For the U.S. and I assume Canada, there is consumption taxes on an anime goods, plushies, etc. and also import tax as well. That's why anime goods are more pricier in the U.S. than Japan.
I know this is super super old but my favorite anime is Dragon Ball Z. It's how my husband and I connected in 2004 when we were 14. And we now have our daughter watching Dragon Ball Super with us. My second favorite is the orginial Sailor Moon. I am so old school.

I love that animate location. I've been there a handful of times. The fifth floor also has an animate cafe! Right around the courner from there is Kotobukiya which was also an AMAZING place with so many good finds. I found a lot of out of print merch there. Easily my two favorite places for shopping for anime related goods in Akihabara!
