I'm glad Google is implementing tools for developers on ChromeOS. It was really missing out on a huge part of the market because of how limited it was previously.
I understand why the system was slimmed down and restricted but yeah i don't understand why they didn't just base chromeOS off of debian instead of gentoo to have a ton of compatibility right out of the box.
how do i deal with the error where it says "cannot find module" whenever i enter nvm run build on nodejs? also, I changed the code a little cuz somewhat the kernel responded error when i typed npm run build.
Hi, sorry if I bother you, I wanted to ask you something, that is, how can I install an APK on an Asus Chromebit that has never received the Playstore?
I had an issue with the editor of visual studio code under chrome os, but unfortunately chrome os is not supported by VSC, so my issue got closed and my editor problem remains.
Is the issue only occuring in Chrome OS though? I suspect, the issue could be in Linux in general. And you could raise the issue again after testing in Linux.
the samsung chromebook pro which is in the opening slide with all the other devices at 0:44 doesn't support linux mode in chromeos. Apparently no skylake devices are supported.
Does anybody know how to install Flutter on a Chromebook. There arent any tutorials on UA-cam and Ive followed step-by-step instructions online nothing is panning out.
I dont care what others say I bought recently a lenovo duet Chromebook just because i wanted a tablet and an ipad can't do that so that sold me its nice to have a sketch device for code ideas on the go
This is hilarious. What they managed to do was, to take a browser which could run INSIDE LINUX, and turned it into a browser that can run Linux INSIDE THE BROWSER. Well done Google, well done.
No. Contrary to popular belief, ChromiumOS isn't just Chromium. It's actually a spin of Gentoo that now is so modified it doesn't resemble Gentoo at all. Crostini is a method of running third party software from within an LXC container, which doesn't provide any risk to the actual components in Chrome OS for malicious tampering or otherwise. If you want to mock them, simply say that they took Linux.. removed the package manager and restricted everything that made it Linux, and then had you run Linux from inside Linux. Instead of just running Linux. See? It's easier to mock them without being disingenuous lol
localhost doesn’t work. If I try accessing through the IP address it takes me to the apache Debian default page which I can’t change because I don’t have access to root.
i want to build React-Native Android and IOS apps with VSC using my Samsung Chromebook that supports Android apps. Will i need Linux? What's the best Chomebook and Chromebox for me right now April 2020? Any chrome tablet i can use like a Chromebox with a 32 inch monitor and develop on?
This is it! I always wanted an android to run development work too and wished if google can bring it given Android is built on Linux kernel. And now it's happening Thought so as windows has a lot of problems like lagging and infamous blue screen, but android+ Linux - sweet
Well that's great! Being able to use Linux on Chrome OS has advantages over using a standalone Linux machine. Its nice to see Linux developement making progress on Chromebooks.
Advantages? Such as what exactly? ChromeOS went from being a browser that could run inside Linux to a browser that can run Linux inside it. Can ChromeOS run Windows applications, virtual machines, log you into SteamOS and different desktop environments? Can you modify it, tweak it to your liking? No you can't. You're stuck with what they give you.
The idea of having one device and do all the development tasks is very convenient for person like me...I need to connect my phone each time I need to debug any app, the port on my device is a bit loose and that's annoying for me....but My biggest problem is that there is no official iso image of chrome os so that anyone can download and install.
The UK I’m glad with the idea too, but there’s no clear which chromebooks can manage this and what could be the best performance/price to start. It would be a shame if the price is close to the high end laptops segment on market and even adding the cost of time adoption. The purpose is to build solutions, not to create problems or rise costs.
@@nauolin yes I totally agreed with you...Chromebooks doesn't justify their price/performance ratio... that's why I am asking for the universal iso file to install on any hardware and get the OS itself....but otherwise I totally agreed with you..
@@nauolin I was confused because apparently google sells a laptop now on their store called a Pixelbook that runs chrome OS. It has like 8-16GB RAM, up to 512GB ssd, 7th gen intel processor. If I had to guess this type of dev is suited for the Pixelbook? Can't imagine doing dev for years on a cheap chromebook and it doesn't make sense to pay for something so expensive to only use the internet
Chrome OS is absolutely never going to be released. They have certain requirements, specifications, so on and so forth that they claim prevents them from publicly releasing it. That combined with the fact that this is their proprietary software, and releasing it publicly might allow competitors to have access to some of google's specific codes and services. You CAN however get a copy of Chromium OS, Which is the open source version that Chrome OS is built on. The only thing is that because it is open source, it doesn't get full google features, so things like android apps, will not run, and you don't get native access to Google apps. (Things like the google play store, google play services, etc.) If you can live without the android functionality, or if you just want to experience Chrome OS and don't want to buy a chromebook to do so, it gives you a pretty decent taste of what Chrome OS is like, just with a bit more of a debian environment, and a bit less android.
Enough!! The main reason why I'm on Chrome OS is the cloud factor itself. What happens if I throw my Chromebook in the ocean, thought that was the point. Why don't I just get a Linux machine. I was hoping for something really on the web, other than this Linux hack thingy you guys have been pushing on Chrome OS for months.
I've been saying this for a long time already. They managed to take a browser out of Linux and put Linux inside the browser. Not exactly reason to then dump the OS you have for this. I mean, what the the 'new' features that they have that the OS you have doesn't have? What's the main selling factor? I simply don't get it.

I love that!
Wow! This is awesome, I thought Chromebooks are for students and non-techy laptop users only. So cool!
Google just told me to install Firefox
lol
Enable Linux environment and install it from There
how do i deal with the error where it says "cannot find module" whenever i enter nvm run build on nodejs? also, I changed the code a little cuz somewhat the kernel responded error when i typed npm run build.

But Linux softwares with high cpu and graphics demand like Blender, Matlab-simulink, gimpe won’t run with most of the existing chromebooks
But it's slowdown the process ...Of pc ...Not faster as direct oc installation like windows , Ubuntu
Virtualization is faster than you think and you probably don't need high end CPU for docker and node app.
