I love how even after Chris missed that pull, he is seen smiling and having a good time afterwards. I think I was more upset than him that he missed it.
Just a terrific video, Mr. Bell. Took some lessons watching and listening to Duffin and you. I am 68 years old and just started up again about a month ago. I prioritized my Deadlift then Squat and then Bench. So your videos provide a lot of help and humor. Thanks for the hard work.
Love this video getting so many great tips on deadlift. Trying to keep my back as straight as possible has been something I've been working on and it's tough to keep everything tight but watching these lifts have given me new things to try thanks Mark and Chris!
Just to note on the last few videos featuring Chriss Duffin -- I have been able to get more mobility in my legs and increase my squat thanks to those videos. You guys are awesome.
Its been a long way coming but the recent videos from the ST crew is the best on youtube. It comes to show that if you put your best into what you know best, good things come. Mark Bell, Jim McDonald, Silent Mike and the rest of the ST crew, thank you. You make the world a better place to lift.
Duffin's attention to breathing is very welcome. It is the foundation of every movement and every process. His attention to grounding is spot on, as well. These are two practices that will help you in and out of the gym.
Ed Coan has a similar style. Get in a good position then continue to build tension by wedging yourself under the bar. I know for me, just watching these guys pull has allowed me to breakthrough sticking points and understand what is needed for a solid pull. That being said I’m still a weakling (compared to these guys) only having pulled 405 lb. But for me, where I’m at in my lifting career is very satisfactory for myself.
Back in my chester days! Probably going to get some love from the spacesuits for that. Love the Duffin collaborations and his interview was inspiring. Be not drunk with wine but filled with good whiskey and deadlift the world. Or something like that.
ReMarig00o Lose that gym. Save your money, buy a rack and bar, lift at home. I've dealt with that shit over and over, never again. I would quit before wasting my time in a inhibited gym.
If you say that the deadlift always takes a little more than it gives you have to admit THIS VIDEO GIVES A LOT! Thank you for that and greetings from Germany!
Hey now this is one of my favourite vids from you guys, deadlift is a mans lift and you and duffin are complete savages. Daily motivation check and i'm off to smash some sumo. Strength is never a weakness! Would love to see you guys over in London 💪🏼
Holy shit! Chris looks like he is possessed after that fail. Dude is just a beast! 805 is not joke. Looking good Mark. Damn, i wish i lived closer to Sacramento!
We did this on our last deadlift day and it was crazy how your more relaxed while lifting but at the same time your still fired up. After deadlifts doing accesory work your lower back is not tight at all. Now rolling out of bed the next morning is a different story:) Great method to try.
PLEASE give (Duffins and/or your) steps for front squat, LOVE duffins steps for squat and dead..USING THEM/FEELS GREAT! Especially feel the lats are really helping both a lot. Not sure how to use with front squat. My back thanks all you guys so much brother!
great video It was a great video because of the focus, intensity of rage and sheer effort put into every lift. Makes me motivated to snap my fucking back in half.
Hey everybody, the whiskey they are drinking is Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon. I had it for the first time about a month ago. It is one of the best bourbon's I've ever had, hands down!
Jameson and deads? HELL YEAH!! The animalistic nature of Chris is insane. That look in his eyes will have you cold to your core. Where can I get one of those Whiskey & deadlifts t-shirt?
overall its a full body workout if your not feeling everything then your doin it wrong and you need to keep stretching and working on keeping yourself upright not anything less than a 75degree angle cuz then you just start subbing out all your lower muscles and start using more back .
He doesn't say don't foam roll. I personally foam roll and so real specific mobility work maybe once or twice a week at home before bed, and do what they show in the videos as general warm-ups pre workout
Joseph Siko I presume he was being sarcastic given all available evidence suggests you cannot remove knots or adhesions directly with any form of soft tissue manipulation (massage, foam rolling, body tempering)
To fail at a deadlift is probably the worst feeling of any fails in lifting. Especially when 45% the way through the rep, because you know the last 30% is smooth sailing
Jack D'Arcy 1) Watch great sumo deadlifters. I've always tried to emulate Andrey Belyaev. 2) It's not build. It's not really mobility either, IMO, because it's not just about getting into good position. Rather, it's about figuring out how to generate tightness and force while in good position. At 2:10, Chris generates so much tightness that 225 pops off the floor before he actually initiates the lift. The ability to generate that kind of tightness is what people are missing. 3) Practice a LOT!!!
RoboticPrecision Thanks Robot! I'm a massive fan of Belyaev, it's unfortunate he doesn't do any videos in English on deadlift set-up. Do you have any queues or set up tips, such as squeezing your chest up or placing your shins against the bar? You have an enviable set-up! Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
Athlete enthusiasts must know, that these people have already dedicated their whole life to weightlifting and the vast majority of the people cannot compete with them . So it is better to have in mind that the exercise itself is more important than trying break the records or get the bodies you see in videos around the youtube .
I was doing this last night, minus the deadlift part. Awesome workout and very fun.

Duffin's attention to breathing is very welcome. It is the foundation of every movement and every process. His attention to grounding is spot on, as well. These are two practices that will help you in and out of the gym.
Look how scared Smelly got after Duffin failed and got the Crazy eyes.
Hahaha i saw that

Chris Duffin is my favorite lifter, dude straight kills shit in the gym!
Great video. Thanks to ST and Chris Duffin.
Crazy to see that Duffin did 1000x2 a year and change later...crazy.
Just more reason to take his advice!
Watching Chris set up he gets in a good position and then pulls himself in to an even better position. Killa.
Ed Coan has a similar style. Get in a good position then continue to build tension by wedging yourself under the bar. I watch this video all the time, and everytime I am still hoping for Chris to make that 805 pull.
I love all you guys, especially Chris Duffin overall great guy.
I wish I could turn my crazy savage mode on like Chris does, shit ...
daniel demello Trying drinking whisky haha.
ReMarig00o lmao damn dude that sucks , my gym encourages noise and savagness haha
ReMarig00o Lose that gym. Save your money, buy a rack and bar, lift at home. I've dealt with that shit over and over, never again. I would quit before wasting my time in a inhibited gym.
+ReMarig00o I used to train at a shit gym. Now I don't. Now I'm at a gym where people actually make progress
dig deep find something to get pissed about and kill it
can't believe you guys are shooting Blantons. Love it!!!
If you say that the deadlift always takes a little more than it gives you have to admit THIS VIDEO GIVES A LOT!

'Make no mistake about it, Chris Duffin is a different bread of dude. He is a savage'
That broscience reference and the fact that mark bell watches broscience just made me so happy
+Nithin Tangellamudi I think mark bell is funnier

ohhh yeah we've all been waiting on this one!

Holy shit! Chris looks like he is possessed after that fail. Dude is just a beast! 805 is not joke. Looking good Mark. Damn, i wish i lived closer to Sacramento!

Where can I get one of those Whiskey & deadlifts t-shirt?
8:25 : Chris lifts 535 with a normal grip ! ...Wow ! What does he do for grip strength ?
Chris Duffin and Kelly Starrett should have a "supple off" competition in where they see who can lick their own elbows the most in under a minute
thumbs up if u were holding your breath for chris duffin 815 .

Anyone know the straps Chris used
I love it that there are no haters or trolls here. Just big balls lifters. Love it.
To fail at a deadlift is probably the worst feeling of any fails in lifting. Especially when 45% the way through the rep, because you know the last 30% is smooth sailing
Sure like the form on Mark's sumo deadlift.
Lol this commentary was killin me, but damn Duffin's a straight savage, different level dude you can tell
Thanks! now I know how to lift and breathe more betterest!
man i want chris to have his own channel or be feature a lot more on here!
He has a channel, very good info
oh thanks for letting me know!
Can someone tell me how robot pants and duffin get so upright in the sumo? Is it extreme hip mobility or just build?
Jack D'Arcy 1) Watch great sumo deadlifters. I've always tried to emulate Andrey Belyaev. 2) It's not build. Jack D'Arcy I've got more cues than a pool hall! Maybe I'll make a video and explain them in detail.
epic workout!
