- Join Gabe on a very special visit with Air Tindi in Yellowknife. See behind the scenes, in the hangars and on the ramp, at the largest operator of Dash 7s in the world. Tour the Dash 7 in both cargo and combi configurations, and check out the rest of their varied fleet, including a flight out to Łutsel K'e on the east side of the amazing Great Slave Lake on their workhorse Twin Otter. And last but not least, visit their float plane base on the other side of town where it all started for Air Tindi back in the day. It's an incredible day out in Canada's Northwest Territories, and not to be missed if you're into classic flying and incredible scenery!

Possibly my favorite shoot of the year so far!
Thanks so much, Gabe, and the FlightRadar24 team, for this fantastic video! It was a pleasure having you explore and showcase Air Tindi, our team, our fleet of legendary aircraft, and the beautiful Northwest Territories. Hope to see you again soon for more adventures!
And to everyone entering the contest, best of luck-we can't wait to see who wins!
Air Tindi 🎉
Yellowknife has to be on every planespotters bucket list. The sheer variety there is astounding.
The first airplane I ever flow on was the Twin Otter. I was just a kid and was glued to the window looking at everything from 1500 feet! Love the Twin Otter. That beautiful red Air Tindi Dash 7 would have come from Air Greenland.
Air tindi has probably the best PR team. They love it when you spot their aircraft and are super friendly and supportive. Love to see them again at YQT
Thank you so much! 😊 We look forward to being spotted in YQT again soon!
Great to spot Buffalo's 737 on take off @ 11:13 Superb video as always!!
Thanks for taking us on this flight, fantastic operation by Air Tindi crew ! Congrats to all !
I remember seeing a Ward Air jet one night in the 70's at the Hamilton ON airport (YHM). I was quite young but the adults in the crowd were excited to see it arrive, probably because YHM didn't see that kind of traffic back then. Good on Air Tindi servicing the north with their impressive fleet. Love that all red livery on the Dash 7's.
My Favorite Air Tindi aircraft is the Dash 7 in the Air Greenland Colors. I was lucky to visit Yellowknife last year and loved it! It’s a must for any aviation geek! I’m also a safety card collector!❤️✈️
My first flight was a charter on a Wardair DC8 from Saskatoon to London UK in 1969. Service like I’ve never had since. Excellent meals and table settings like you only get on the best first class now. Max Ward knew excellence.
Lucky People who work for AIR TINDI with these wonderful sceneries !!
Love the sound of the Air Tindi Dash 7!
Yes it’s amazing 😍
Go Go Quad Otter! :) The best airplane in the world.
Air Tindi 😆 Dash 7 is so special, and the Twin Otter seems really fun too
Love that DHC-7 in Air Greenland colors. 22:07 also love the Air Tindi Twin Otters throttling sound you only get with a prop; on the water it's even more unique.
Would definitely love to fly an Air Tindi Dash 7 one day!!
Great to see the Air Tindi video and some of their fleet.
i’m so grateful to live here
C-GUAT is Ex-Air Greenland
OY-CBT
I maintained an ice strip and loaded and unloaded C-GUAT many times in NWT. Using rubber tired and tracked loaders. It brings back memories. Also flew on many of the Air Tindi twins, mostly on skiis with lake landings. Of the Dash 7 fleet at the time, C-GUAT had the best suspension for loading heavy pallets.
Great video! Thanks for bringing these smaller operators into our view. Lovely aircraft too.
Great experience Gabe! And amazing landscapes with Air Tindi!
Brilliant video as always. Loving the Air Tindi DH7 and their Yellowknife operation.
And without the Twin Otter so many places in the world might remain unconnected. Canada's north being chief among them. Another is the Maldives where the Twin Otter can rightly claim its share of their success as a luxury tourism destination. Really great video.
Air Tindi seems like an awesome company to work for!
The Air Tindi Dash-7 has always been my white whale! What an awesome video!
Awesome you got to fly with them. I'm lucky to fly Air Tindi often across the lake to and from Hay River.
Took a Wardair non-stop flight from Toronto to Hawaii and back in the 70’s. He was a real pioneer, and I believe he started out as a bush pilot.
I've flown on a couple of Twin Otters on the Loganair service to Bara (and thanks to weather Benbecula) from Glasgow. Bara has the added joy of a scheduled flight landing on a beach - you need to add that to your bucket list.
I love the Dash-baby. She stays so cute, how old she is. A (Twin) Otter belongs in the water! Hope you will take us some day in a Twin Otter out of the water. Please🙏
I have always wanted to go to Yellowknife and fly Air Tindi! 😎 love the Dash 7
Thanks for the fantastic scenery and the close ups of various aircraft. So many cool ones on the ground there. id of loved to see even more close ups and info on some of those planes. How about a trip on one of the float planes? That single-engine lady looked enticing! Thanks again and great work, as always!
I hope Air Tindi keeps that Twin Otter in Mr. Ward’s color scheme.
I flew with Wardair a few times from Edmonton to Manchester and to Honolulu, been on their 747s, DC10s and an A300.
Also, awesome flight man! I’ve always loved that signature huge t joint connecting both control columns on the twin otters and I love the upgraded panel! What an amazing piece of equipment!
By far my favorite plane is the Max Ward twin otter. He and his plane are legendary. I wasn't aware that's where the plane ended up. Thanks so much for highlighting that. Great work Gabriel! I hope you got to tour Buffalo Airways as well. 😊
Really nice planes with Air Tindi, need to catch a flight on those at some point!
A load of super Interesting aircraft,
Have to love Max Wards personal plane and Wardair which I travelled overseas on every year to Europe! Cheapest and best airline ever!🇨🇦
Fantastic video, thank you Gabriel! Just refreshing to watch something like this!
Great video, love the Air Tindi Dash 7!
Love the Dash 7. My las twin otter flight was two yess as is ago from Glasgow to Barra. Another very interesting video. Thanks
Great video! .. so odd looking at a 50 year old aircraft in the cabin then seeing a glass cockpit!
Thanks to @flyairtindi for allowing this.
Air Tindi , love the otter!!
I just started watching the video ... The Curtis C46 Commando taking off 2-50 ish is a highlight already ... wow ...
Yes I knew where Air Tindi got that DHC-6. My Dad used to fly the DHC-4A Caribou (C-GVYX & C-GVYZ) around the north from '79 to '86. VYX was owned by Max Ward and affectionately known as "Victor Yankee Icebox" because the heater failed frequently.
My favourite Air Tindi plane is most definately the DHC-7 Dash 7 😊
At first glance, I thought you were back in Greenland. :). As much as I like Jet's, there is nothing like the sound of a turboprop. I absolutely love that sound. Great video. Air Tindi.
Worked for Air Tindi for 16 years
Awesome video about Air Tindi!
I love flying on the Twin Otter. MASwings on Malaysian Borneo have a fleet of six Twin Otters used to connect small rural communities with limited road access.
Awsome! I worked for Wardair from 1970 to 1975 and have dozens of hours flying in WAH and the rest of the fleet as a mechanic/engineer. Most of the time was in the RH seat and did a lot of hands on flying when the Pilots got bored. The Twin Otter is my favourite a/c to work on and fly on. Well done and it is great to see it in it's original paint scheme, I hope it stays that way! Max would be proud.
Air Tindi! Hope to work for them some day soon! ❤
That was really good, thank you.
I used to fly Wardair from the UK to Canada every year as a kid in the 70s and 80s.
Love your videos man extra motivation to visit Canada’s untouched zones
Max Ward - I remember very well. In the the 1980's soon after I emigrated to Canada I used to fly home to the UK on Wardair B747's. Two things of note - first Wardair served a decent steak meal in economy in contrast to the Air Canada offerings. And second, I remember flying on a Wardair B747-100 right up on the nose (4 economy seats across) out of Newcastle for a flight to Toronto. Newcastle runway was a mere 7200 feet long. It was definitely my airline of choice for transatlantic flights back then.
Already bought an Air Tindi Twin Otter t-shirt, would love to win the Dash 7 one.
As a Canadian; I don't know if there's a more Canadian sound, than the slightly out of phase PT6As of a twin otter; it's just such a special noise to me.
Love the video! Keep up the good work! air tindi ❤
Gabriel, if you want a real thrill try and get yourself on a Twin Otter on "big wheels" (low-pressure tundra tires) landing and taking off from 600 ft (200 m) of unprepared ground (e.g. raised beach, dry gravel river bed) - so-called offstrip flying. Nothing like standing on the brakes, shoving the throttles fully forward, almost immediately pulling back on the control column, stall-warning alarms going off, and lurching into the air in no time at all...loads of fun!
Air Tindi is a very special airline! Very cool that they can keep them running!
Great video! Air Tindi!
Man, i miss flying the dash7 up here in Greenland
Air Tindi love the Dash 7 what a sexy Beast of a aircraft
Hey Gabriel...probably your best ever vid ❤
We run lots of Dash 8's in Aussie...especially to offshore islands...hopefully one day you can get here for a look/see!
March 2014 we flew Air Tindi DHC-6 Twin Otter (C-FATO) from the "float base" which was a frozen lake ice runway, out to Blachford Lake Lodge where we also landed on the frozen lake.
Great experience, and we got to see the aurora in the couple of nights we were there. The number of lakes on the glaciated landscape is truly amazing.
Return flight was another Twin Otter from Summit Air (C-FTFX) where we took off on skis and landed on wheels at Yellowknife airport.
I noticed the Buffalo planes in the video - their eclectic fleet is worth a look.
PS - got to fly the DH-7 in Dec 1986 operated by Rocky Mountain Airlines from Denver to Avon STOLport & return.
Got a fabulous view of the Rockies and Vail resort both ways.
Avon is long gone (could be a Walmart theses days) replaced by Eagle County Airport.
The 2 Dash 7 in red livery is ex-Air Greenland. Great video
@flyairtindi rules!!! It'd be a dream to get to fly into their float base 💜 but a safety card would be sick too 😊
I knew a guy who had all sorts of interesting stories whilst he was working up north installing satellites. He said they’d always take Air Tindi. Also had one if their birds parked up outside work the other day in Winnipeg.
First time I see that Twin Otter plane from Air Tindi.
Wonderful planes when used by Wideroes!
Air Tindi - Twin Otter 😍
Arkia Israel Airlines used to have two Dash 7s that they operated 20 years ago to short airfields domestically. Flew on them a couple of times.
Air Tindi 🙏
I've got a picture of GUAT in Cambridge Bay. And a bunch of pictures when I travelled down to Yellowknife.
I love the aircraft u entered the cockpit is so modern ❤❤
Awesome! //
Air Tindi Dash 7. I used to fly BA Brymon from Newquay to Heathrow in one back in the day
Dash 7 love air tindi
I remember Wardair. I used to fly with them between Toronto & London in the 70's. Canada's answer to Laker airways.
Air Tindi!! Super neat 😮😊
Great! I spy Air Greenland livery on the tail of the Dash 7
Defo another great vlog Gabriel but I think those two Dash 7s have come from Air Greenland but great vlog boss and once again sooper jealous 😊😊😊
Air Tindi have some of Air Greenlands previous Dash 7’s, love those aircraft, which believe it or not - is not bigger than a Dash 8-300.
Air Tindi ❤
“Air Tindi”. That’s my Office CARS (Community Aerodrome Radio Station) in Lutselk’e.
👋
Nice
Well in both the dash 7 and twin otter down in Antarctica when I was down there working for the British Antarctic Survey
Wow, a gravel runway (at Łutsel K'e).
air tindi!!
Max Ward famously declared that his jets did not need In Flight Entertainment systems as the cabin crew would be busy serving meals throughout flights. Indeed their cabin service was excellent though all seats were economy / coach.
Airtindi ❤
i envy your job.
You should get a tour of the tower
Love that livery! Isn’t that from greenlands airline?? I could be wrong I no it’s a northern one tho! Lol
Air Greenland 🇬🇱😀 is my guess
Air Greeland
Can't be the Air Tindi Twin Otter!
Grønlandsfly (Air Greenland) 🧡🧡🧡
Greetings, flight radar 24 team, I applied for ADS-B, but the answer did not come, how long does it take, it's been a week
Built yourself a pi and do it yourself.
