the production of this video is great. please keep exploring digital cameras, as it's a rabbit hole only so many collectors and hobbyists can dare to explore.
Thank you! Exploring digicams has now become a newfound passion of mine. The nostalgic appeal of these cameras has truly captivated me. I'm excited to continue delving into this fascinating world and discovering all the hidden treasures it has to offer.
I did NOT see that coming! Can’t believe you’re still a small channel - the video production and you are SO unique and beautiful! Keep it up - you’ll go very far 🏆♥️💪🏽
this is such a beautiful video. I've been watching some videos on the pixpro fz55 to get the full disclosure of what to expect from this model and to see if it's the right match to what I'm look for, but your video although very informative felt like a break rather than research, great production and message too, love the editing and music choice!!
I found my 2007 song digital camera and I loved this video. I’m so glad so many are ppl are exploring digit cams ❤❤❤. I loved the way this video was filmed ❤
Nice review! Have you tried changing the 'image size' setting in the menu? It's on page 43 of the fz55 user manual (you can find the pdf on google). Maybe that will make it look less fuzzy.
I like to use my digital camera because it is easier to download to my computer. It does better in morning light and twilight than my iphone mostly because it doesn't automatically adjust. The Iphone will adjust to make a clearer photo but I was intentionally trying to create a more moody shot. I'm sure you can adjust the settings on the iphone to get the same look but then you have to remember to reset, and since the digital camera is so small I just keep the settings where I want them, pull it out of my pocket, take the shot, and move on.
It sounds like you've found a great balance between convenience and creative control with your digital camera. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
As others said any digicam pre 2010 with a CCD sensor will do the trick, I personally have replaced my phone camera with a Sony Cybershot DSC-W210 and it is unmatched, the pictures and the way it takes them is very unique, nostalgic and film-like, 12.1 MP and 4x optical zoom, a beautiful way to take pictures as life moves on, I simply love it
Thank you so much! 😊 I actually didn’t know it was the best-selling camera in Japan over the summer-that’s so cool to learn! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Well, this is a real budget pocket camera (around 100 dollars new today!) so it's not really fair to compare it with a 1000+ dollars iphone. (Also worth checking that the best picture quality was selected form the settings.) If you're wanting a pocket camera that could really put your iPhone to the test you should get something like a Sony RX 100! Oh, and also if you're after that old "film look" you should get a pocket camera with a CCD sensor. This one like all or most cameras today have CMOS sensors. Most cameras from 10 years and older should do the trick!
The camera module in phones is only worth about 60 dollars. So the camera costing 100 dollars would be a fair comparison no? The price of the entire phone doesn't represent the cost of the camera. And we know the cost of camera modules of most phones because you can buy them, $60~ is pretty average for a camera module. After a year it even drops to about 15-20 dollars.
@@Myemnhk the thing is, it's not the camera module itself what makes pics and vids from smartphones look so good. It's the software, the image processing. And it has developed quite a bit, to say the least, in the last decade or so. These pocket cams aren't even qaurter, maybe even tenth, as advanced at this aspect. So @Sc0pee is entirely right pointing out the unfair comparison here. Though, the physical image sensors are probably still quite a bit better on pretty much any midrange phone too.
If I'm being honest, I'm quite surprised by the lack of clarity in your sample photos compared to other vids I've seen testing this camera. I've order one for myself, so I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of photos I can produce with it. Did you ever give this camera another shot? Perhaps fiddled around with the settings a little more?
This is exactly what I want to do, so Thank you so much! I want to find out if digital camera's are as good as a retro camera with film. And badly I want to leave my phone behind! ☺
I absolutely love the retro film look, but the time it takes to develop the photos can be a downside for me. That's why I think using a digital camera is the way to go! I highly recommend giving it a try without taking your phone for at least a day- it’s worth it!
I enjoyed this video a lot. This Kodak is a mix bag for sure. It's more of a take two shots to ensure you got it. Being this isn't a true Kodak that is where i think it fails, being a licensed product instead of a Kodak team that created the software to fine tuned it to be a great all around camera, Your left with that experience of a camera from a lesser known brand. Comparing the FZ55 to my DC280/290 which are Kodaks from 1999 2MP and 2.1MP take better photos then the FZ55 in terms of being focused and better exposure. Even with my Kodak CX7530 5MP it's less of a problem being that middle ground quality great little camera from 2004. I fine the FZ55 flash to harsh adding a filter on it could help with that, the EV settings can be hit or miss +0.5 or -0.5 to ensure a better shot. I use this camera in P mode the most and gotten better results. What is amazing with this camera is the range of resolutions from the lowest to the highest all look great, and video mode is awesome as well clean image great for those fun memories. I heard the FZ45 is better in focusing, maybe one day I'll grab one to see.
thank you - you helped me make a decision by not getting this camera - we are not a match all and your great video provivded. I am subscribing to you and gave you a thumb up rating. keep on making/creating your videos.
This is very nice, I love the visual quality and the color grade in this. If you're looking for any unsolicited feedback from a rando though, I can hear a lot plosives and wet mouth sounds on the audio. I don't know what your audio set up is, but putting distance and some kind of a fabric, even a microcloth over the mic can help smooth out some of those harsh Ps and Bs and cut down on a lot of that. Overall this is very lovely and I love the general aesthetic.
@gracereed1670 I use the Ultra plus SD card because that is what I had lying around lol. You can use any SD card really you just need to make sure the camera is compatible with SDHC or SDXC cards. The extreme cards often have higher storage capabilities and faster read/write speeds compared to the standard and Ultra SD cards.
I recently got the same camera but after a few days my pictures turns out pixelated and blurry, I'm not sure if it was because of how I transfer the picture or because of the camera settings. Would you know how to fix this issue?
Check the image quality and resolution in the settings. Resolution: Set your camera to the highest resolution (20MP) for the best image quality. Menu → Resolution → Select 20MP. Image Quality: Ensure it’s set to ‘Fine’ quality. Menu → Quality → Fine. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the content! You're images shouldn't be that pixelated. Was it perhaps a settings issue? For print and social media these digicams, old and new, are more than acceptable. But for the sake of aesthetics it often looks nicer when you shoot in a black and white emulation mode with the flash on at all times. Don't give up on them. See if you can get an older more premium one with a nice lens. The new Kodak stuff is just made under license and mass produced to capitalize on the current trend. They're not particularly great but can produce nice images under the right conditions.
But why settle with the easy solution and convenience? I’m struggling with too much phone use, I’m trying out new things and what I have learned is the more difficult it is for me the more useful it is, if it makes sense :)
I understand where you're coming from. Sometimes the more challenging path can indeed lead to greater growth and fulfillment. Keep pushing yourself to try new things, and I'm sure you'll continue to discover new strengths and capabilities along the way. Your determination is inspiring!

Would some-one please show me how to remove the lid covering the lithium battery? Mine will not BUDGE! I had a similar camera previously for 10 years and he same lid unlatched perfectly! IT LOOKS SO SIMPLE ON THIS VIDEO, BUT IN REALITY IT IS DIABOLICAL!
It's quite normal for the Kodak Pixpro FZ55 to take a moment to power on as it prepares to capture photos and videos. I've noticed the same behavior with my Sony and Canon mirrorless cameras as well. So, rest assured, your camera is functioning just as expected.
If you have an iPhone and a MacBook, you can use AirDrop to transfer photos easily. Just open Photos, select the pictures you want, tap the “Share” icon, and choose AirDrop, then select your MacBook. If you’re using a different setup, here are two other options: Email: Email the photos to yourself, then open your email on your computer and download them. USB Cable: Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable. You’ll see your device pop up, and you can drag and drop photos from there.
I think you would like the original Kodak classic models much better, called EasyShare. The colors and sharpness are much better. The M series have several nice 14MP models and are easy to use and carry. The V series 10MP and 12 MP models were Kodak's "style" models and are beautiful cameras to carry and use. I have been collecting Kodak digital cameras for many years and these two series are a great balance of fashion and classic Kodak image quality. Also, find one with the Schneider-Kreuznach lens.....a little bit sharper!
