They heard the voice
Acts 9:7, NASB, “And the men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice, but seeing no one.”
Acts 9:7, NIV, “The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone.”
Acts 9:7, KJV, “And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man”
They did not hear the voice
Acts 22:9, KJV, “And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.”
Acts 22:9, NASB, “And those who were with me beheld the light, to be sure, but did not understand the voice of the One who was speaking to me.”
Acts 22:9, NIV, “My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was speaking to me.”
This is an interesting difficulty to tackle.
As you can see from the different translations above, an attempt has been made to harmonize the difficulty by translating Acts 22:9 as “did not understand the voice,”
(NASB & NIV) where the KJV states
“… they heard not the voice..”
Literally, the Greek in 22:9 says, “they did not hear the sound.”
So, did they or did they not hear the sound?
Various explanations have been offered but the most common is summed up in the following quotes.
“Literally, that clause in 22:9 may be translated,
“They did not hear the sound.”
The NIV correctly translates the verse, because the verb “to hear” with the genitive case may mean “to hear a sound” and with the accusative case “to hear with understanding.”
The genitive case is employed in 9:7, and the accusative is used in 22:9. So the travelers with Saul heard the sound (9:7) but did not understand what Christ said (22:9).”
Thus in Acts 9:7, “hearing the voice,” the noun “voice” is in the partitive genitive case [i.e., hearing (something) of], whereas in 22:9,
“they heard not the voice,”
the construction is with the accusative.
This removes the idea of any contradiction.
The former indicates a hearing of the sound, the latter indicates the meaning or message of the voice (this they did not hear).
“The former denotes the sensational perception, the latter (the accusative case) the thing perceived.

It is widely known that the New Testament must have been written before 70 AD, as there was no mention of the destruction of the Temple, which Jesus had prophesied would happen. It was such a huge event there is no way there would not of been several accounts of it. Therefor the NT was written within 70 years of his death.
***** No scholar - only fundamentalists - date Mark earlier than 60-70 AD with the rest following decades later. Speaking of big events, Mark says Jesus fed 9,000 people - 1/4 of Jerusalem. In an era marked by starvation this would have spread throughout the empire. Philo of Alexandria, the Jewish historian & relative of Pilate would have mentioned it in the nearly 1 million words he left. He would have mentioned bodies rising from graves and reports that a man floated to "heaven" in front of hundreds. He writes of numerous court intrigues but not one word of any trial. It's odd that he writes of John the Baptist but not a word of Jesus, disciples or any movement.

2nd - the absence of any report from Philo in reference of Jesus doesn't counteract the direct reports of other non Christian sources such as Josephus, The Talmud, Lucian of Samosata, Tacitus and Pliny the Younger. All of these were opponents of the Christian faith yet confirm not only his existence but the accuracy of the Biblical account.
There is well accepted overwhelming evidence that the NT is an accurate historical document which most educated people accept.

The "direct reports" are snippets about the movement or its founder. Not one word confirms a Gospel story. Why not use Paul as a source? lol Because other than the Passion hymn of Corinthians he confirms not a single Gospel tale - family, virgin birth, baptism, trial, miracle, teaching or event.
The Gospels are not history but how folks saw Jesus over time. The evolution from Mark (J warns not to disclose his identity) to John (J makes long, literary speeches about himself) reflects the theological changes over time.

Christianity is a faith not a science. I do believe that it is intellectually defensible and that the character of Jesus Christ as described by the NT has all the attributes one would expect of the Messiah. However we all have freedom to choose for ourselves. For those truly searching for God I believe he will reveal himself. For others, just up for a good argument.... not so sure?

A divine Messiah was never expected because human deities were the cornerstone of pagan religions and considered blasphemous. (Just as sex between gods and humans was.) How do you know the gospel writers were inspired? Mark, in particular, looks just like the plot of Homer's Oddessy. The other gospel writers just added onto Mark. You know Mark originally ended at 16:8 right? Everything after that was added on much later, by a different author.

Paul didn't know that what he was writing would be included with the ancient Hebrew canons (Old Testament) and the Gospel of Christ(New Testament). Paul wrote LETTERS(mostly from prison charged with herecy and blasphemy in the courts of man-made laws) to the new churches he founded by the message of Christ, founded by believers in various Jewish and Gentile regions.They needed a leader and his letters gave instruction how to live life thanking praising glorifying God. He died a martyr brutally.

The vocabulary and style of each of these authors was distinct from the vocabulary and style of Paul in his letters to 10 entities:Romans, Corinthians,Galatians,Ephesians,Philippians,Colossians,Thessalonians,Timothy,Titus and Philemon.The vocabulary and style used in the Letter to the Hebrews is markedly different from these 10 letters. So the Catholic Church doesn't acknowledge that the Letter to Hebrews was written by Paul. Any reading from this letter used in liturgical service is acknowledged as, " A reading from the letter to the Hebrews".
I have heard many of Sheikh Yasin's sermons.
