized this video when saying "wow Target is so much more generous because they give 80 targetbucks"

Bro let me help you out understand something … They are more generous than the avg gacha company and wuwa atm is definitely more generous than most other gacha games. All gacha companies are shitty marketers that want your money. These 2 statements can coexist, theres no need to be too emotional about it, they are definitely more generous but also fuck them because capitalism, it is not that deep. People are just happy to have more rewards than hoyo games let them be happy about it.
Hop off the dick of genshin, just accept this game is doing the bare minimum for their player base and to make them stick with your game

@Solunerra it's not a race, just having them to lvl eventually means you have more options to play with over the course of your time with the game.
Also the weapon banners can drop 4 star characters, more rarely than the actual Character banners though. I just pulled the weapon banner because I like the Swords asthetic and it is a good weapon.
The droprates are better than genshin by a few % and it takes 10 less pulls, so you can get more.

That's not generosity. That's scaling the compensation due to the fact that they are trying to do damage control on their launch. The initial launch of a game is super important, and they're clearly in damage control mode and trying to entice players who were just trying it out and werent already committed to playing long term to stick around in spite of the launch issues. The only real positive here is now they've set a precedent for being "more generous", which might make them feel forced to give a similar level of compensation for future issues.

@@schmooze6360 That's valid but can also be attributed to damage control of a game on launch. It's also somewhat dependent on the issue a game experiences. Sometimes it just can't be fixed that quickly. I still think that attributing that to generosity is a bit too optimistic. Either way, whatever their motives, its a win for players in this case.

Weapon banner should NOT exist is my general opinion, so yes you are kinda correct, but you also seem to have missed my overall point that one being is pointless to call it more generous because there are many other factors to consider in a comparison between the two gacha systems. The weapon being guaranteed is basically just a marketing gimmick for this game to make people feel like its better, when it reality its either still a void made for people to throw wishes away into (aka total bait because it doesnt make enough difference to justify getting), or it will end up making so much difference that it feels necessary to get a weapon, which just functionally increases the cost to make getting 5 star characters feel good to use.
If I were to design a gacha game that _actually_ tried to innovate on that gacha system side of things, and I felt I needed to have a weapon banner, Id make it so there is some system in game that by playing a character for, say, 3 months just gets you their signature weapon. Eg a long term incentivization/reward structure for playing/leveling/investing in a limited 5 star unit. This way you can design every five star weapon knowing players CAN get the weapon. The weapon banner would then exist for one thing only: for impatient people. So anyone who doesnt want to wait three months to earn the weapon can just wish for it instead. Id consider that the ideal win-win where a weapon banner can exist for the gacha dev to make some money, and they can design the weapons to be kinda necessary, but there is still a long mechanism incentivizing long term play allowing any player to get the best weapon for their favorite character

@@SolunerraJust play Reverse 1999 then. No weapon banners at all, only characters. You get weapons from playing the game normally. Honestly, R1999 is easily top tier when it comes to a truely generous gacha system. 70 pity till guranteed 6 star (which is a 5 star for you Genshin/HSR players), over a 1% chance at getting a 6 star, limited characters move to standard pool after 2 patches pass since their release (& standard characters have rotating banners alongside limited banners too). The list goes on. Truely an awesome game.

i agree with your point about them potentially making weapons necessary for characters to preform well (9:30), but we've seen the same happen in genshin also especially recently - just with constellations instead. for example, wriothesley and hu tao (only ones i remember off the top of my head), their c1's basically complete/fix their kits. they can 100% still do fine without the c1, but it definitely makes them a LOT easier to play. i imagine that's how the weapons in this game will probably work to compare/contrast between them. (sorry if this doesnt make sense, i am very tired rn)
Yeah I know what you mean. In general, my concern is that many limited 5 stars will end up really wanting their signature weapon in WuWa, rather than one off instances of it being important. There are specific cases in Genshin where I can agree with that sentiment, particularly in how they feel to play. But while I think Hoyo has been making early constellations slightly stronger lately (to bait people spending money), how much it actually feels necessary is quite rare. Some people think Neuvi C1 is necessary, but Im of the opinion that his need for a defensive unit giving him interruption resistance is one of the things that balances his strengths, as an example. Hoyo has gotten really good at making people feel like they need C1, but there are enough things in the game that almost always it isnt necessary. Wrio is a weird one where it is kinda odd they made him HP negative at C0, and I dunno what they were thinking there, but even with Hu Tao, who I think shouldve had her C1 in her base kit, has gotten options such as Cloud Retainer that makes C0 plunge Hu Tao stronger than C1 Tao (see Zajef cloud retainer prerelease, iirc he did the number breakdowns showing that). Its these layers of interaction between different characters that make it so weapons/constellations are not necessary in Genshin, even when some constellations do feel really really pushed.
When it comes to WuWa, there is little character interactivity in kits. Only very minor stuff like "this character gives 10% glacio dmg to teammates." The game just isnt made to be that way, mechanically. Which is fine at a baseline, I am enjoying WuWas combat a lot for how nice it feels in general, and it is quite distinct from Genshin to me. So this ultimately means that a characters damage performance seems to be more reliant on their base scalings and things in WuWa, rather than having the ability to deal dmg through nuanced interaction between other characters. Each characters kit in WuWa is much more its own distinct thing unreliant on anything else. Hence my worry about signature weapons in the future ending up being what some characters become reliant on. But I hope Im wrong of course. Only time will tell
@@Solunerra very fair points actually, completely forgot that plunge hu tao with cloud retainer is good, my bad. kuro typically (from what i’ve heard) are pretty good developers and tend to listen to their players, so i’m hoping they’ll hear the concerns of weapons being a need rather than a want and find a way to resolve that before it does become a problem. though considering it’s a single player game (for the most part), signature weapons probably won’t be too necessary, it’ll just come down to whether you can clear stuff quick enough. either way, i’m very excited to see how this game turns out even if i don’t agree with some choices they make in the future regarding characters and their weapons

I’m also a person who’s generally pretty damn lucky in gacha games and I AM wondering if the rates were tampered with on launch. Got Jianxin on my 6th pull, then her w1 shortly after (on the beginner’s banner), THEN guaranteed Lingyang within 20 pulls while managing to snag copies of the 4*s I wanted
Of course, anecdote tells me that there are lots of unlucky players too 😅 I’m curious about potential data we have (if any) on pulls so far!
Hard agree about people overhyping Kuro’s generosity. While I DO think they’ve been much more thoughtful than the average gacha company (and the compensation feels great), it is most definitely a curated move on the company’s part to hook new players in as much as they can, especially considering that the combat is greatly favored over the story content. Kuro is an underdog here - they don’t have much to lose, so of COURSE it’s in their best interest to be as generous to their playerbase as they can so that they seem like the “good guys” in the gacha world. Getting all of these rewards as well as the selector does feel inherently good and I’m not saying it’s all just manipulation, but I do think people are failing to see that this is still a company that needs to make a profit… and oftentimes the incentive to be so kind to players IS just that: profit

Yeah I agree on this take, but at the same time, I don't think it's crazy or bad. If games don't make a profit, they just die off into early EOS so it's probably in everyone's best interest that they do turn a profit. But also glad to see that a free 5star Selector isn't enough to bankrupt a company like certain Gacha players loved claiming. I think kuro is striking a decent balance. Hopefully the pgr generosity rubs off more on this game.
On my first day of playing I didn’t immediately wish on the 50 pity starter banner. I spent $45 hoping to get ONE Danjin. Again, $45 later, I got her. But before that, I got 3 Mortefis in 1 10 pull and by the end of DAY 1 of playing I got him to C6 or what ever constellations are called in this game.
For me, it's the opposite lol. I just wanted one mortefi and got 3 of her and other random 4 stars instead

Between begginer banner, 5 star guaranteed banner, and the free 5 star we get tomorrow, we get 3 standards and can save pulls for the limited.
Well think of it this way, profitable games tend to get more support, also they have made a decently generous apology for said technical issues.
Getting a unit selector for a 3rd guaranteed 5 Star after the beginner banners is hopefully indicative of their hopes for the game.

For 4 stars (in any Gatcha) I feel like they should always be in a shop like the starglitter exchange where for every 90-ish pulls you should have enough currency to buy a copy. No rotations or anything either. Maybe they aren't added until a patch after release but that's it.
If you don't know, if you set your video format on OBS to .mkv then you won't lose the recording if OBS crashes. You just have to remux the file to an .mp4 after recording.
I agree that it seems like this game will encourage you to grab characters signature weapons in addition to them. I don't really mind this, but I do worry that dupes might also be encouraged too. Buying dupes in the shop seems to be a system to make things easier for whales (similar to how Genshin's Epitomized Path is more of a QoL for whales than f2p/low spenders) because you need to do a lot of pulls to get enough currency to afford a dupe let alone 2. I'm happy to save for a character and their weapon but if I also need 2 more dupes for them to function that's gonna feel bad.
I'm liking this game a lot but it's fine and good to keep in mind that it is a gacha that's designed to get you spending in the end. We can enjoy the rewards without taking them for granted

Lots of the current comments have been a bit unfun to read seeing people think Im just being "bitter" and hating on the game when Im just trying to encourage people to think differently about gacha games is all lol.
My rates have been rubbish. I hit pity on the 50 banner and thats the only 5* ive gotten so far. Ive only received 1x new 4* character, everything else has been dupes of starters or 4* weapons (yet no 4* weapon for my Sephiroth)
Jiyan is very fun for me at least. great for crowd control and fun to toss enemy's around with! he's like a mix of kazuha and Xiao in my mind
There was a glitch on epic games where you could've gotten the 99 usd pack, or any top-up at that matter for 30 rubles, aka ~33 cents. Shit was funny, it got patched though, and those who had abused it are 99.9% getting their accounts reverted. (You could've gotten a C6R5 character for like 4 dollars)
i have also gotten verina on 20 pity on the novice banner and jianxin on 30 pity on the beginner select banner. idk lol. the base rate is 0.8% but that shouldn't be so much of a big difference as to give you those absolutely disgusting rolls (i'm happy for you and i shouldn't be complaining because of my own rolls.. but wtf)
18:08 also, yeah, people have discovered that 5 stars actually eat the 4 star pity. it doesn't give you the 4 star immediately after the 5 star like in genshin/star rail if you had gotten a 5 star where the 4 star was supposed to be

Wuthering waves did improve on the bp. Remember having to do 100 local specialties for the weekly even they realized how awful that was. Wuwa also only asks for 5 tacit fields (artifact domains) instead of 20 lay lines which almost nobody does
My first 10 pull on the limited character banner was a 5 star, did I win the 50/50? No. Was it still insane? Yep.

just now rewatching this video. did you know when pulling a banner the words " Jiyan up!" actually mean you get more of him?
I got Encore first ten pull on beginner banner, then lost 50/50 to Yingyang on Jiyan's banner at 30 pity, but managed to snipe him at another 30 pity. And I'm 1 or 2 ten pulls away from getting Verina. And with the selector coming, gonna get Calcharo or h/e you spell his name. :D Great start.
It is better to reroll often and early than swiping , managed to get Jiyan with the free 20 pulls and then i got Verina and Encore with the other free 20 pulls from mail, then i picked up Calcharo and now i got all my bases covered and resources left to guarantee me at least two banner characters in the future by just playing the game. Reroll a few accounts , get the freebies and if all goes to hell in the future at least you have a fallback plan that just need some grinding and light maintenance to keep ready.
RNG is RNG but i basicly got 200 $ + for free by just using 25 min of my time to try a reroll and got lucky.
The thing I've noticed is that 90% of ppl get things early and in good amounts (talking abt 4 stars) but never what they actually want
My experience is different - I am sure it is common for the most of players and got a 5* on novice banner at 50 (limit) and didn't get any 5* from the second novice banner.
Tried 10 pull on limited banner and also didn't get any character (just a 4* weapon :/ )
My friend got 2 5* from novice banners in about 50-60 pulls, and didn't try on limited, because got Calcharo and Verina, so what's the point now?

i literally got jiyan in a few pulls and i got verina early from the beginner banner...how am I so lucky in any game BESIDES genshin, i swear i did not win a single 50/50 in genshin for over a year. jiyan is so good and fun to play he's been shredding through all the enemies. I'm also lucky because i literally have not had any performance issues with this game. i swear this game randomly decides who it wants to work perfectly for and who it will barely run for.
I just used the free pulls and got jiyan, the dancing guy on beginners banner and selected calchario I just use whoever felt the best in whatever team and just enjoy it.

Nah you just got insanely lucky. Took me 12 rerolls to get an account with two 5-stars in 50 wishes, and one of them was the terrible dancing boy.

@O-R-I-G-I-N I used abit of asterite on that select banner since I'm uninterested in any of the limmited units coming for now, since I got my verina I'm now settled to save for atleast afew months so I'll get them back as time goes by, tho yea they are pretty generous as there's alot of ways to get the summon currency

I got Jiyan with 35 pulls and 3 Danjins. I've been rolling on Jiyan's banner with every single resource I've obtained and I'm under 20 union level.

I think no one thinks that wuwa is more generous with their pity system except weapon banners but if you want to start the game now you get a complete 5 star loadout for free. And the added consistency in the weapon banners (if carried on in the future) is way better. Gacha will always be predatory though.

I understand where you're coming from, you made some fair points but at the end of the say it's all speculation. I'm not too worried since Kuro is trying to tap into the Genshin Impact market and the reason why Genshin is so popular is a lot of factors, one being powercreep is nonexistent/ being incredibly slow and f2p can clear endgame.
Or at least that's what I hope, I already see Kuro walking in Hoyo's footsteps with Verina(Bennett) and you can get her easily since they gave us 2 free five stars of our choice.
I did 2 pulls on the standard weapon banner. The first time i got the 5 star weapon and a 4 star weapon. The 2nd time i got 4 4 star characters. Don't waste your pulls on the character banners.

I've gone to hard pity on every banner I've pulled so far so watching someone get so lucky while complaining the whole time was actually super frustrating.
And super painful ;'( ...like.. am I playing the same game? I've spent so much though hard pity that I don't even have enough for signature weapon... its so depressing...
So I sat through the rants at the end... And I got to say.... Wuthering Waves is indeed more generous than many gacha games. Now, When we say "Generous", it could mean a variety of things. I see it more generous overall, gacha included. The weapon banner being guaranteed that you called "boring" is one aspect of them being generous not to also forget, you can select which weapon you want to pull towards. In many open world and action gacha games that I played, its a 50/50 chance for the rate up, or a chance to get a whole other set of nonsense that just so happens to be in the same bag as the rate up. I don't know how many gacha games you've played and what games they were, but after playing a long slew of gacha games over the last 10-12 years of my life, I can say, this game is fairly generous. Now, im not sure what technical issues you guys are having. In fact, im not seeing the issues we're even getting "compensated" for. and above all, outside of those compensations, theyve been sending thank you gifts which also included a free 5 star selector. Perhaps I havent played enough gacha games in my life time, but I havent seen a game that gives that around its launch not to mention the beginner banners and all the free draws to start you off. Even refilling stamina in this game is cheaper than its many counterparts. Each gacha game has its economy and pricing, you're right. However, the pricing in those games also vary based on what the game has to offer and the quality of its content. The quality of Genshin, Honkai impact, Wuthering waves and many other open worlds out there has a similar pricing model for the quality they give. As such, its fair to compare the game's economy to the others. And given what you've got for 201, i'd say you got your money's worth vs what you would have got in other games, at least in my opinion. Cause if i got all that for 201, id be satisfied given what ive suffered in many other gachas.

Got a 5 star in my first 10 pull in the limited banner. Didn’t win the 50/50 but I dont mind that I lost to the monk lady
i think they did increase the rates because i and many other people on twitter got double five star in the first ten pull on novice banner
I made a poll to see how many people have gotten earlies, so we shall see what that shows. I will have to do some math to see how much it matches reality with estimated amounts of wishes for 2 days of player (my guess is about 100 for an average player who has played a BUNCH the last two days)

Bro that insane luck I made two accounts and both... Both made me go all the way to pity just to get a random 5 star character, it was calchoro and verina, calchoro made me get 2 extra characters while in the verina pull I didn't get jack zhit but her 🤣😂
I live in turkey, the recommended server for me is europe for both hoyo games and WuWa. I selected american servers for genshin and hsr because most of my friends were on that server. However i selected the european server on WuWa. I have worse ping on WuWa... also my pc is laggy as fuck
Like i had no problems with my pc before downloading WuWa but now even my other games are lagging
I don’t think they will make weapons mandatory for characters just because they are easy to get, they manage weapons in their other game (pgr) really well, no weapon is a MUST to make the character work.

Yeah I doubt they did its just that I feel the need to question things when something really statistically unlikely (whether it be “good” or “bad” luck perception wise) happens. Its not great to just assume “Yes I conveniently just randomly happened to be in the .01%”

Tbh, I love how wuthering waves pulling looks, but I kinda wished that the pulling musis is less repetitive :/ (after the 20th time, I feel like people would get tired of hearing that music, where it’s the same pulling animation and music every time their is a pull, no matter 4 or 5.)
Besides that, and the lag issues, I don’t really have any big issues with the game, and I hope this game will get better, since if we ignore the bugs, their is so much potential this game can accomplish.

DOES thos game have a soft pity though? ive seen people getting 5* on literally any pity but ive also seen a guy going to 80 or almost 80, which is extremely unlikely if you have a soft pity like in genshin on hsr so im confused
just out of curiosity why is it you think you will get bored of the game within 3 months? obviously every game isn't for every person so it could be as simple as yk you not liking the gameplay that much. and with what you said obviously i don't think this game will take over genshin i think they both have quite different targeted audiences if im being honest but still somewhat overlapping. i also agree with what you have said about a lot of the things in the game being "generous" because we really can't tell if it is generous yet but it seems nice. in my op the one thing that makes me think the game will do at least somewhat well is the active effort in trying to fix the issues and improve the game. but in the end i will play it because im enjoying playing it the combat is dun. (your pulls make me cry)
