In Australia and NZ, Aboriginals and Polynesians use the n word all the time. Never in a racist way though. On this side of the world, we are the black people. We get discrimination from white people just as much as any other minority anywhere else in the world. You hear white people calling Aboriginals and Māori and Islanders the n word just as much as you do in America. So we’ve treated it like the African Americans have and we’ve taken it and used it as a way of saying bro or homie. No disrespect intended towards anyone with African roots. Just the way we grew up and the way we live on this side of the world. Also there’s a lot of Islanders in LA that are in the gangs and they use the n word too. Some of those Islanders would come to NZ to see family or family from NZ would go to see them and they would bring the LA slang and shit back to NZ. That’s why there’s so many bloods and crips in NZ.
