  • @YTJamTracks knows just how to get me in the mood to play. Also, it doesn't hurt to have this Charvel DK24 FR in Infinity Blue!! My gf had gotten me a gift card for our anniversary and I finally used it on something that I just couldn't ignore. The blue finish is just incredible to look at. Coupled with the ebony board and black pickups/hardware this thing looks clean af! Of course I had to give her my usual TLC (bought it used) but now she plays like a brand new baby!! (She didn't fight me very much which was nice.) This honestly is my dream setup: HSS with a FR means I can whammy flutter all day and never go out of tune and I get all the tonal qualities I generally want when I'm soloing. Normally I find the Seymour Duncan Full Shred to bite a bit too hard, but it sounds just perfect in this model. I know it's still the honeymoon phase, but I might have a new favorite. :D

Congratulations, great conversational jam with it, coaxing tones. Hella back track there too. 💪 You rock! Thanks for sharing this. 👍

Thanks, Jim! I need to work on better lead structure. I tend to "babble" way too much. 😅

@@cbsaulren Leads can lean towards Freeform expression. Or think of a singer, and the way singers repeat words or phrases. They double or triple pulse on a note, so don’t feel obligated to trail down a scale fully. You can stop along the way and rest on a choice note or harmony note. The tremolo was nice to see, and hear you employ. All in all, I liked it. Haven’t had a Floyd in many years! 💪

@@jimshomestudio4669 I've had mixed feelings about Floyd for a while but the more setups I try, the more I realize if I want a tremolo, the FR is the most reliable. I'm also in the habit of using my hand on the bridge to vibrato and most of the time I don't even keep a tremolo arm attached.
I don't want to sound like a stereotypical player by any means, but I definitely wish I could use more meaningful note choices. I've spent the last few years practicing scales forwards and backwards as well as different techniques that I never bothered to learn in the 20+ years before that. It's hard to break the habit of just running through the motions but it's a process and I'm trying to remember it'll take time. 😁

@@cbsaulren please understand that I offer the suggestions to help and not to criticize what you have done here. Because we often self reflect.
Floyd’s are the bomb. Nearest I have is the Ibanez Low Pro Edge 7 which really stays in tune. I just have to wrestle the 7. Wish I had a nice Floyd, don’t want to part with the money for an ESP. Still saving for that damn truck!
When I’m tracking, I will play like wild for a few without hitting record. Then I start recording and the only thing that comes out is trash, so I refine and hear a melody part I like and record that.
If it still sucks I have been known to punch in and replace bits. Bends, my nemesis. Rare that I challenge myself to record 3 minutes of perfection. I used to do that, but underwent a period of critical listening, where I edit out anything that stinks and rerun the effects after, cutting the dry mix and re building the wet hides flubs real well.
After all is said and done, I listen for the part someone might be able to sing along to. And if I like the theme enough it’ll get rehashed somehow back into the song end or something.
Kinda like you had at the end of this one. What I enjoyed so much is the exploration, you landed on something you liked. I liked it too.

@@jimshomestudio4669 oh I doubt I would ever consider any comment from you as anything but constructive! I'm just being critical of myself and trying to improve.
I notice that your songs tend to have recurring themes. Your guitar always fits very nicely in your songs and the mixes make them sound very alive.
I really didn't need to buy this guitar, but the girlfriend was nice enough to gift me the majority of the money for it so I bought one I knew she would like. Blue is her favorite color. 😁

**** yeah dude congrats on the new Charvel! Any day with a new Charvel is a good day. Dig the improv on this one too. Very nice.
The ones with the Floyds are the ones with the most hidden power under the hood in my opinion. There's some basic mods that can be done that take them to the next level. Been meaning to do a video on it since forever. I keep saying the next Floyd I get I'm going to record the mods but then I get over zealous and just do it. 🤣

Hell yeah I was waiting for that DMN seal of approval! The more I considered what guitar I wanted, the more it just made sense to snag this one. Cort makes really good stuff, arguably very high end material for the price, but Charvel just makes work horse guitars. It took me all of 30 minutes to get this puppy playing like butter. No fuss no mess. No second thoughts of returning it. I always have a similar experience though: I forget to snap photos of the before and after! I believe it underwent a significant improvement. I'm starting to wonder if I like cleaning up used ones more than playing them 😂😂
Thanks for listening btw! I feel rusty for some reason even though I've been playing. Sometimes these hands just don't want to cooperate 😁
