I used to can’t stand long trips. The Tesla made long trips for me more bearable because of the charging which allows me to also “recharge” as well 😂

Nice Video! I'm positively surprised by your opinion!
    I'm a Tesla owner since 2 Years and yes i'm a car-enthusiast too.
I love the sound, the vibration, shifting gears and all the emotions of a gasoline sportscar. I use it to enjoy the driving just for fun.
But for a daily drive or a long trip the Tesla ist my very first choice.

Impressed with your open mindedness about this tesla adventure of yours. You can shorten charging stops by arranging to arrive at chargers with 10-15% charge and not charging past 70-80% but it isn't as relaxing.

The thing is, Charging any BEV, is a "New Experience" for most people, for more than "Just One Trip", so, making any "Judgement Call" takes some time getting the Nuances understood!
Even in my ICE Car, not all Road Trips are equally "Smooth Sailing!"

Great video!, Tesla owner from the UK here and definitely fanboys are wrong, there is no way an EV/Tesla can match time against a gas car/ICE, but it will get you there cheaper and more relaxed for the sake of an extra few hours. Look forward to the next video!

Depends on the road trip. I go from Phoenix to Disneyland and my Tesla saved me 10 minutes vs our Prius. That is because I normally stop to get gas at one location then go eat breakfast at McDonald’s. In my Tesla I can just stop at McDonald’s because they have a charging station.

Really liked your Tesla videos, definitely not boring. Only 1 comment I can say is as much as I really loved thode rims but without a doubt it hindered the Model 3 of extra mileage could have gained. I do have a Model 3 on a daily commute I have the 18in rims but on a long drive… time to reinstall the aero wheel covers. Otherwise thank you for this awesome video.

I don’t have a Tesla so wanted to start with that. I have test drove some though. All you have to do is sign into your music streaming service account (Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon music, etc.) and you can control you music through that OR you can connect via Bluetooth to your phone and use your virtual assistant to switch music for you.

I was an EV hater but recently bought a Porsche Taycan GTS and have become an overnight ev enthusiast. I picked up my car in Philly and road tripped it almost 900 miles home to Tenn. I learned quickly that most of what I thought was wrong. It does take a bit to trust the car’s charge plan and run it from 80 down to 10 to keep the charge rate up. While my Taycan does not have autopilot, I bought it to rip on the twisty roads in my local area. Performance is on par with the Tesla ( though the Plaid is slightly faster in a line) but handling is far superior. I don’t miss my 718 Cayman at all. I should say that I do still have a Jeep Trackhawk and my F250 so I still am firmly planted in ICE world.

This is over a year old.....I'm aware. But, for anyone researching buying a Tesla who comes across this there are a few things I think they should know. 1st.....in my opinion the lack of android auto or Apple carplay is WILDLY overblown. If you know what you're doing you should NEVER have to touch your phone as was said in the video. I connected my phone to the car when I got it via BT and have never had to physically touch it while in the car unless I'm switching playlists. But I avoided that by putting all of my music on a single playlist. I can use voice commands to mess with my phone, make or receive a call....etc. 2nd...my car is a 2014 Model S. I just made an 1100 mile trip from Indiana to Florida and it cost me exactly $0 dollars as most Model S cars from 2012 to 2016 have free supercharging included. There are caveats to that as cars that were resold by Tesla typically had that feature removed. But if you know what to look for you can pick up a Model S that has free supercharging for life. My range is nowhere near that of the model 3's in this video. I spent an extra 6 hrs traveling, each way, over driving the BMW I got rid of for the Tesla OR the Lexus LS400 I have as a 2nd car. But each of those would have cost me roughly $350 each way to drive. The extra 12 hrs round trip was definitely worth the $700 in savings to me. It's scary taking the leap to EV's for sure. But they've been on the road for 10+ years now and the bugs have been largely worked out, the few bad cars that made it out have almost all been straightened out under warranty as well. Once you take the leap you'll likely have zero regrets except for the one I have.....what in the world took me so long!?

I do relate to the "Road Trip Fatigue" aspect, driving from Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Orlando or Kissimmee, FL!
That trip is usually a "Two Sleep" Drive (two nights in Hotels)! Because of the Distance, AND the "Shopping" distractions, along the way!
Similar to Daytona Beach, or Ormond Beach, FL!
However, on my last Return from Ormond Beach, we made it home, in "1 Sleep!" (I limited the "Shopping Distractions" portion, which really helped!)
However, Google Maps says from my home to Massanutten, is a 9 Hour Drive, but we take 12 Hours, in my ICE Kia Soul! Yet, "abetterrouteplanner" app, says, just 10 Hours in a Model 3 Long Range, or 10.5 Hours, in the Model 3 Standard Range! (2 Charging Stops, vs 1 Charging Stop!)

I’m glad Tesla owners can wait 30 - 40mins at each charging stations. Maybe that is why at the end of the trip, you are not exhausted. 5hrs over your the goal.

I thought it was just another click bait EV hater video, but despite the journey taking longer than you anticipated you gave a balanced view. I’ve told anyone that will listen for a long time now that EV journeys are far more relaxing and being forced to take a bit longer break than a tank fill up isn’t a negative, you are more alert as a result IMO.

Bro , you have a model 3 performance. Take that shit to the track , canyon, or just start gapping scrubs in their BMWs. I’ve had my model 3 P for 1 yr , and their was only one day when I didn’t use full acceleration. It’s when I had take out pho 🍜 soup in my frunk and I didn’t want it to spill it.

I might have been born in the wrong generation, but I’d rather hop in a clean 90’s f-350 7.3 powerstroke or even the new Ram TRX700 than a Tesla. I’d still love a Tesla, they are great in performance and handling, but the charging thing would kinda be inconvenient, especially where I live. I don’t hate teslas, I like them. I just prefer gas or diesl

Charging is a Different Experience than Gassing Up, for sure! However, my "Typical" Road Trip, from around Toronto, Ontario, Canada - to Daytona Beach, FL, is a Two Sleep (two nights in Motels) Trip! Coming home, the last time, we Squeezed the trip into a "One Sleep Trip" in my ICE Kia Soul!
I wouldn't want to even "Try" to "Match Google Trip Times" in Reality!
And I typically drive about 3 Hours between Stops.

    • @rayshepherd2479

Except for trips most charging is done at home which takes less time than gassing up an ICE.

Gas price to Tesla cost is big deal n. More comfort too wow am sold . I drove my old school Toyota celica from Florida to my army duty station Ft. Lewis Wa. On Monday n had to sign in by Friday early Saturday 12 midnight. I got in by 10 pm Friday. Yes from Florida to Washington state in December 1988. Oh I would do that trip in 2022 September in a Tesla 3 any day easy n cheaper too. October 1,2022. I have to drive my long time buddy car 2008 impala behind his new car to Indiana with his wife to be . Ahh da fun to come . Lol

Geez, yea I get that lane keep and dynamic cruse will help a lot on long drive. But even the cheapest corolla base model will have lane keep and tacc which will remove huge amount of stress for long distance drive. Everyone has that now, Plus you don't need to huddle a "supercharger" and waste time like a Musk fanboy. LOL

Tesla has another way to charge your battery in 90 seconds, well change you battery completely. The quick change takes 90 seconds if you get your car and a battery exchange program. Just drive on too the quick change, 90 seconds later you are off with a full battery, half the time it takes to fill an Audi's tank. And you can pee at any roadside resteraunt, or truck stop. Or use auto pilot and pee in a bottle, you are a man, it hangs out for convenience but for women, maybe a bit difference. Still beats 30,000 pounds of carbon a year! That is what it's really all about, your children's future.
