  • Finished mix of Roll Plymouth Rock, or Do You Like Worms, using Mike Leroy's AI vocals. I think it turned out incredibly nice through all of the trial and error that went into it. I wanted the pictures to tell a nice but still open to interpetation kind of story with what I believe to be THE definitive mix for Roll Plymouth Rock. Give me your opinions in the comments!
    Credits:
    @ClassicRockerSr101 for the AI vocals
    @jiggy2290 for the Chorus and Bridge

    Instant respect goes out to you for using the original ending.

    I can't believe it, but I'm calling it, you're 100% right in calling this THE definitive mix. My only nitpick is, as another commenter pointed out, the lack of the lyric "Having returned to the East or West Indies - we always got them confused...". Other than that minor thing, this is perfect, dude, hats off to you!

      wow didn't know that was one of the lyrics

      @@UnderTheCovers1 Yeah, Frank Holmes, an artist for the Beach Boys who made cover designs for planned Smile singles mentioned it in a magazine interview in 1997. It wasn't specified where that lyric would go, but to me, it would sound good if put after the final "rock, rock, roll..." section of the song.

    Such a underrated album, it’s really such a shame it couldn’t be released in its own time it really would have be cool to see how other bands in the 60s would have approached this music and how The Beatles would respond to it. Iv always loved the inspiration and concept for this Album, Early Americana music with Mark Twain Inspiration and a touch of Beach Boys

    2:16-3:00 BEST PART, such a feeling of serenity at this point of the song.

    Great. I just wish we knew more about the "once upon the sandwich isles" melody Brian briefly sings in one of the sessions, which seems to pair with the bassline during verses.

      I agree! The ending here fits the song more in my opinion since it continues playing into the ambience that the song creates without fully stopping it like on the smile sessions!

    What's really great is this is arranged perfectly, as it would've had it come out in '67, well maybe without the tag at the end but the Heroes and Villains theme is always great to hear.
    Personally I prefer the Mono version of the chorus, maybe pull back the fuzz bass on Ribbon of Concrete, Bicycle Rider it's hard to hear the vocals there. Great job on the mix!

      @omne1008  Рік тому +3

      I see your point definitely, I had it high because it really highlights how crazed that section is and the sharp contrast with the previous section, and thank you! The tag at the end would most likely have been there, as on the mixes Brian made from that period it ended like that!

      I would love to, but in my opinion these are the two best AI generated lines. The one for The Old Master Painter and Child Is Father Of The Man in my opinion fall a bit short in that regard.

      I see, but this was actually Brians original intended ending for the song! It appears on the rough mono mixes done by him in late 1966.

      every version ends with either the tack-piano descending part, or the “wooo-wooo” train-whistle vocal imitation, after the tack-piano descending part. That would be the most accurate depiction, unless you can find an instance of the ‘Bicycle-Rider’ theme starting up again and then fading out

      3:09 accurate, 3:30 inaccurate, is all I’m saying

  • @landonhall1852

    This is almost it. The volume of the verse vocals is too quiet, and the chorus could be turned down to compensate.
    However this is the best version so far.
