He was Bernstein’s assistant conductor that OWNED the stage and orchestra!!!! He really knew how to wield his power. Oh my god RIP Maestros Bernstein and Ozawa
Wonderful to find this too. As I commented under the young Claudio Abbado video in this series, we often forget how many of our contemporaries or near contemporaries reach(ed) back so far into their musical lives.
For the first time, I watched Young Mr. Lennie and the performance of Seiji− Sensei! The Grand Maestro Lennie found my teacher I greatly respect is so honor! style of taking tact is almost all the same, so clear cue to play the next instrument player! Now Seiji-sensei don't use tact but his hand only now. Ozawa-sensei's passion to music doesn't change still now even he is over eighty years old! I still miss Lennie, Seiji-sensei's grand master!
We were lucky to have him in Toronto for a number of years. Fond memories of 1812 overture concerts lakeside with cannons from Fort York and HMCS Haida!
Many, many years ago when I was a teenager working at an HMV music store’s Classical section in Montreal, my manager played for the first time a video of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with Ozawa San conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The store was full of shoppers busily moving about doing their Christmas shopping when he played “Tempus es iocundum”…the ENTIRE store froze and watched both in awe and complete joy Ozawa San’s magically animated conducting and Kathleen Battle’s heavenly singing…I will never, ever forget that moment…it will be one of my youth’s defining moments of fleeting happiness and precious memories. Thank you Ozawa San…and RIP dear friend ❤🙏🏻 ua-cam.com/video/6FqeX888P18/v-deo.htmlsi=i5C2Io1laRNTrcMA
Rest in peace, Maestro Seiji-sama.
I didn’t miss not even one single rehearsal with Boston orchestra. One of my favorite conductor ❤
He was Bernstein’s assistant conductor that OWNED the stage and orchestra!!!! He really knew how to wield his power.
Oh my god RIP Maestros Bernstein and Ozawa
He is one of my favourite conductors. Bernstein was right about Ozawa’s future
Of course he was. I’m sure they’re up there right now making amazing music.
I' ll miss you, Seiji Ozawa. You lived a wonderful life. You were a good musician and a nice person.
Beautiful soul beautiful spirit. Rip great faithul conductor who delighted us with his treasure, talent, and time.😊
R.I.P. Grande Maestro ❤
Rest in peace Maestro Seiji Ozawa

We will miss him forever

Maravilloso maestro. 🙏🌿💮 Gracias por tanta belleza.

A wonderful & young talented Seiji Ozawa!! Omedetōgozaimasu Seiji San!
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Seiji face is very peaceful
Rest In Peace Seiji Ozawa!
It is interesting to see Seiji conduct so early in his career before he got really good.
R.I.P. maestro Ozawa
Ozawa’s 1812 Overture recordings are among the best.
O my goodness, so young here, where did the time go? Seji is 82 now. Great man.
I saw Ozawa conduct an Ives Symphony without a score
Seiji, Lenny, Wolfie... Yeah!
😢Rest in Peace 🙏
Only three years after winning the Besançon conducting competition, where it all began.
R.I.P.
I believe in those days more opportunities.

Allora la usò anche lui la bacchetta
i only see white men in the orchestra.
Seiji Ozawa is greatly missed. So sad now that he is gone from this Earth.
