    3 seasons, 3 different champoins from three different countries and 2 hemispheres. What an absolutly incredible league the URC is now. I think we can all agree on this simple fact.

      Couldn't agree more. Well said 👏
      The best thing about rugby for me is the diversity in athleticism and strategy that it allows.
      The URC is the perfect representation of this with the most diverse set of teams in any competition💪

      @@thegainline I think I'd still have the French Top 14 as the top league. It probably has the greatest concentration of rugby talent on earth in one country and the World's best club team in Toulouse. It also has a relegation and promotion system which the URC lacks and intense historic rivalries. However, having said that the URC is an absolutely terrific product, which seems to get better every year. It also has something that the other leagues lack, a diversity between different counties, cultures and even hemispheres. In that way the URC is very exciting and unique.

    Proud as Punch to be a Glaswegian and all respect to Franco Smith who has put a Bok mentality into our players minds. Also it without doubt that the introduction of the South African teams have raised the standard of the URC. See you all next season for I am sure another pulsating season in the URC.

    Understand his frustrations & emotions but Jake White showed no respect to Glasgow in his pressie. No humility at all. Shame. It was there for everyone to see. The best team won. Not only that, Jake was simply out-coached!

      @@kiaoragin especially considering the overturn on Dempsey try. It might have been the "right call" but it was super tight and I saw far more obvious pens ignored. If you look at meters made, line breaks and defenders beaten Glasgow should've won that game by two scores.

    Great commentary on the final with really nicely balanced look at both teams. I thought Glasgow looked like they were growing into the game as it went on. Zander Fagerson playing 80 minutes at altitude as a prop is insane. Bulls fans and players have been incredibly magnanimous, just wish Jake was in his press conference.

    This is the year I got into club rugby and being from West Scotland I obviously ended up supporting Glasgow and Bath and what a year to pick, it's been a serious buzz the last few weeks in particular. Both teams have Saffa coaches and key players so thanks for being such a solid rugby country that you've got talent to spare!

    Glasgow got the benefit of bringing their best players down to South Africa earlier in the season. Particularly a few weeks ago when teams were jostling for playoff positions and they got close to the Bulls despite losing the game. This was in contrast to my team Leinster who just thought they could rock up with their star players and win having never played at Loftus before. Sometimes I understand the haters. Well done to the new champions.

      @@thegainline it sure did. Especially that last 15 minutes which gave Glasgow a big boost of confidence. It is why I didn't buy the "Glasgow will fade in the last 15 mins" narrative. It was the opposite in that pool game.

    On the point about discipline. I have noticed that the team that is expected to win often gets the better of the referee decisions. Teams that win less then get a reputation for having bad discipline and around we go again. I was only able to watch the last 10 minutes and in that time I saw the following missed decisions in favour of the Bulls:
    Off side (OK, missable, you can't have eyes on the back of your head)
    High tackle not penalised (clear and around the neck)
    Off feet at the ruck (debatable but then the Bulls got an equally debatable one given in their favour with 40 seconds to go).
    Bulls line out throw not straight (4 seconds to go, a scrum would have ended the match there with a Glasgow win).
    Those last two really give one the feeling that the referee was scared to make a decision that ended the game in favour of Glasgow.
    This is not an exclusively Scottish phenomenon (I accept I am bias). A classic example of this is the refereeing of the 2011 World Cup final, where France were treated very differently from NZ. They were robbed in that match. To me, this damages rugby.

    • @jlm4455
      @jlm4455 3 місяці тому

      Can't be using that as excuse when Glasgow had to travel that distance and into that cauldron. The thing many people overlooked is the last 15 minutes of that pool game. Glasgow were getting hammered and suddenly in that last 15 mins were all over the Bulls. That showed to me two huge things:
      1. They could play with the Bulls
      2. The levels of fitness to come that close to snatching a win after being down 37 to 10? Were not only impressive, but it also told me the altitude would not be as big a factor as many assumed it would be.

  • @johannrugby3811
    @johannrugby3811 3 місяці тому +3

    If you attack like the bulls in the final, you won't ever break down defence especially a strong defence like Glasgow's one. Crash ball, crash ball, crash ball, one-off carries, that doesn't challenge the defence in the modern game at all. You must do something that confuses the defence and give the ball more to the backline.

    • @jlm4455
      @jlm4455 3 місяці тому +2

      Glasgow had one of the best defenses in the URC. In fact, they had the best red zone defense in the League. It isn't a shock the Bulls struggled to break them down. They also have a really underrated bench. Players like Dobie and Max Williamson have been delivering off the bench all season. Yet? They got ignored in favor of the narrative that Glasgow had a suspect bench.
      That very good and underrated bench continued the energy levels in defense and allowed Glasgow to stifle teams when it mattered.
      Giving the ball to the backline is fine if the forwards are on the front foot. After the first 25 mins that was rarely the case for the Bulls. If you try run the ball with slow and bad ball you will get punished.

    • @jlm4455
      @jlm4455 3 місяці тому +1

      BTW the Bulls did try to run the ball and were very, very fortunate it didn't cost them 7 points. Dempsey's overturned try was a consequence of Bulls trying to force it to the backline. It almost backfired spectacularly.
