I love the Japanese people for honoring the undying love Hachi had for his master. The American movie version of this story with Richard Gere is how I came to know about Hachi. Extremely touching and beautiful film.
The original japanese movie is so nice than English one. It portrays more things and relationship between hachi and his master. It has depicted all day to day activities of both of them :) both movies are awesome though
One thing to learn from the Japanese is that they value every thing . They made a staue of Hachi and his owner to symbolize the immense and immortal love between the dog and his owner. The world has really learned some great things from Japan. It is also one of the great nations in the world who never give up against tsunamis and earthquakes , they fight back and restore their loses. Japan we love u

@@serendipitous2290 I'm Japanese, Hachi and Hachikou are the same. "Kou" is a suffix added to a name and is a colloquial expression that conveys familiarity. But it's an old expression. If you come to Japan, please don't use "Kou". There is a bronze statue of Hachikou in Shibuya, Tokyo. There is a stuffed Hachikou at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno, Tokyo. For Japanese people, the story of Hachikou is special. I also heard the story of Hachikou when I was a child. Hachikou is still known to all Japanese people. Of course, it is also called "hachi". We Japanese will never forget the story of Hachikou.
This story broke me down all over again. I've seen "Lassie," "Old Yeller," "Turner and Hooch," and "Where the Red Fern Grows," but "Hachi" was the only one that ever broke me down because it struck too close to home. I waited on a porch for a dog to come home, a dog my mother needlessly had put down when I was at school and then lied and said he ran away. Then years later I was told what she told my brother. She told him he was given to a chicken farmer. I lost that dog twice. Then after Mom died, Dad FINALLY told me the truth. She put him down as an out-of-court settlement because the dog chased a would-be vandal over a fence, and the kid hurt his shoulder in the fall. The dog NEVER touched the kid. He chased him out of the yard. When the parents threatened to sue, Mom had the dog destroyed. I was going up and down the street and waiting on the porch. I was a human Hachi. One time the letter carrier saw me crying and was at a loss for words. Mom sat inside, talked on the phone, watched her soaps, did laundry, and ignored me. Since Mom died, I can't bring myself to look at pictures, especially when I found out I lost the same dog THREE TIMES! I live in the U.S. and have promised myself to go to the Rhode Island train station where the movie with Richard Gere was filmed one day and to my old house and wait for the mail one last time as a memorial to that dog.
Hachiko may have gone on! An animal dies, but the carbon will not. It will return to the soil, & there a plant may take it up sending it once more on a cycle of plant & animal life.
And imagine the afterlife the two have now: no worries, stress free, but the two bestest friends going on walks, playing together and fondly enjoying each others company
Hachiko finally gets the reunion he deserves!!! What a beautiful tribute. That statue brings tears to my eyes. I hope Professor Ueno and Hachiko are taking long walks together through heaven!
I know this totally unrelated but this is one of the major reasons I love adventure time, the love and bond between Fin the human and Jake the dog is so strong it encompasses lifetimes. The loyalty and friendship between man and dog is pure wholesome. I’ll await my dog in heaven or in the next lifetime when the time comes.
I've given instructions that in the event I were to die before my dog, that she would be permitted to view my remains. That way, she would understand that I would not be coming home, and that I did not abandon her.
steven franklin I told my children the same, is better if our pets see us for the last time, they are smart and will understand, I don't want my dog suffer waiting for me. I saw the movie with my 2 children and we cried a lot. a beautiful story, but my heart broke thinking the pain this dog had, waiting for 9 years. his pain must be horrible day by day. really sad.
I agree with you Sir Steven. Hachi should have been allowed to view the remains of his master for him to not wait anymore for his master since there will be closure, once and for all. . . . I really pitied Hachi. . . . .
Beautiful, you are the most intelligent person on earth, beautiful. I’m crying reading this , my emotions, tears are non stop from last 4 years , when I watch this movie.
I just watched the movie made with Richard Gere twice within 24 hours, late last night, and this afternoon. Cried my eyes out both times. Even my BF teared up when I asked him to watch with me this afternoon. Such a beautiful story of love and loyalty.
Having seen and cried through the American version of this story...I am pleased to see this tribute to this amazing dog.As a dog owner ( for some 60 years) I know the devotion felt by both the being a dog owner and the loving dogs in my life.
I love Hachiko and his story always touch my heart. Hachiko is my favorite dog in the world... I'm happy for Hachi and Professor Hidesaburo Ueno. They are finally together in heaven... 🏫🐶💝
Dogs are so loyal!! It brings tears to my eyes! Dogs love their owners with all their heart and soul and nothing else really matters to them except their owners!! Hachiko was a brave boy! May their souls rest in peace and may they be together forever now!!
It will be beautiful if at the end of the movie there's a scene where Hachi was sleeping and woken by his master at a pure white world sand said "Let's go Hachi"
The newer movie (2005) with Richard Gere has an ending almost like that. It makes you cry, a whole lot. If there is a Heaven, I hope to meet Hachiko there, I want to give him a huge hug.
Hachi and his master are now together forever. This is a happy ending to their story that was cut short by professor's death. I wish the movie adaptations of Hachi's story could have shown scenes some people kind to him even before his popular days.
I can´t stop crying, when I see this. It´s so lovely. Such a faithfulness and love you will find in no one. Hachiko and his master lived almost 100 years ago. But today I feel it still deeply under the skin and in the heart.
after saw the movie of Hachi's story i can't stop crying 😭 the pure love of Hachi's heart is so beautiful. He waited his master 10 years with broken heart and never tired, everyday, every train stopping he look for his master 💔
It reminds of my neighbors dog who was stay alone and he died recently 2 years back. Relatives left the dog like this in the yard. He always waiting for his owner in a hope. It took me 5 months to gain his trust and love now he is living with my family. He is a bodyguard of my 2 beautiful childrens. He don't left anyone touch them acting all time like a mom.
I had the honour of seeing this statue a few months ago. Trust me guys, this video doesn't make justice to the amount of details the actual statue has. The eyes, the posture, the ways hands and paws connect, the "shine" Hachiko's eyes have, the paternal smile of Dr. Ueno, and so much more. The statue at Shibuya station is well visited and highlighted, and it's beautiful. But if you visit Tokyo, I 101% suggest to take a little tour to the Faculty of Agriculture.

That film DESTROYED me, man. I can't even listen to that song in my head without bawling.
