If the ring gear fits the pinion gear properly there’s not a lot of room between the teeth for a lot of grease; just a thin layer. What most professional retailers complain about is the quality of the grease coming stock in these machine since most are made in China and the grease often looks like plain Vasoline or very pale thin grease. There are greases available designed for gearboxes such as Stihls gearbox grease for lawn tools which are really designed for a gearbox. However any high quality automotive grease will be better than most of the original greases except in a few name brand brands. For instance Griots garage states that their polishers are all using a high end Mobil grease selected for use in this kind of tool

Too much grease in your gearbox. That’s why it’s stopping so fast. The housing does not need to be full to the top. You actually had grease squeezing out as you tightened the hosing basket on the machine. Only should fill it to where as you put the top on the bevel gear gets some grease on the teeth.

@Improved Garage : Did you also try the "Grease Mod" on the LE T4000 ... and if ... what are the results ? Thanks in advance ! :)

I didn’t yet, I will at some point, but want to get some more hours on the machine before I modify it.
I have heard from others that did and they said the change was worth it.

@@improvedgarage Nice to hear that. ... always good to be able to get some benefit out of an easy mod ... I think I'll also do it like you ... just give it some more hours before modding it.

Did it reduce vibration? Vibration and weight are the only problems with the Milwaukee.

maybe a little bit? I noticed the biggest difference with sound.

Milwaukee specs a "Y" grease. From what I could tell, it is a NGLI #1 grease. I am going to swap to a Schaeffer's 219 SynForce Green that is a NGLI #1 spec that has the following bullet points on their product data sheet: "protection against shock loading that protects and cushions against impact, vibration, stress and chatter during heavy loads and start-stop operations"... AND "ability to retain its greaselike consistency and remain in the bearings during periods of heat, high shock loading, extreme pressures, and severe mechanical action". It also has a "moly" component: "Synthesized Moly which plates itself to metal surfaces of the bearings. Once plated, Synthesized Moly forms a long lasting lubricant film that further reduces friction and wear, especially during periods of high shock loads, vibration and extreme pressure". The specs of this grease is designed for Extra Tak (to stick to the gears) instead of the Low Tak that is targeted for wheel bearings, like the popular RED grease options that many people are recommending.

Any idea how much grease you used, or how did you know when you re-packed it "enough"? Looking for a certain amount on the teeth? Thanks!

i used alot, but i dont know the exact amount.
Basically i added it to the point that i couldn't put the top on because there was too much inside, and then I pulled out like 1 teaspoon of it and went from there. i would guess its about half the bottle.

Milwaukee has an excellent parts manual document that clearly shows the amount AND location of the grease required. From that document: Place 20±2.0 grams of grease in the Gear Case cavity, around the Pinion and above and below the Bevel Gear. Place a heavy coating of grease to the teeth of the Bevel Gear and to the teeth of the Pinion Gear
      on the Rotor Assembly #52.
