Many thanks for commenting! I agree that the nuances help make the piece come alive. I frequently feel challenged to hold things together and not 'overpower' a track. As a result, I often end up at the opposite end, in a spot where one needs to listen very closely to recognize the little changes. My goal is to find the thin line in between. In the tune here, a good part of the flow is carried by the randomization of the spectral synths using the bitshifter plus slew limiter.
@@Alphagem-O What's your writing process like? How long does it take you to write something like this? Usually when I attempt to write something with ambience like this, I tend to hyper focus on specific details, write something super repetitive, and give up and just get angry with myself.
I am still a beginner, so my writing process would probably be described best as 'meandering' and 'experimenting'. This track took a couple of sessions, with a good amount of doubt and a number of learnings on the way. I usually have a desired mood or feeling in mind and try to work toward that by building voice after voice. Sometimes I also pick up happy accidents. Range-limited, subtle randomization of gates, triggers and CVs is a good antidot for repetitiveness.
Absolutely beautiful! I guess YT recommended this video to me because I watched a remake of J Dilla's Don't cry. This is all modular synths, right? Sorry, don't know much about music production. Thank you!
Thank you, happy you like it! Yes, it's all modular, using a software called VCV Rack. Hardware modular synths can become expensive rather quickly, so this free software is a wonderful way to enter the game.
youtube algorithm is too good
Like that!
This is insanely good.
Thank you, much appreciate your comment!
This made me look at the world differently, just for a while. Listening to this in the car looking out at an ever moving complex world.
Thank you for saying this! Changing perspectives is more than I could ever dream of.
This is amazing. There's so many little nuances in the harmonies and in the mix. I wish i could write something this pretty

Thank you so much! Happy you like it.
this one is very cool
Thank you much! It was a fun exercise to allow for only one plugin beside native VCV.

Thank you so much!
