- The government has brought a Bill to include four communities in the list of Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Jammu and Kashmir: “Gadda Brahmin”, “Koli”, “Paddari Tribe”, and “Pahari Ethnic Group”.
The Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Tribes Order (Amendment) Bill, 2023 is one of the four Bills relating to the Union Territory that were introduced in Lok Sabha on July 26.

Yadav community of UP, BIHAR, HARYANA, MP are very well of class then also OBC reservation.

Pahari people have suffered from last 45 years... Life of Pahari people is very difficult in hilly areas... Pahari people children and students face lots of up and downs on the daily basis. They have to walk by foot on average 6 to 7 kms daily to reach schools ( mostly by walking steep elevations) . No water on hill tops they travel down the hills to collect water.... Mostly they depend on cattle and agriculture... Pahari people genuinely deserve ST Status.
Both pahari and gujjar people live at the same place and neighbours of each other then why injustice with pahari people..... pahari deserve st status.

Very far flung area, people lives in hills, most of Rajput Hindus of that region and no tarmac ( pakki) road is there, generally it takes whole day to reach village through walk .. My office colleague lives there and i hv been there and truly it's , far away from global world.. Today he will be happy to get ST status..
I m a PhD Reserach scholar working on Pahari community . U miscalculated Gujjar They are Muslim in J&K there is no heterogeneity among Gujjar The Only Heterogenious Community and secular community in J&K is PAHARI and secondly Paharis are not only living in Poonch and Rajouri but also major proportion of Paharis Living in Baramulla and Kupwara district.

Beautifully explained, most important issue/Pahari people doesn’t deserve ST status, they have different ethnicity belonging to Upper castes like Mughals, Rajputs, syeds, Mirza, JArals, Malik, Brahmins, verma, Sharma, MAHAJANs etc highly elite classes whose children are studying in foreign countries, if this Bill will passed it will the murder of Indian constitution, whole Indian Tribes will be brutally effected.
